We had good care. Was referred to ER from a local physician. Reception was polite and kind. The wait was long; the waiting room was full. Other people clearly had more urgent need than did we. I appreciate good triage. Someday we might be the one who needs to go to the front of the line. We received good care. Every step of care was clearly explained. Care was taken to reduce pain during procedures. At discharge we were referred to a specialist who, upon viewing the minor surgical procedure done in ER, said, "where was this done?" We said, "local small ER." She said she was very impressed, care was just what it should have been but that 9/10 times when she sees ER follow ups, the ER has not followed best treatment practice. She said, excellent ER care. Kudos to our local ER! read more

Was admitted to ER, given chest X-Ray and was told it was distorted, given a CT and was told mild bronchitis. Had to be taken by abulance to Munster to get CT, the paramedic that was in the back with me tried to show them how bad I looked on my stats there and back and she was dismissed, I tried to tell them all I was allergic to, did not listen and then tried to give me what I was allergic to. I demanded to be taken to UTSW were my lung team was and after some little person telling me it was not his monkey or his circus, I was finally life lighted while this same little person was telling me that insurance would not cover!!!!!!! Well I was in respitory failure when I reached UTSW, had 90% of my lungs covered with orginezed phemonia, and this was read from the ct and x-ray that was read incorrectly at Gainesville, I would have died if I stayed in Gainesville. read more

I was in an auto accident more than 6 months ago and was taken by ambulance to NTMC emergency room. They took me in right away and provided what I consider to be reasonable care. The problems are with billing. Ordinarily, I would not have written this or any other review because I found the services provided adequate. But, I CANNOT get anyone to follow through with the accounts receivable part and it has been nearly 7 months. Perhaps this is being monitored and will result in SOMEONE actually following through. The accident was not my fault but the at-fault driver had no insurance (shocking, I know). I ultimately contacted the billing office to request an invoice to provide to my insurer who is covering my costs through the uninsured motorist coverage. I STILL have never received a bill and instead the radiology and emergency services group the hospital contracts with sent my outstanding co-pays that should have been sent to the insurer, whose contact information I provided to all parties multiple times, to a bill collector. I have no problem paying my bills and would have paid them what is owed but I cannot settle the claim with the auto insurer without an itemized invoice. Early on, they provided me with a running statement with charges of nearly $20,000. I contacted the hospital again requesting they submit the bills and was told they were sending the information to a company they contract with to negotiate charges. Still, neither I nor my auto insurer has heard a peep, other than, of course, the bill collector who, at this point, says I owe them something like $45.00 in co-pays not paid by my health insurance provider who is now pursuing subrogation with the auto carrier for reimbursement for the costs they have already paid. But, the debt collection agency REFUSES to send me copies of the statements which are required for me to submit to the auto carrier. Why? Because it would be "too much work". The hospital also REFUSED to complete a form required by the insurance provider detailing the care that was required, etc., stating that "we don't do that". The insurer requires a physician statement about the care and the hospital told me to have my PCP complete it. How is the PCP supposed to provide a statement about the care I required upon arrival at the hospital? I only give them 2 stars because the actual care provided to me was reasonable. I would only recommend someone go there if they had no other choice as the billing and customer service, outside the actual medical care, is nothing short of a carnival run by a bunch of incompetent, uncaring clowns whose primary function, it seems, is to avoid as much actual work as possible and make the lives of their patients/customers as miserable as possible. I should be reimbursed for the amount of time it is taking me to deal with this mess. read more

hello! I you to know that I had an emergency medical visit yesterday at North Texas Medical Center and the care was exceptionalLu excellent. I was seen for cluster headaches which they ruled out possible TIA/Stroke. When I arrived, I was immediately taken to an exam room. Nurse and Doctor were prompt, polite and highly professional. They ran a gamut of diagnostic tests which ran from 5:00pm until 1:00am. Everything was sanitary! Even when 9 patients arrived all at once and beds were at a minimum, all staff managed the issue with such ease and all patients were treated with high regard and prompt efficiency. I had the unfortunate experience of spending New Years in ICU at this hospital with my Mom. This hospital was outstanding! We spent from 12/29/22-1/3/23 there. The staff did EVERYTHING possible to make my Mom's "transition" as comfortable as possible and to make sure the family was well taken care of. They even brought coffee and snacks in for the family regularly. I cannot say enough about Dr. Fairhat and the RN's Shy and Jennifer. Their care was second to none and I mean it! I used to be a FF/Paramedic and have taken patients all over DFW. I know the stories you hear about hospitals, doctors, etc.... This was a professional experience. My Mom went on to see my Grandma last night peacefully. Thanks again to NTMC for everything y'all did to take care of her and my family. See you again some day Mom! read more

