Community Park says it all and there is a community garden. This park has the usual playground and picnic areas and service building. The treasure is the active life plan. A walking path through a nature preserve with a pond that actually roars in the spring from frogs calling out to each other. There are various exercise stations along the path with stretching equipment. Add a tennis court and we have compact park with nearly everything tucked away in a quiet corner of the twin cities.

Loved our weekend trip to this park! When we arrived, the parking lot was very busy and there were…read morevery few spots left, even though it's a pretty sizeable lot for a park. We quickly learned this was because there was a special event going on (the Sankofa celebration) inside the center, with vendor tables and a couple of food trucks and even some crafting activities. So we got to experience that on top of the rest of the park's great amenities! The center is sleek and modern inside. LOTS of toilets (single occupant, all-gender), lots of coat hangars, multiple water bottle refill stations. The ground level has some cool reptile/amphibians behind glass you can ogle, as well as interactive informational displays (great for kids and adults, imo). Downstairs they have the rental booth for gear and educational rooms (they had a falcon demo in one while we were there!). Beside the center is an awesome multilevel playground, very fun. As well as a splash pad (for non-winter months) and an elevated boardwalk. The most nearby attraction is obviously the dam, which has an impressive spillway that's mesmerizing to watch. You can even walk across it to go over the river to the park on the other side. Apparently this spot is popular with fishers (though I don't have much knowledge on that subject). There are also trails that can be explored. Paved routes good for all recreational uses, as well as further out hiking paths that are just dirt. It'd be great to come back out again sometime and explore more. Across the street it seemed there was even archery!

I've driven past this park many times as it was being built and figured it was time to check it…read moreout! Parking: There are free two parking lots but neither is overly large. You may need to street park and walk. The playground is colorful and has lots of fun equipment. I noticed there are definitely wheelchair accessible items for kids to play on. The ground is a mix of rubber and wood chips. There is a volleyball court, basketball court, fishing dock and public grills. There are also indoor bathrooms and a filtered water bottle station. I was very impressed with how well maintained this park seems to be! There is a beach here, however geese have taken it over and there was a ton of poop all over the sand. I would not swim here. If you haven't checked this park out yet, you need to! Your kids will love it! The ice cream truck also makes stops here!

Was in the area as we are in the market to buy a home, and any home we buy needs to be close by to…read morea public park! So before my scheduled tour time, I came here to scope it out. The road up to this park (Asher) is a bit steep, but not too long. I noticed some tennis and basketball courts on the way in. The parking lot is a bit small (not many spots) if you needed to drive there, but perhaps this park doesn't get a lot of visitors. It was pretty quiet while I was there, which is nice. There's a play structure for the kids close to the parking lot, and further beyond a rudimentary baseball diamond. Personally, I was there to hike around. There was a map that showed the many trails available. All of them are unpaved and very winding, and I couldn't actually find them under all the snowpack. So I just kind of wandered the landscape and enjoyed the trees and lake for an hour. Nothing too strenuous, but there was some change in elevation. No formalized bathroom facilities that I saw, but they had a port-a-potty with hand sanitizer in it, so that was plenty sufficient for my needs.

Additionally, there have the cutest tree nursery where you can do so much fun stuff. They also have state-of-the-art biking trails! Though I haven't been on them for biking, my sneak peek was enough to make me vow to do it next time! Plenty of parking space too! Only downside to this park is there are no kid-friendly toilets. There's only one porta-potty which leaves a lot to be desired. Otherwise, great experiences all-around!

Country Lakes Park has a paved trail, picnic tables and a scenic view of Reshanau Lake. In the past, there has been a fishing pier (but not yet out this season due to CV-19?). This rustic park offers a quiet view of the lake and basic picnic tables. There are no shelters/playground equipment/amenities but has lots of trees/nature/views.

I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out. Can't wait for next ski season!

We have made a tradition of coming here the day after Thanksgiving. I am from out of town, visiting…read morefamily and friends. The building is a perfect space for bringing a large group together for games, chatting, eating, and sledding on the snowy hills just outside the doors. They used to serve hot food, but they no longer have that option. The food was not consistent or anything all that special, but it was a nice option. This time we brought Thanksgiving leftovers and some breakfast bagel sandwiches. The space is well maintained and clean. It is spacious and has lots of room for young kids to run around and not be a disturbance. Always look forward to coming here.

There's some nice ponds throughout the woods that has swans geese and other birds. Theres also a playground near the visitor center. Kiddos always look like they're having a blast, and plenty of people will get up and dance (see the photo!). Lovely place to come visit on a Thursday evening if you have some time, just bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on!
