***Overall 3.75*** As far as malls go, this mall in Salinas is up my alley because it's not too big (like the one in Santa Clara!), not too small or empty (like the one in Capitola and many seaside ones), and not super riddled with high end stores where I end up window-shopping and don't actually buy anything. Northridge Mall has the stores I like and also has eateries too. There is plenty of parking, cute holiday decor, and a HUUUGE entertainment area (arcade, bowling), including the largest room with claw machines I had ever seen in my life! This is sadly the era of "shopping mall deaths" with everyone veering towards online shopping, so I am glad to see Northridge Mall populated with stores and doing well. I hope it sticks around. read more

It's a mall and I'm an old man now. Back in the 70's this mall was great but then I was in high school. It's changed but still the same. It was there 50th anniversary and a lot of fun things to do. It was pretty packed. A lot of families and hundreds of young dude's checking out the young ladies and vice versa...normal. It was clean and mall security was present. It's not that I'm ever going to just hang out there and they really don't have anything there I couldn't get elsewhere so I just don't feel the need to go there. My wife and I had a free funny character drawing done. It was part of their 50th anniversary celebration. Sweet! Last words...mall memories. read more

I have made many stops here over the years since it is right off the highway and an easy stop on road trips heading south. Decent middle-of-the-road mall. I'm just happy to see a mall still relatively thriving in this day and age, when many are shutting down. read more

This mall is great and so much better than it has been in the past. It is very clean and the majority of the stores are filled. Some of the stores are well known and some are not but all are nice and inviting. You have American Eagle and The Children's place as well as some lesser known stores like Miniso. The mall bathrooms were very clean and for sure have been updated. The addition of Round One upstairs is great and a fun safe place for kids and families to spend time. They offer video games/ticket and crane games as well as food and a bar. There is also bowling. I did go to the mall office while I was there and everyone there were super friendly and welcoming. The mall as a whole was well maintained. No trash on the ground or overflowing trash cans. The food court was nice ans neat. Although it is small it has several offerings as well as a bagel shop on the far end of the mall. If you want to shop or are just there for a pit stop to stretch your legs, I say it's worth it. read more

This is a nice mall in Salinas. They have a huge variety of stores and good eating options. And they huge selection of eating places like Starbucks, pretzels, crepes, etc inside the mall. I have been to hobby lobby here and Miniso, the variety is great in almost all the stores. There is something for all the price ranges. Staff is friendly at most stores and they provide good service. Parking could get crazy but one does end up finding a spot. Christmas decorations are pretty nice here. read more

No, this mall is NOT what it used to be. This is what TOO MUCH looks,feels, smells and sounds like. If I can sum up this mall it's basically a flea market now, with shoe stores and third party shops...that's about it. The lighting of this mall makes it seem like you are looking at items in jail. Most of the vendors stock piled a life's supply worth of 99 cents items - all types of eras. And the back-end of the mall near the planet fitness, well the layout just looks sketchy, it's labyrinthine and claustrophobic. It's sad what this mall has become, reality is most malls look like ghost towns these days, If you are a shoe fantastic, then this mall is a haven for you, otherwise I try to avoid coming here unless I need to go to Macy's or the bowling alley. read more

First time here and I loved it. It has a huge amount of stores and it is clean. I know it sounds strange, but there are actually people here! It's so refreshing to see. I was impressed with the diverse venders. They even have old school shops here like Hot topic. great place to shop for all and there are plenty of signs/directories. read more

The place is so big!!!!!! It is amazing and fun. Its got big variety for shopping and even has some little things for little ones. Its got a couple of photo booths too its very very pretty and has many lights. It is 10000% recommended. read more

We went to Guess store and I have purchased a shirt the day prior at Gilroy outlet and it was starting to fall apart. The manager Sam was very nice and she said all I had to do was take that one off and she would give me another one with out receipt or anything... she was very nice and I was very impressed with the customer service that we had. We saw a cute pair of shoes and she helped me find what I needed. I would recommend the store 21 that wants to get good customer service. Kudos to Sammie. read more

This isn't about the mall but the way they're running the Santa photos. Had a reservation and we were taken for the photo within 10 minutes. Walk up to the register to pay and are told we have to get in line to pay. The line stretched from the center of the mall all the way to the entrance of Penny's! Over an hour wait while everyone in front of us had to get into a lengthy discussion of which package they wanted. Why they had only one cashier is yet another mystery. read more

This mall kind of reminds me of Oakridge, except if doesn't have a Macy's in it. It's cute, and I see a few stores my kid would like. Hollister, Hot Topic, and Abercrombie. As for myself? I wouldn't shop here, because there aren't any of my stores. read more