I came in for a pregnancy sonogram and was given a tech that said he rarely saw pregnant women. It was a very awkward appointment and I was told very little about the images I looked at on screen. My results came out unclear (big surprise) and now I'm being asked to rebook and repay the REDUE sonogram. I've been calling for over two weeks and no one bothers to call me back in imaging, billing or admin departments. Terrible customer service read more

The only reason I gave this place two stars is because of the amazing ladies I dealt with at the front desk before the walk in appointment. No complaints about customer service. The wait wasn't bad either, it was actually speedy for an ER Room. However, my complaint is with the doctor I dealt with. I do not remember his name, but I came in for a suspected brown recluse bite. I was bitten around 5:15 AM while sleeping, and went to the hospital around 4 PM after I got extremely severe full body aches and chills. I experienced a little bit of nausea, but not much else. The bite wound looked swollen and red, with a very very small blister forming at the center. There was no purple anywhere to be seen in the wound. When I got to the office, I told him I suspected I got bit by a brown recluse since we had an infestation in our home. However, upon seeing the wound at first glance, the doctor immediately dismissed any suspicion or indication that it was a brown recluse bite simply because of the fact it did not have a black center. Instead he thought I had a UTI, but after seeing it was negative then diagnosed me with severe dehydration. He claimed it would have been a recluse bite because a black center would immediately appear. He said had 30 years experience and in those 30 years had only seen 15 recluse bites. We were new to the Texas area and had not dealt with these critters before. So, we believed him without much question. We did ask why I had such severe symptoms but he dismissed my questions, saying it could be my body's response to the problem. We went home and he prescribed me a medication in case the bite got a little worse... Still emphasizing that it was not a recluse bite. Lo and behold the next morning a purple center had formed. And the bite is continuing to get worse to this day. The doctor was very nice and very polite, but he did not know what he was talking about when it came to recluse bites. He left no room for questioning and did not even consider the possibility that my case could have been a bit different from others. I may have been able to get better help sooner if he had taken it more seriously. Luckily I wasn't a severe case that reacted extremely badly to the bite. It just makes me wonder how many more people he's turned away with his outdated information. Will not be returning. read more

Please stay away from this hospital, this place is not up to any standard of care, period! Here is my story: Due to my high deductible, so I tried to find the best way to save some out-of-pocket money. I purchased MDsave voucher for my labs and thyoid ultrasound to be done at NTMC. According to MDsave website, I might be able to apply the amount I paid to MDsave to my deductible. Even though NTMC is almost a 1-hour drive, it will save me a lot of money, especially on the lab tests.In contrast, the price for thyroid ultrasound at NTMC is $180, which is higher than Gateway diagnostic imaging that costs $150 cash and is closer to my house, I took a chance that all the expense might go to deductible. On the test day, I met an ultrasound technician who looked alert and happy and told me that I am his first hands-on patient. He said there will be a preceptor to overlook what he does. Then there was a knock on the door and his preceptor let him know that he can perform it by himself and left. I am ok to be the subject for the student to learn, but it should be under more direct supervision, not like this. Before the scan, I handed him a previous ultrasound result, but he didn't look at it. He asked me to lie down on the bed, without any position adjusting! He started to scan my neck. I was the one who had to extend my neck for him. He took so long to ultrasound my right thyroid, until he decided to ask me what type of surgery did I have. I actually had this conversation with him before he started to scan my neck, but I guessed he was nervous about his first-time experience and didn't hear what I said. I had thyroid cancer in the isthmus part of thyroid and I had a right-lobe thyroid and the entire isthmus removed last year. so after surgery I have only the left part of the thyroid remaining. The last time I had a thyroid ultrasound at UT Southwestern 6 months after surgery, the technician scanned my neck thoroughly, she scanned the left-lobe thyroid and all involved neck lymph nodes. This cancer, if it spreads, it will metastasize to lymph node first. So I told that young technician about it one more time and then he moved to scan my left-lobe thyroid which didn't take long before he said it was done! And then he left to speak with his preceptor, I could hear as he shouted in the hallway that the patient has only half a thyroid. The preceptor then came in the room and scanned through my thyroid very quickly before he said it is done. I got up and asked him about my neck lymph nodes? He told me he didn't see any abnormal enlarged lymph nodes, but then told me to lie down again so he can scan it thoroughly to confirm it for me. Well, it didn't take long, he just swiped the probe across my neck very quickly, which didn't feel right to me. And then told me that the radiologist will be the one who interprets the result. Before I left the preceptor told me that he might transfer my previous ultrasound result to the radiologist. You would think this would be done no matter what, but it apparently was not The results came back 1.It states that there is no previous result to compare! 2. It read the size of my left-lobe thyroid as 4.2 x 0 10.4 x 1.2 cm., What the heck does that 0 10.4 mean, is it 10 cm. or 10 mm.? My previous results at UTSW said 4.4cm x 1.2 cm x 1.0cm Do you see the difference? 3. There is no reading for my neck lymph nodes at all. 4. The radiologist wrote this on the report " the isthmus measures 0.2 cm. and thickness " The isthmus was completely surgically removed, so why did that doctor document that I still had at least part of it? So it's not just the technician, but also the radiologist doctor who aren't up to the standards. I've attached part of the ultrasound result from both facilities, so you can compare the difference between them. read more

