Dr. Stone said I needed orthotics and told me they would cost "about $400" and would be covered by my health insurance. Six months later they billed my insurance for $720. Insurance paid $249.66 and applied $277.39 to my deductible and $27.73 to my copay. When I spoke to the doctor's office and explained that I would not have ordered them if I had been told they were $720, they told me "that's just what we bill the insurance". She went on to tell me that if I had no insurance, the total cost would only be $485. So they expect me to pay $305.12 ($277.39 plus $27.73) on top of the $249.66 my insurance company already paid for a total of $554.78. As a result, they are charging more and making more simply because an insurance company is involved. read more

Very unhappy with this practice. I brought my daughter to be seen by podiatrist, we waited in the lobby for 20 min and then were told that doctor can not see us because we don't have new client paperwork filled out. I could've done it in those 20 min of waiting in the lobby. Very unprofessionaland RUDE!!!!! I had to talk my daughter into seeing podiatrist for few days and she was finally ready and not afraid . I went for the first time last week. Waited 45 minutes after my 10:00 am appointment time. No explanation given even after several inquiries. I saw the doctor (Levick) for a total of 7 minutes. Despite checking out at the desk upon leaving, one week later I received a letter stating that my account was overdue after receiving two other requests for payment. Seriously?? Now they're billing me $306 for a 7-minute visit. This was my one and only time. I'm SO done with North Shore Foot & Ankle. read more

5 months ago I am very disappointed with Northshore Foot and Ankle and especially Dr. Kamur. I started out seeing Dr. Grace for a problem with my left foot, but after 3 visits with her and she was not really doing anything to help me, I started seeing Dr. Kamur for the same problem with my left foot. I decided on a treatment of a series of shots to help with nerve pain in my foot after talking with Dr.. Kamur, because she told me it would help kill off the nerve and I could avoid surgery. Well 7 shots in and it has not helped at all. Now I need surgery and I am stuck with this huge bill from all of these shots that didn't help and they want all of the money paid now before they will even consider doing surgery, and I have been and still am in the most excruciating pain ever. I called and set up a payment plan with their billing department already. I have also left messages for Dr. Kamur to see if I can speak with her about what she may think I should do, or to just discuss more about the surgery, but she will not return my calls or messages, she just forwards them to the Billing Department. To say I am disappointed and hurt with the way I've been treated by Dr. Kamur is an understatement. I feel like they kept me coming back just so they could grow this bill out of control and I still don't have any relief from this pain. I have no problem with paying my bill, and I do not have a problem honoring my responsibilities, but I guess money means more than a patient's well being. Very sad I feel like I have to keep adding on to this post. Today is Monday Nov. 8th, 2021. I just left the Grayslake office, irs 4:00pm. I filled a Medical Records form and brought it to this office. The receptionist took my paper, I asked could they please make sure to include any ultrasound images and results. The receptionist immediately got an attitude with me. And they are going to bill me for the copies of my medical records which I included my credit card number for them to charge. I'm not understanding the attitude and total rudeness from this women. I have never in my life ever been to a doctor's office where the doctors and staff are exceptionally rude for whatever reason. I am just trying so hard to understand all of this. Dr. Kamur won't return any if my voice messages and her staff is acting so nasty because I asked for my records. For anybody who is thinking about coming to Northshore Foot and Ankle, you better think again, because these are some of the most rudest, snide comment making group of people i have ever seen. Not one call back to try and see what the issue is from Dr. Kamur at all. I still just can't believe i have dealt with them for almost a year for the same problem with my left foot, still with no help, no relief and no care from no one at Northshore Foot and Ankle. I visited this office in July after several months of searching for some help with tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. I was severely disappointed and angered with their service. They offered me only one solution and were not willing to talk through other options. At one point the physician asked me why I was asking so many questions (maybe because podiatry is not my profession??). He even had the audacity to begin filling out the paperwork for treatment I did not agree to while I thought it through because he had another appointment to get to and wanted to save time. Seriously? I don't think so. They seem like a knowledgeable group of physicians and, understandably, this is a business and they have money to make. But as consumer make sure you do your homework and don't be pushed around. You deserve to get what you pay for, even in the medial field. A medical degree does not mean their opinion is the only. or best for that matter. Make them work for you. (end of soap box rant) Also, if you are an athlete, save yourself some time and visit the Bone and Joint Institute or Chicago Running Institute. They have a much greater knowledge of athletic injuries and solutions. read more

I had been a patient at North Shore Foot and Ankle for over 30 years. I was accidentally dropped from my insurance and all my other doctors were extremely understand. North Shore Foor and Ankle refused to even give me a payment plan to pay off my bill. They sold me a device for plantar fasciitis that was almost $200 and ended up screwing up my knee. Been going here for over 10 years & seen differ Dr here. My physician left practice recently. Saw new Dr for issue which required biopsy. Told it take 5-7 days. Nobody called At day, 14 left message, nobody called back. Called next day & was given vague responses &told they'd call me back that day. Called again day 16, just received results??? Someone would call me back. Now day 20 after calling 6-7 times & repeatedly getting voicemail I was able to speak to office manager. The Dr is suppose to call me today if Dr doesn't I was told to call back!! I don't know what has happened to this practice but this is terrible service. I think it's time to find a new podiatry practice. read more

