This seems like a moneymaking scam and a pretty obvious one at that. 1. They only take cash. 2. In Port Angeles, they are notorious for failing the same drivers over and over at $75 a pop. Jason at the Port Angeles branch is creepy and he will fail you repeatedly. His objections to your driving will be random and subjective, rather than about driving rules that you've broken. For instance, during parking, he will say you were too close or not close enough but he will not bother to actually get out and look at the distance (or even open the door to look). The times on web page for testing are inaccurate. waste of time driving back and forth to school to find out they changed the schedule. instructor on site rudely tells kids to leave and then tells parent it's not my problem, in reference to the inaccurate website. I wouldn't recommend this school. My son went through this school's driving course, and I was unimpressed. They use a curriculum that is outdated and not geared to the Washington State Driving Test. My son "passed" the course, but came out ill-equipped for driving or passing his DOL test. I ended up signing him up for a different driving school for a "refresher" to equip him with the information that was lacking. His instructor said they get a lot of students from Northwest Driving School to re-do driver's ed. Don't waste your money! read more

I have had two of my children failed by their Port Townsend instructor two separate times each. This last one, he told my son when he came in to have a specific paper next time he comes in. NEXT TIME! He knew before they got in the car that he was going to fail him. My children drive just fine, with little or no mistakes. The mistake he claimed was an automatic fail for my son, we called the local police department to ask if it was a moving violation. They said it was not. It is a money making scheme. No one passes the first or even second time. They make their money by forcing kids to come back repeatedly. Ultimately your license will cost hundreds of dollars thru them. read more

STAY AWAY!!! My son was failed within 1/4 block of their driveway. Wasn't allowed to complete the test so he could see what true strengths/weaknesses were. Money-hungry business taking advantage of being in a region with few choices of driving schools. read more

Find another way to help your child get a drivers license. They will rip you off. And the tests that they use to teach children are not even valid WA driving questions. My kid took a couple of their tests 3 times and I sat in on a couple they were near impossible to understand. Save your $600 there has to be a better way. Also DO NOT PAY them to test your kids driving, they look for anything to end test quickly and do not even give the entire test. also the instructor told my kid she was going to cause accidents for being cautious at controller intersections and that she shouldn't slow down because the guy behind her was going to rear end her. I've taught ALL my children to be cautious at intersections period. read more

Two of my 3 kids have gone through this program with two completely inconsistent instances. I will be more the wiser with child number 3. These people are complete jerks. Though I doubt you will find a more thorough and comprehensive driving school for teens, I was quite disappointed by one aspect of this school's curriculum. While I understand that the driver's education for kids' prime directive is to teach kids how to safely and legally navigate traffic and pass the DOL driving test, they lack in teaching kids how to handle the vehicle in every driving condition. What I am referring to, particularly, is that they do not in any way teach their students how to use side view mirrors to back the car up in reverse. While this skill may not apply to most conditions, my children (both of whom have just completed the course) are 100% completely unprepared to back a car up if they can not see through the back window. This condition exists when you have a station wagon with cargo in the back, a pickup truck with a load that obstructs the view, a panel van with no rear windows, a U-haul or other moving truck, the list goes on ad-infinitum. This issue became apparent when my now graduated and licensed daughter had difficulty backing up over a long distance in a straight line. I believe it is not reasonable to expect anyone to be able to perform such a maneuver without using the side view mirrors to be certain the car is aligned parallel to the driveway/alley etc. It baffles me how such a comprehensive school (requiring the kids to change spare tires, simulated tire blowouts, simulated hood popping open while driving etc. etc.) could miss such a crucial skill. To be fair, this school has a reputation among kids to be the toughest and most comprehensive school in the area, which I absolutely appreciate. I just wish it didn't require (after all that expense) supplemental education on my part in order for my teens to be able to simply back up a vehicle whose rear window is obstructed. read more

Find someone else to teach your kids to drive. The communication with this organization is slow, terrible and passive aggressive. Ask any question (email and messenger only) and expect to get half an answer and a snarky emoji. They scheduled the drives during the Zoom meetings asking the kids "hey, who wants this drive time?". I fully agree with the rest of these reviews...They only care about money so find another school even if you have to wait. Your student is the last on their minds and raking in as much money as possible is their goal. They are unorganized and their communication skills are terrible. During COVID they were able to take in as many as 75 students per class as it was online, however, they only had two people to facilitate drives so as I searched and saw they had 10 classes and did the math I quickly realized it was going to take a year at this rate for most of these kids to get through the entire course but they didn't care, they only saw big dollar signs without worrying about how long it would take to get approx 5-700 students completely through drivers ed. This is a horrible place. Unfortunately it our only option and they know that. The communication is so bad. It's almost worth reporting them to get them shut down. If your child misses any classes expect them to miss school to make it up. Oh and you will have to pay extra to make up the class or I should say classes because if you miss one you don't get the homework so the next class you won't be able to attend because you didn't do the homework. read more

This was a great school for my son to get his license through. He learned a lot, he respects the road, his license, they challenged him to actually study. I feel that he earned his completion certificate, is well prepared for the world of being a licensed driver, and retained much of the knowledge 10 months after completing the course when he took his skills/knowledge tests (passed first time on both). NDS prices for drivers testing are less expensive than other schools around. I would like to see the ability to make appointments online or more hours available for weekday testing options (after school hours) read more

Worst school ever the female driving instructor said as soon as I walked in that I was going to fail because I didn't do the drivers ed school threw them, sent me to the car by myself then proceeded to talk to my parents or 20 min and finally when comes out to the car said I had my seat positioned wrong? Refused to give me clear instructions ex: Park the car like you would on a hill. Then when I asked up hill or down hill said that she couldn't disclose information during a test, told me I was driving in the bike lane when I was making a left hand turn. Absolute worst place to go she failed the 3 people before me feels like she's just trying to make money. read more

My son and daughter took both their written and driving test at this school with a nice man named Sam. We live on Bainbridge Island and both of my kids expressed that they wished they had taken driving lessons with him. They thoroughly enjoyed his personality and they felt comfortable and relaxed with him. The school on our island does not have a good reputation, but because of convenience, they both took their classes there. I regret that, but thought I should recommend this school for the next parent needing to make this important decision. read more

This school is outstanding, with rigorous and extensive classroom training, testing, and behind-the-wheel/observation driving instruction time. When I decided to provide scholarship funding for teenager students in our church, I chose this program because of the quality of the curriculum and I'm very satisfied with the results and so are the students that I sponsored. When anyone asks me about driving schools, this school, in my opinion, is the gold standard. read more

Northwest driving school charged me for a missed drive even though they sent me thewrong time. They moved drives around without our permission. Take your kids somewhere else. This school will stick it to you every chance they get. read more