ER REVIEW: I give this hospital half a star for their ER. I have been there several of times for different family members and none of them have gotten out of that hospital within 3 hours and ended up getting diagnosed with an ear infection or sent home with cough medicine. I don't recommend for the ER. WOMENS CENTER REVIEW: FIVE STARS!!!I delivered my son there. The nurses and staff in the labor and delivery were amazing and listened to my every need. We stayed for four days and I went through 26 hours of labor and they stayed by my side the entire time! read more

My father had been in all the top hospitals such as UT Southwestern trying to find out why his hemoglobin was so low. They would give him transfusions and send him home. After visiting Surgeon Dr. Leah Dill for a routine screening, she decided to order labs prior to screenings. Her and Dr. Farahat came together to find out he had bone marrow disorder which is now treated with medication and he now has his energy and life back. The nursing staff was amazing and were all so friendly. This hospital does not get enough credit. They have so many wonderful people working there! read more

3 stars are only for the office staff that made the office visits for my husband and I so easy. we both moved over to north texas medical because of bad experiences from other doctor offices. we both went in for yearly screenings and blood work and felt the service was acceptable until we started getting bills from both our insurance companies. nearly everything we had done was rejected by our insurance and mind you we have different insurance companies. After one phone then another and another, so on and so on, the doctors offices and or (everyone blames everyone else) coding department. and or billing sent the wrong codes to our insurance. We went to the doctor back in July and here it is November and I am still having to deal with these problems. One problem, ok I can deal with, but so far it has been 6 different bills I have had to deal with. read more

This was my worst er hospital experience. After being sick for two weeks I had to push my alert button I was so weak and dehydrated and having bad pain in lower left back and side. I also have brain tumor with severe migraine headaches after they gave me morphine shot, they took me to CT and did CT with contrast I was taken back to room, when I asked for pillow for arm with iv to keep it straight so it would not keep making drip stop and alarms would stop going off and i asked for ice chips which i was told i could have after CT. Iwas stunned by response from April who said she was clerk. She was loud and very rude when she came back, she said they had no ice chips because machine was down then she set down bottle which I could not open so I ask her if I could get it opened and a straw. She was so rude I could tell she was heartless to my lack of strength on left side due to previous stroke. When nurse came in, she told her she could not deal with me wow! I try never to be burden just was asking for what I needed nurse told me she is hard of hearing so I must forgive her. Short time later on call doctor came in said I could go home I asked what had caused me to be so sick for so long and why my left side is hurting so sever? He did not know just said that I had become dehydrated, and they had given me 4 iv bags I then explained to doctor I had come in ambulance did not have my walker nor scooter and had no way home he said they would help me find way home. After that person came in had me sign discharge papers, heard her say yes when she left my room. Next thing I know they wheeled me to waiting room and told me my son that was working and was on far side of Dallas where he and his 9 Children live would be there to pick me up. I had no money, so taxi was out of question. I tried calling police non-emergency number they transferred me to county and then sheriff no services to help disabled elderly persons in this situation. I live 5 minutes from Hospital! In such pain I waited for my son feeling so helpless and of no value as a person, patient, human being and now a burden to my son and he is a wonderful son. I will die before I ever go back to this hospital! I pray that that hospital gets a patient advocate because their hospital supervisor which they said was named Roberta was too busy to speak to me though I was there hours. Do no harm must not be part of patient care anymore a lot different than when my parents and I worked in hospitals. Community of Gainesville Texas really needs to address public transportation for disabled and elderly getting home from hospital after ambulance drop offs this is so disrespectful and heartless. read more

