I've been lucky not to have need to contact the police regularly but when I do it has to be through a forgettable number - last time I think I had to go through Northumbria Police at Bedlington! It puzzles me because this is a sizeable building and a fair sized town, but it'll all be to do with budgets. I have seen more community police officers patrollign or walking the streets lately, trying to keep an eye on spots where there is regular night time trouble.

This is a large library.You'll find it opposite the police station at the High Street end of…read moreFerndale Avenue in Wallsend.It's housed in a very outdated looking 60s style building which looks pretty shabby by any standards. The library does have a good range of books and the staff will happily order any that are available in other libraraies in the borough. You can hire cds and dvds and there are the usual daily newspapers and magazines to read. Internet access is free too. The libraray may not look good but it does offer all you need and the staff are realy efficient.
