I bought my first new car from Pennant Hills Hyundai, and it will be the last I ever buy from them…read more I would also strongly encourage anyone thinking of a new car purchase to think about looking elsewhere for a vehicle. At the end of June 2017 we purchased a Hyundai iLoad van for our business from Jacob Cummings. He did the hard sell, and as it was the end of the financial year we drove a hard bargain. But when we agreed on the van we didn't expect a bait and switch and be told a few days later that we couldn't get the one with the raised tailgate and reversing camera built in, but had to settle for the model with the double swing doors and a cheap after-market camera that does not give an accurate guide of the van's footprint. I've already almost bumped into another car because the reversing camera indicates that there is clearance to the sides when in actual fact if I had continued reversing I would have scraped someone's Maserati. But we figured swing doors and an after-market camera small sacrifice to live with, and went through with the sale thinking we could get the camera upgraded or adjusted. However, when going over the vehicle I indicated we would probably get rid of the cargo barrier bulkhead. Jacob assured us that this was a pretty easy job, but upon getting it home I realised it was not. When I booked it in for its complimentary one-month service I said I'd like it taken out, only to be told when I arrived that this service was an involved procedure and would take several hours and I would have to pay for it. I informed them that I was told otherwise, so they checked with Jacob's sales manager (who I understand is Jeremy Dench) who passed on back to me through the service department that I had been misinformed by Jacob. Some might call this misinformation a lie - and if I had the time to clear it by my solicitor to ensure I was not slandering anyone I might be calling it a lie as well. Suffice to say we will never set foot in Pennant Hills Hyundai ever again, and will discourage anyone and everyone we know in or around Sydney to find another dealer to purchase their next vehicle off. I realise it's a first world problem having to drive a van around for several years that we did not even want, but when you commit to spending tens of thousands of dollars on a work vehicle you don't expect to be given a bait and switch and then fed 'misinformation' about it just so they could clear it out the door. I now have to outlay money to get a reverse camera that is safe, and pay to have the cargo barrier removed. Needless to say I won't be spending another dollar at Pennant Hills Hyundai. I hope they patted themselves on the back for their sales achievement and that Hyundai Australia were happy they were able to offload an end-of-financial-year model, but I'm very disappointed to the point of being borderline disgusted.
