They host everything from business meetings to 21st to drinks after the fun run that is on every Wednesday. Suffice to say the venue is available for hire and probably has a capacity of around 200pax (don't quote me on that). It definitely isn't as flash as the RNZYS but it has more of a community vibe to it and there's plenty of free parking (provided it isn't the weekend on a hot Summer's day). They also have a pool table and a bar so if you're looking for a casual drink and a game, this could be your spot.

It's a completely different vibe when you get out of the city for events. It's just more relaxed, people seem to care more about having a good time and spending time with friends. This place compliments these feelings perfectly. Sitting on the grass looking over Milford Park, The Marina and the beach, it's great for both day and night celebrations. Inside the place is pretty large with the quintessential plaques and photos adorning the walls. the bar is simple but well equipped and the people are lovely. Sit out on the deck in the sun, or pull up a chair inside with your mates. Check out the website for upcoming events and find out how to become a member.

A cool mailbox in the front and front steps into the semi half indoor/ half outdoor porch with seating and hanging greens. This is their 'garden' part of the house and there are multiple interior spaces inside. This includes the coat hooks in the foyer and hallway part from the main door. There is the living area with the cool chandelier, bookshelves with a neat arrangement of ornaments, the framed TV and actual clock. Adored the duck wallpaper and colourful mural wall. A food truck in the back as well as dedicated dining area + back outside smoking area. Great menu with home-style, Kiwi classics that goes well with beers, wine or non alcoholic drinks. They have a full bar in the style of their 'kitchen'. So cool with tall stools as well as nearby wall couch seating places. Got the cheesy garlic bread- tasty and had to try the tasting platter with two lamb koftas, lemon pepper squid, pork belly bites, risotto balls and chicken nibbles. A great range of mixed, flavoursome bites. Definitely recommend this one. Would love to come back to watch a game, or with the girls for drinks- a great place any time of the day.

The first time I went to the community centre was for a youth talent show. The room was perfect as it accommodated the number of attendees. The kitchen was always clean and located inside the hall we where using. This made it easier at snack time as it was just a matter of taking items from the kitchen to the table we had set up buffet style outside the kitchen. The rooms are also built in a way that makes it flexible to arrange the room the way that suits you and your event. Although there is parking on site, it is limited. Luckily there are plenty of off street parking spaces.

The payments have generally been smooth and communication professional. It always seems quite busy, whatever the season, with various groups occupying the many rooms available, so if you want to set up a meditation or yoga course you might want to double check that karate or zumba are not also taking place that same night right next door! They also hold a farmers market at the centre on Sunday mornings that is worth supporting.

I still remember being about 10 years old and sitting on my back deck in Mt Eden listening to Robbie Williams belt his latest tunes. While it's a bit depressing to think about Robbie now, this was one of the huge bonuses about concerts being held at Springs - all the locals could hear the music for free! Though now most of the big acts go straight to Vector arena, every now and again some still play in the amazingly huge outdoor stadium at Western Springs. In 2011 I was lucky enough to attend the Foo Fighters concert at Western Springs, and it was PHENOMENAL. The sound was amazing, and despite being way up the back of the stadium, you still felt you were part of the action and could see everything. It was my first outdoor concert and so far it's my favourite concert yet - and it's down to, in large part, the stadium itself. If you ever get the chance to go to a concert at Springs, make it a priority and get your ass there - you won't regret it. Tip: Western Springs Stadium is also a Speedway so if you're in to car racing, this is the place for you.