I was a patient for more than 25 years but will no longer use North Shore Foot and Ankle. My husband uses a different podiatrist and, with the same insurance, had his inserts covered. Insurance wouldn't cover mine because the code used indicated they were "not medically necessary." Annoying....why would they prescribe something not medically necessary? But here's the reason for this poor review......I was personally in the office twice asking to talk to the office manager about the coverage, called the office manager three times to discuss, got a "turning over to a collection agency" letter and called the doctor who wrote the note twice, called the office again, and (with payment) wrote a final note to the doctor telling her I was displeased with their service and would no longer be a patient. At no point was I able to talk with the office manager or receive a return call from the doctor who I used for 25+ years. The only person who called me back was the bookkeeper who insisted on payment, told me the office manager was no longer with them, and that the doctor wouldn't talk to me. read more

Let's be clear. North Shore Foot and ankle did not respond to my request to discuss this matter with their practice manager. The lack of concern and lack of kindness and basic human decency from their office staff is appalling. If they had a modicum of concern about the horrific treatment we received they would have reached out not responded on Yelp hiding behind HIPPA which gives them no right to be so unconcerned about patient care. We received inhumane, unkind treatment. Whoever wrote this response should be ashamed of themself. I see you've used this HIPPA excuse before. Why don't you fix your practice management instead? I've been attending Northshore Foot and Ankle for the past 3-4 years. I was originally seen by Dr. Friend for having flat feet, but once he found out I was having no luck with orthotics I was referred to another physician in the practice for a possible surgery. That physician, who is no longer with the practice, stated he was unable to assist me, but referred me to Dr. Gosse. Dr. Gosse fit me with a set of orthotics and when those didn't seem to help, I was then referred to another physician within the practice, Dr. Stone. I've had a phenomenal experience with Dr. Stone. He is open for conversation, very knowledgeable and willing to try alternative options of treatment. He did perform an arthroscopy on my ankle and fit me with a whole new set of orthotics which fit beautifully. I've had a good experience with each physician. Dr. Stone is usually booked out, but I can usually find an appointment slot which works for my work schedule. The only issue I run into with the practice is the primary nurse/health technician is unfriendly and always in a rush. She does seem to have an attitude as if she knows everything which is frustrating. The other issue is the cost of orthotics is astronomical especially since most insurance plans do not provide coverage, and no payment plans are really available. read more

Dr Grace & the staff at North Shore Foot and Ankle are friendly and professional. Dr Grace took the time to listen and understand my concerns, evaluate my condition(s) and level of pain prior to providing different courses of action. She explained clearly what was showing on the X-ray and provided a chart with photographs and symptoms detailing my specific condition. I went in (my first podiatrist appointment) anticipating bad news but left elated with my options, which were non-evasive. I highly recommend North Shore Foot & Ankle as well as Dr Grace. read more

Dr. Grace is a wonderful surgeon.. I had a bunionectomy & I had a great surgery & recovered quickly. She is very personable & explained everything very well. If I have to have another surgery I wouldn't hesitate to call her. The office is very well run & never had to wait long for my appointment. read more

I agree with the previous reviewer. Visiting this practice, now known as North Shore Foot and Ankle, was a waste of time and money. Worse, their treatment gave me a foot problem that I did not previously have. I have always worn orthotics and went there to get new ones. I was not experiencing any problems at the time, but felt a new pair were in order to keep my plantar fasciitis at bay. After two different pairs and 8 different visits to the office they failed to get it right. While trying to "break in" the orthotics that did not fit properly I now have tendonitis in my ankle. Their only solution to the problem was to continue to adjust the orthotics but I don't understand how you can change casted orthotics in the office and still call them custom. After getting a second opinion, I returned the orthotics to the office and asked for a refund. They refused to refund me the full amount eventhough I did not get anything (other then ankle pain and a lot of wated time) for the money I spent. Dissappointing and unprofessional -- all merchants, doctors or otherwise, should stand by the products they sell. read more

ever since dr. gary freind retired, this practice has gone down the toilet. office staff, namely tina the office mgr. was so rude and disrespectful. very condescending and rude office staff. the doctors who own this practice, namely dr. stone dont care how the office staff treat the patients. its all about the $$ there now. i will be going to another practice on north shore from now on. real shame how they have ruined this formerly great medical practice. dr. gary freind would never have allowed this treatment of patients. read more

I agree with the previous two posts. I visit the office three times and each time was told the Dr. I had seen previously was no longer with the practice. I decided to go to a different practice for better treatment and consistency and was told they charge for sending medical records ($1/page). Really?? After all the money I spent there (in vain) they are going to charge me to send the records?? Ridiculous and disappointing. Not professional at all. read more

This place is all about the money. Treatment is circuitous, using trial and error to discover what's wrong and charging all the way.
