Leeds Building Society

This is a large building in the centre of Bedlington Front Street. It is easy to see at is a…read morestand-alone building and has a huge yellow sign. There are carparks at either end of the front street or a few limited spaces at the front of the building. There is a small door at the front- disabled people may need help to enter. The building has a large glass facade which looks very official and business-like. There are usually company posters adorning the glass. It is always very clean and smart looking. Indoors there are boothes at the back of the building where you can carry out your transactions. There are usually two or three staff here. Otherwise the inside is quite empty looking and could probably benefit from some desks or stands. Staff here are quick and efficient. They tend to be quite straightfaced and treat you in a busines-like manner.
TSB Bank
This bank is located centrally on Bedlington Front Street. It is opposite the Council Office…read moreBuildings and near to the post office. The building is well signposted. There is a few car park spaces near the building at the front or a carpark behind the front street with alleys leading around to the building. There is a flat surface into the bank and automatic doors so very easy access for disabled customers. There is an external cash machine which will accept most Visa cards - I have never been charged for a withdrawl from this machine. There is also an ATM indoors. Both machines are very busy and there is usally either one or two people waiting to use them. Inside the bank the interiors are clean and posh looking with plants to brighten the area (it is windowless). On the left there are the tills where you can carry out your banking transitions. There are usally three or four members of staff here. There is a designated queueing area in front of the boothes. There are offices on the right where you can hold private meetings with the banking staff. I find the staff are usually pleasant although they will often seem under-trained concerning some issues.

In the past we have been with other insurance companies but they often have call-centres in different countries and with all due respect, the telephone assistants often cannot understand your query. Hence why we recently went back to Swinton and are so far very impressed with the service received. Not only that but they offered us a very competitive quote, the guy we dealt with was very friendly and the application process was straightforward.

The branch itself is a short walk from the main Bridges shopping centre. It is pleasant inside, though quite small. There is hardly ever a queue to be served. They used to offer quite attractive rates on their savings products, and I think they still do although in the current climate rates in general are not very good! The lady I spoke to when I opened my account was very happy to help, even though I had loads of awkward questions to ask, and I didn't feel rushed like in some banks. Oerall I've only had a good experience of this building society, unlike some of the larger banks and building societies I think these are more focused on giving good customer service which is important.

However, so far, Halifax is the best. It has absolutely loads of branches in newcastle. It is really good network branch. I don't have to go city centre to pop in to its branch. it is everywhere. It has the best network in newcastle. Its branch in Metrocentre even opens until 8 pm Monday to Friday (no banks open until this late) and 4 pm on saturday. Its financial products are mostly the best in the market as well.
I was referred to trinity by a friend when I was looking at becoming a financial adviser myself…read more When an adviser called me and said he would come round and discuss the options I though'oh yeah and try to make as many sales as you can'. I was delightfully surprised with the meeting. The adviser was very helpful with my questions and as I thought did ask about my personal circumstances. He explained where he thought we had a shortfull and what we could do to fix it. He said that he was paid by the company provider but as he was governed by the FSA he couldn't sell us the product that made him the most if that wasn't the best product for us. We have been with the same adviser for nearly 4 years now and have never been pressured into taking a product or go with a particular company. There have been a couple of times when we have decided that we haven't been able to afford the suggested 'route' and the adviser has looked at other options with us or left it until we could afford. The branch itself is outdated and needs a facelift - but this does not affect the way the advisers work and shows that they are good with money - why spend it on decorating when it's not a necessity.
