There are no kneelers so congregants have no idea what to do during consecration. For a bishop, 2 or 3 priests, and a few deacons, they still had 8 or so extraordinary ministers which weren't necessary. The only thing right is the music loft is in the "back" of the nave. The music hymnal has a lot of music that is untraditional and modern. As my kid stated perfectly "It felt Protestant.. like we didn't go to Mass at all." (Caveat: We do love going to praise & worship at protestant churches.. this just wasn't a comfortable experience for us.)

It's very similar to churches further in the city where no one calls back or emails; it makes one feel like just a number that they don't need or are too busy for. You have to chase them down. So, we've resolved that if the earlier communications are subpar with no acknowledgement or apologies for ignoring multiple reach-outs or never welcoming us as they said they would, we don't anticipate a good experience in this area otherwise. On a positive note and to be fair, it's important to point out what initially interested us. The services we went to in person and online were amazing and entailed strong, biblical, interesting teaching that can help people grow in their faith. We especially enjoyed seeing the family do ministry together leading sermons on stage. The kids seem humble and to love one another deeply, and so does the family as a whole. Pastor Cheno seems proud of and to adore his family. (Loves his woman!) Pastor Lydia is an amazing BOSS teacher and, in my opinion, deserves the respect of being referred to as "Pastor Lydia" versus "my wife" (maybe do it once for those who don't know the relationship), as she respectfully refers to her husband as "Pastor Cheno" during co-sermons. I love the diversity - not just in race/ ethnicity but, as the other reviewer said - age (as well as life experience and every aspect of well-roundedness). I prefer to do life with people from all facets of existence and not just those who look like me, have had similar stories, or are at the same stage of life. I like that these people not only occupy the same space, but they seem to actually do life together. Refreshing and a blessing for those who have the opportunity to be a part of that. So, the diversity, the wonderful teaching, the worship, the authenticity of the leadership, and the hope of building community were attractive to both my friend and me. We simply were unable to continue due to this missing and important piece called COMMUNICATION, which is one of the backbones of relationship. Its absence presented the question: If we are in need, will anyone partner alongside us to help?

There are lots of great ones around- Pastors whom I love listening to but man, sometimes I think we way complicate things....I know I do in my own mind! But this little- but growing group of people- Called the Church seems to be getting right to the heart of it- Right to the heart of Jesus- by simply Loving each other well!!!!!! Pastor Cheno is an incredible speaker who is passionate about Jesus- Jesus people and those who just need Jesus!!! You don't have to clean yourself up before you encounter Christ- they'll love you in the meantime- Just as God does!! Undoing 8 years of a " religious " private school and upbringing isn't easy!!! Grew up striving So hard to find Love and to feel worthy of it from the Lord or those around me- Grace was not something I was familiar with but It's the Heart of Jesus- it's why He came and it's refreshing to feel nothing but heaps of Grace in Church chokes me up thinking about!! The worship is authentic and led by talented musicians who obviously have a true calling to lead and Love!!!! I Love that this is such a diverse group of people that span all age groups and ethnicities!!!! I believe that is the picture of the church that the Lord had in my mind!! A rainbow of skin tones all worshiping the same God!!!!!! Yesterday was my first time at their new Location and I had the most amazing experience!!!!! Pastor Cheno asked at the end of the service if anyone wanted to receive prayer to come forward and people would be there to pray with us.... It took me a minute to humble myself to go forward but I did- through tear filled eyes.... And I stood there at the alter with my eyes closed, arms lifted, tears falling and a minute later someone came up to me- she simply asked my name, put her arms around me and began to pray out loud in my ear- everything I was feeling in my heart but didn't need to tell her!!! It was so incredible!!! When she was done, I opened my eyes to see it was one of the lead singers/ guitar player..... I was overwhelmed. I saw the service was posted this morning and so I listened to parts of the message again and was surprised to see me and my family on the screen at the end and it showed the whole beautiful thing and how it came to be, that the Beautiful singer came to pray for ME. She just stopped playing and came down to me as if nothing else in that moment was more important than going before the Lord for this Messy Woman who so desperately needed to hear that God sees me and that He still has good plans for me!! Oh my heart!!! Thank you beautiful girl! You have no idea the impact you had on me!!!!

There are many opportunities for members to gather for fellowship and study. But what brought us here initially and keeps us here is the way the Word is shared. Pastor Karen's sermons bring the message to life and makes sure that all are welcome.
