I stopped by here yesterday with my family for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning it happened to be Northerness Coffee. I did not have this shop on my radar and only found it because we were in Zelienople. It is located on a side street right off Main Street and parking was easy as there were a number of spots both in front and just past it. The shop itself is welcoming with a dark brown colored floor, a grey brick coffee bar and a wooden board ceiling. The tables are all live edge and the photos around the shop focus on nature. There is also a small area with merchandise for sale. For my coffee this morning I decided to go with an Americano while my wife went with an iced vanilla latte. We also picked up a stamped gingerbread molasses shortbread cookie and a biscotti which we shared with our kids. The biscotti had a nice snap and great flavor while the gingerbread cookie was deep and rich with those warm gingerbread spices. It was good enough that I went back up and bought another one just for my wife. As for the coffee, both my wife and I really enjoyed it. My Americano came out piping hot. After letting it cool a bit I tried it and thought the flavor was excellent. Letting the coffee speak for itself was the right move here. It had some fruity notes before finishing with a natural sweetness that I really enjoy in coffee. I would not call it bold, probably due to the size of the Americano, but it certainly was not muted either. Honestly, if I had added milk or creamer to this cup I think it would have ruined the flavor that I liked so much. My only issue was that the bottom quarter of the cup had a lot of grounds in it. There were enough that I ended up throwing the rest away. I was also able to try my wife's coffee and really enjoyed what I think was a homemade vanilla flavoring. It almost had a caramel like note that paired nicely with the coffee. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both liked the vibe of the shop and the coffee was very good. I only wish my Americano had not been filled with grounds at the bottom. read more

I was on the search for the world's best cup of coffee, and I must say, it just might belong to Northernness Coffee. What an excellent gem this coffee shop is. I ordered the classic Americano since I'm a hard man and no longer opt for the white chick sugar sippies. The coffee was hot, fresh and flavorful, and the mug it came in was as sturdy as a light post. The ladies at the counter were cheerful and knowledgeable about the confusing menu. I'll be back to Zelienople once the weather stops freezing my plums every time I step outside wearing shorts. read more

I saw this place while walking in Zeli and had to give it a shot! First, the interior is awesome! Most coffee shops seem to have the industrial look, but not here! Instead, you're transported to a rustic, woodsy, slick atmosphere, like you're in the woods somewhere up north. Fitting for the name of the cafe! I got a drip coffee, and it was excellent. I loved the fruity notes I was getting. You can tell immediately it's a unique coffee bean. They do have wholesale and by the cup, and there are baked goods available. I was here for a quick visit, but I want to come back and try more items! Excellent service, too! read more

Gorgeous space! From the second, I walked in I was just amazed at how beautiful all of the woodworking was. Very clean, spacious, in-service was super quick! Barista gave us the option to have it to go cup or drink our coffee in house, and although we did not try any of the food, the sweets that were available looks really good! Incredible coffee shop that we go out of our way to visit when traveling north. Everything is incredible from latte to cold brew to teas (including an amazing London fog). They make many of their syrups in house. The shortbread is to die for, and they even make a gluten free version. Some of the best customer service around. We stopped in for the Zelienople open air market. I enjoyed the mango slushee which was perfect on a hot summer day. The pepperoni focaccia bread as fantastic as a light evening snack. The staff were friendly and brought both our drinks and food. I would recommend stopping by. read more

We read about the newest coffee shop in Zelienople online and have wanted to try it so we stopped by today. I just LOVE their logo, and when you enter the shop you can see the attention to detail in the decor, it is fantastic. All of the woodwork, done by one of the owners, is stunning. My wife had a latte and I had a Mocha. Both were excellent. The coffee is roasted locally by another family member which maintains the local flavor. The owner Stephanie bakes the cookies and is hands on and the staff is super friendly! She tries to make as much in house as possible including flavorings and even the chocolate used in the mocha! This is definitely worth a stop when in or driving through Zelienople to support another quality small business. read more

What an amazing coffee shop! My husband and I were in town for an errand and love visiting local coffee shops. Our iced coffees did not disappoint! We tried the bacon, egg and cheese focaccia sandwich and were told the dough was made onsite and it was arguably one of the best breakfast sandwiches we have ever had! The owners were very kind and we enjoyed learning about their vision for their coffee shop. We will be back to Northernness Coffee soon! read more

So ... we were going to dinner with family near here & had an hour to kill, so my wife and I stopped here to grab a drink while waiting. We were immediately welcomed by the owner and his family who all work here. This is family business & it was awesome. They based their business off of the ideal of "northerness" found in the philosophies of Tolkein & CS Lewis. This idea to explore, live your best life, and be harmonious with the nature around you. The ambiance inside is one of natural elements (wood, stone, neutral wild nature colors, white-washed wood ceilings) all bring the outside inside to remind you of how to find ways to quiet down the bustle of life surrounding us all. The handmade pastries are a huge hit. My wife had the peanut butter protein bomb and loved it. The lavender syrup in her latte was handmade as are all their syrups - just a hit of sweetness without the overdoneness you get with Torani. The jasmine tea is to kill for. I wish there were more sugar free options (for me), but they've been here just three months so they're still balancing the offerings here. If you're in town or driving up 79 & need a pick me up, stop here! It's on a small side street off Main and easy to find. read more

Coffee was awful, the poor young girls waiting on us weren't ready to handle their jobs. Their Father was not very welcoming and I'm pretty sure with the way he was watching my husband that he was convinced that he was shoplifting. Very good coffee and service, and price for coffee reasonable, though I'm so tired of paying extra for oat milk. The only reason I gave 4 stars is I asked for a biscotti and was told it was $4.80, at which point I turned it down. That seemed way too high. You can get from Lager house in Harmony for $1.75 and they are large. Hope they look into baked goods prices. read more