They really are working on revamping this iconic local mall. The floors on the inside, the furniture are all modern and slowly but surley the store are all getting a facelift. There are more stores than there are restaurants here and I do wish they had more dining options that weren't as fast casual. It's the thing to do these days with online shopping and people rarely going to malls anymore. I think it would make more foot traffic and give locals something more to do. read more

Looks vintage on the outside but you can tell they are trying to upgrade this mall on the inside. Plenty of parking, one level and has all your typical stores at any other mall. Parking isn't an issue just make sure you lock up and do not leave any of your belongings inside the vehicle. read more

I love this mall! It's not too big and not too small! It has everything you need, my two favorite store is miniso and amore boutique and I love how there are lots of parking and soon 5 more businesses will be coming in. The mall is very clean and spaced out well. read more

My hometown mall Wow I stopped in for the first time in YEARS. It has FINALLY upgraded and did some major remodeling. I was scared this place was going to end up as a swap meat kinda mall at the rate it was going a few years ago. Not to mention the shootings that we happening inside the actual mall It was a nice surprise to see the effort that is being put in the right direction. Lots more stores to shop as well as nicely remodeled and expanded. More commercial stores rather than flea market style store fronts as before. read more

Not dog friendly, use to on occasion bring our dog with us no problem as in California you cannot leave a dog alone in car. This time security guard request us to leave.? Going to Del Monte who is dog friendly, NORTHRIDGE's lost Del Monte gain. Better selection anyway, should have known. I will not leave my dog in a hot car. Cannot leave alone at home as she is a puppy and being trained as a service/therapy and needs the experience in different settings. read more

Awwww.... Northridge... It truly needs some lovin'. It hasn't changed much, since my youngin' days. I grew up here, so it's what I thought a true mall was, until I branched out on my on! Definite attention is truly required here, such as their selection of department stores and such! I totally understand they want to cater to the local community there, but what you always hear most will actually go out of their ways to drive to SJ, Gilroy, or even LA to shop!! That says a lot. Granted, it's not an occasional thing, but it happens. Also, it'll attract a different group of people to Salinas and the Monterey County, and bring diversity to the deeply-needed city, which will expand business here and other possible ventures. They seem to be loosing all the food court stores and making no effort to replace them. Also most of the handicap automated doors are broken and have been for over a year. read more

Well sad to say this place needs an upgrade all the store are highly prices and over stocked with the same item. Salinas is a small community and sure no body wants to have or wear the same item. How in the world does Northridge Mall survive? By giving visitors a lot for the money and with so many stores to choose from you're sure to find the ideal bargain when holiday shopping or just looking for something unique. It still surprises me how Northridge Mall continues to be the top and only mall in Salinas and even after all these years it's still my favorite mall. Recent additions to the mall include Big Lots and many new places keep Northridge Mall on it's feet. Although still a nice mall that's better than Del Monte Shopping Center the only suggestion I wish that Northridge Mall could do is expand their food court to have an Arby's and a Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and that would get more visitors to the food court. There are some things that make the mall great, and the upgrades are pretty cool. However, I personally do find the mall a bit lack cluster. It gets boring after a while, despite adding a new arcade in the second floor. There's really not much else to do and the malls outside of town that I've seen are much bigger and more entertaining. I would love to see the mall expand and bring in new establishments so it can be better. Personally, a second floor would be better. read more

I'm not really a fan of Northridge, but honestly many of these reviews are paranoid dilusions. Yes, there is a strong hispanic presence, just like all of Salinas. But not all hispanics are gang bangers. True, there is a certain element in the area after dark that isn't the greatest, but it's not much worse than many other malls. Now, that being said, one of the reasons I don't like this mall is going to sound racist, but please hear me out. Too many of the store employees asume that their clientelle only speak Spanish. I have seen employees walk up to my hispanic friends and immediately start conversing in Spanish, even after hearing the customer speak English or even being specifically asked to speak English (the latter situation often results in a sneer from the employee). I've spent time in stores here where all of the PA announcements are made exclusively in Spanish. Now, considering the demographics, I can fully understand announcements being made in both English and Spanish. But to do so exclusively in Spanish is not cool. The other reason I'm not fond of this mall is the store selection. As other reviewers have said the bulk of stores are cheesey, hawking cheap knock-off wares. The "name brand" stores are all the same ones you'll find in any mall throughout the US. And there is no shortage of empty storefronts with "for lease" signs out front. With the exception of Forever 21 (which I have no reason to enter) and Big 5 (where I haven't shopped in ages), Del Monte Center has everything Northridge does and more (like a bookstore, men's professional clothing, and others), plus I can get some fresh air while shopping and receive a bit more courtesy from employees. I'm totally willing to drive a little farther for that. read more