I recently visit the North Texas Medical center's Emergency Department. I chose your hospital because it was smaller and I felt at the time that the staff would have more time to manage my case. I have been having chronic stomach pains for the past 2 months and I had the oncoming of a cold I assume. The receptionist was very pleasant and she got me checked in very quickly. When I was called back to see the triage nurse she did write everything down I told her but she seemed as though she was having a terrible day. Not once did she smile. She took me to my room and I was only in there for maybe 30min when Dr. Roland came in. He began to make his initial evaluation and I answered his questions the best I could. He seemed as though he was annoyed and that my case was beneath him. As the left he said he was an ER doctor and he deals with Emergencies. I have never in my life been told this by a doctor. I felt it was incredibly insensitive and unprofessional. I went early in the morning so there wasn't a normal doctor's office open and I had already seen my primary care doctor for these issues with no prevail. I waited about another hour and my blood work technician. She was extremely nice and caring. Then I went for a Urine test. I went back to my room and NO ONE came in for 4 hours, not even to check on me. Then a nurse came in and said she had discharge papers for me. How insulting, poor woman had no idea about anything I had had done tonight or why I was even there. She said Dr. Roland prescribed me medication for a COUGH (which I had never had a cough) and medicine for a bladder infection. I was extremely upset by this point. Dr. Roland should have come in himself and talked to me about my diagnosis. I felt more should have been done than just a urine test and a blood test. Even when I went to a larger hospital they went above and beyond, and did every test they could think of. It may have taken long there but at least they genuinely wanted to help. I am still suffering with this stomach pain and cold symptoms. I have made an appointment with my gynecologist to follow up on this problem but I felt it should have been managed by Dr. Roland. I really could not believe how he treated me. A hospital is supposed to be there to help people. I apologies to the person who is reading this because it's not your fault. I wrote this today so that Dr. Roland's employer would maybe get a bit of insight into how he is treating his patients. read more

I took my daughter their with chemical exposure from her job. She waited over an hour before I got there. She was throwing up and bleeding from the nose. When I arrived I asked a nurse to come look at her because of her symptoms. She walked in and handed her a wet wash rag and walked out. We waited another hour without seeing anyone, and walked out.. I would not recommend this ER if I were on my death bed. I'll take my chances on the way to Denton. read more

ER REVIEW: On 10-21-2018, I took my wife to Absolute Care in Gainesville, Tx. for her head problems. She has neuralgia and she had a flair up. They sent her to this ER for a CT. The office staff was great. They saw hat she was in allot of pain and got her right in. That is when we met Dr. Gary Fagan. Things went down hill from there. The nurse did his thing, really nice man. The Dr. came in, talked a minute or so to us, then pushed on the back of her neck. He hit the right spot which made her flinch. He told her that she did not need a CT. All she had was a tension headache. We insisted that she have the CT. He did it under protest. After the CT was over, he gave her a morphine drip. Her BP went sky high. She was then sent by ambulance to Med. City in Denton. She got great care there. If she would have listened to that Dr. she would have stroked out. Shame on you Dr. Fagan. You need to listen to your patients more. You could have killed her with your diagnosis. read more

In complete contrast to the other review I have never had a more distressing experience than my run in with NTMC ER nurse 'Edna' (she covered her name tag when I photographed her forbidding face). My husband was exhibiting stroke symptoms (blurred vision, vertigo-like spinning, numbness on his left side, severe headache) and we rushed into the NTMC ER for help in the realization that we had a 60 minute window to get treatment. There were empty examination rooms available but there was no-one on hand to decontaminate them, so my poor husband was on the floor outside one of these rooms, barred from entering, when we had the unbelievable misfortune of encountering this dreadful woman. Without so much as a glance at the man suffering on the floor, appealing for help, she somehow conducted a "triage' without looking at him, speaking to him or even acknowledging his existence, dismissing the symptoms I reeled off on his behalf as uncharacteristic, demanding that we leave the emergency room. I cannot describe in mere words how shocking this experience has been and I would heartily discourage anyone from entering this facility in their hour of need. read more