Probably one of the dirtiest malls you will ever go to. If you have the time and more cash flow, go to Del Monte. Lots of people who shop here shop at Walmart, not Whole foods or Trader Joes. Get my point? But when I don't have time to go to Del Monte I'll just come here for Victoria's Secret or rarely Macy's. They have an ok number of low end stores with limited inventory. read more

Just trying to curb the obviously biased hating... I agree that there is a level of ghetto to this mall, but mainly because of the dumb youngsters apparently running the joint. I have never felt threatened at Northridge. I drive a red car. I've worn red and blue on separate occasions. I don't eat at food courts in general because food court food is gross. Yes, as with the entire city of Salinas, you may see more Mexican/Latino-American people than you might be used to. But the mall isn't dangerous. There are anecdotal incidents that can mar any establishment, including many snobby (poor customer service) spots in the surrounding Monterey County. With all that typed, I admit there are are very few reasons I would ever go to Northridge Shopping Center. Because really, I don't go to malls much, unless I need something specific at a store or am going to a movie or like run-on sentences. I agree with Cara C. though.... "The store selection is pretty whack.. too many cheap and ultra tacky teeny bopper shops with faux's and knock-off's for the financially impaired." Seems like not many people have nice things to say about the Northridge Mall. According to "Thumpers law": "If you can't say something nice, then don't say nothin' at all". So here's my something nice to say: I've been going to Northridge for years now and I haven't been shot at a single time!! Truth is, I don't really go too often. I buy most of my clothes online. I'll eat at the food court while I'm waiting for my car to be serviced at Firestone or if I'm going to Big 5 or Best Buy. The Panda Express at the foodcourt is better than the one at Boronda Crossing. I used to prefer the mongolian bbq place (Great Khan), but the last couple of times the beef was as tough as leather. In fact, I'm not even sure it's really beef (or even from this solar system, for that matter)! read more

I remember when this mall was the place to go on the Peninsula. It is the only indoor shopping mall in the immediate area so it still does get a lot of traffic. However the quality of the stores has gone downhill. You may find bargains, but I prefer quality to quantity. The anchor stores, Sears, JC Penney and Macys are run down and do not offer quality merchandise. Many of the other stores in the mall are geared towards tweens/teens looking for cheap clothing. I will say the carousel has always been a bright spot - so there is one positive. Other than that, I see no reason to shop here other than needing a convenient place to stop when you need something quickly. In and out ok, but this is not a pleasant shopping experience. Okay it's no king of prussia mall or mall of america but certainly is big enough. Lots of boutique stores that I dont believe are chains but they still had the gap, bed, bath & beyond, forever21. I love it because my 1 year old can find a lot of rides and things to do. So yes, for those who are childrenless... it can be a bit loud by the foodcourt because of the play area. I know people complain about the bands and dancers there but it is a great cultural experience for us. Even though we have no idea what they are saying... we love seeing the beautiful culture that the music & dancing brings. read more

We were driving north on the 101 and wanted a restroom and a place to take a walk. We decided the Northridge Mall would be a good choice. Now I remember that I had been here before some years back and the mall was getting a little dumpy. To my pleasant surprise it is being rebuilt and refurbished, and the shops that are there are so clean and welcoming. We entered through the JCPenney and found but now they are selling all kinds of huge household appliances, who would have known? Everything again was super clean, and I just almost started shopping, but I maintain my focus and use the bathrooms, which are completely new and done up in a very modern style. I was impressed. Well the mall has great long Halls lots of stores, and great air conditioning. I recommended for a stop, this may be one of the better rest areas I know of. Granted this mall does have some of the name brand stores, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I have only gone to this mall once and that was over a year ago. I prefer to go to the Del Monte Center in Monterey. I drive by this mall when I occasionally go to the movie theater located behind the mall or to the Toys R Us; but I never have a desire to go into the mall. It's not well kept and there are a lot of empty store fronts. Even though this mall is closer to where I live I am willing to drive father to go to Del Monte, their shops are cleaner, the staff in the stores are friendlier and you get to enjoy the fresh air since the Del Monte center is an outdoor mall. read more

Nothing too exciting here. As a child this was the go to place to hang out and have some fun as the stores had a variety to select from. Such as toys, games, music, books, clothes etc... But now it's all repititious. In all honesty it's looking a lot more like the indoor swapmeet on Alisal Rd. When in reality that's not a bad thing; however, when you go to a mall out of town the experience is far from an indoor swapmeet. If you catch my drift. All in all, yawn! I would recomend you check out the local boutiques in Old Town and support the local community than to come here and waste ur time shopping for something you're never going to find. read more
