This pavilion is definitely more crowded now due to Frozen and character meet and greets. As far as a ride/attraction there's a Frozen themed boat ride. As far as food goes, there are a selection of different pastries and there's some sandwiches as well. Definitely a great spot for families and younger kids. read more

Stopped by the bakery and YUM!!! We got the school bread, orange cinnamon roll, and school bread themed cold brew. The cold brew was well balancing and not too sweet. Loved the coconut cold foam. The cinnamon roll came out warm. It is a bit dry but if you use the icing it balances well. The school bread took the cake, it was the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. read more

This was my most favorite pavilion among all. First of all the Frozen ride is here. The exit of the ride goes through the gift shop. The shop has such amazing stuff. Of course they have Frozen characters, costumers and souvenir goods. But they also have Disney Viking themed items as well. As we walked through the shop we ended up in a section that was selling Norway branded lotion, body wash and facial. It smelled so good, despite being $50 per bottle, we ended up buying them. There were also multiple restaurants and stall that sold Norwegian food and drinks. There were huge lines in all of them, easily taking 15-20 minutes to order any food. read more

Norway is one of the most criminally underrated pavilions at EPCOT. Everyone knows it now because of Frozen Ever After -- Anna, Elsa, Olaf, yada yada, cue "Let It Go" tattooed into your skull for eternity. And yes, the ride is fun, beautifully done, and pure Disney IP printing press magic. But let's not forget: this pavilion was here long before Elsa froze Orlando solid. History check: Norway Pavilion opened in 1988 as the newest kid on the World Showcase block. Back then, it was a cultural love letter funded partly by the Norwegian government itself, who ponied up millions until they got tired of subsidizing Americans taking selfies with Vikings. Originally, the star attraction was Maelstrom -- a dark boat ride that was part history lesson, part fever dream. You floated past trolls, oil rigs, and polar bears like someone mashed a travel brochure with an acid trip. Disney closed it in 2014, broke the hearts of purists, and rebuilt it into Frozen Ever After in 2016. Edgy truth? I still miss Maelstrom. It was weird, it was wild, and it felt like something Bourdain himself would've loved because it wasn't sanitized. It was Norway with claws. That said, there's still way more here than just Frozen. The architecture is gorgeous -- stone churches, wooden stave structures, and details lifted from centuries of Norwegian design. There's a replica Stave Church Gallery filled with history, mythology, and runes that remind you this culture existed long before Idina Menzel hit a high note. Thr Norway Pavilion offers a handful of different exhibits that includes some nice little artifacts as well as the story behind thr Norse god Thor and Odin. It's a very tiny one room but it is very pleasant little area to relax and take in some history. The Pavilion also offered a meet and greet with queen Elsa and Anna from Frozen. The wait tends to get high but it isn't horrible because the queue is inside thankfully to escape the heat of Florida! They have a nice little qucin service food stop that offers a delicious Norwegian school bread. I love the flavor of it because of the amazing cream filling as well as some brilliant coconut shaving covering the top. I love being able to sit and people watch as I enjoy this quick little snack. I also love the Frozen ride they have here and while it is a great ride, I wouldn't wait long for it because it is short for the usually high wait time. I love the themeing because it's high tech and the animatronics on this ride are some of my favorite at the Disney parks! Cobblestone paths, turf-roofed buildings, that chilly Elsa breeze in the air -- it's got such a distinct, chilly-but-cozy vibe that feels like a snow globe come to life. Frozen Ever After Let's be real: this is what most people are here for -- and it's absolutely worth the hype. You hop on a boat and glide through Arendelle, past Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven, with Elsa belting "Let It Go" in her ice palace like it's her final tour stop. That backward drop? Totally unexpected and a fan favorite in our family. Now, fair warning: the line can get long. Like, Magic Kingdom rope drop long. The Norway pavilion is seemed after Elsa as well. So you will find Olf and Elsa from frozen ever after throughout the pavilion. You can also find different God's mentioned such as Thor, Odin and Loki. And some of the food options that you can find in this area include rice, cream, chocolate, pretzels, blueberry muffins, yogurt, parfaits, Viking, dogs, and Norwegian club sandwiches. Norway Pavilion is one of my favorites at Disney World's World Showcase area at Epcot. The pavilion was first opened in 1988 and was designed to celebrate the culture of Norway. The design is inspired by traditional Norwegian architecture. It's centerpiece is a replica of the Stave Church from Norway's Gol region. The church actually has the Frozen Ever After attraction. This ride takes you through a journey of the World of frozen, with appearances of some of my favorite characters in the movie such as Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff. The wait can be relatively lengthy. Over the summer days, it can get to over an hour long wait time. It is one of the more popular rides in Epcot. It's a slow, boat, dark, water ride. The Norway pavilion also features a variety of dining and shopping options. The main restaurant in the pavilion is the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, is currently closed. I've always liked the 58,000 square feet Norway Pavilion but now that is has Frozen Ever After, it's my favorite pavilion. Located just past Mexico in the World Pavilion at Epcot in Disney World, the first thing you'll notice is the stave church. Why is the 1988 opening Norway Pavilion so amazing, you ask? BEST CHARACTER DINING: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is my favorite character dining in all of Disney World where you can meet a plethora of Princesses. BEST EPCOT RIDE: Frozen Ever After which opened in 2016. I'm biased because Elsa is my role model, but it's such a solid ride. I loved Maelstrom but this Disney-fied version is surely my preference. FANTASTIC TREAT: The infamous schoolbread is $5 at the Kringla Bakeri of Kafe is a Disney fan-favorite, but only if you're a coconut fan. I prefer the open faced salmon sandwiches. FUN ARTIFACTS: Listen, now that my DNA test now shows I have a lot of Viking in me, I'm interested to go back here to check this out more thoroughly. CHARACTER GREETINGS: As aforementioned, Elsa is my soul sistah so meeting her is the best character meet & greet of them all in my eyes. Anna's there, too. TROLLS. I tried the frozen coffee this time and it was decent but not amazing. They have lots of pastries and sweets but we don't get those as they seem too heavy as you are walking around in the heat. I have mixed feelings when it comes to the Norway pavilion. My opinions might be unpopular to the average Disney goer, but I can only speak from my childless millennial perspective. Norway is one of two pavilions around the World Showcase that is not original to the park - opening in 1988, six years after Epcot. The layout of the pavilion kind of resembles Germany in a way - open in the center with shops and restaurants along the perimeter. Before 2013, the two main highlights of the pavilion were a replica of a cathedral which contained Viking history and a boat ride called Maelstrom. The latter had somewhat of a cult following due to its whimsical, almost campy depiction of Norway's history. The pavilion's sit-down restaurant, Akershus, had been a general Norwegian restaurant but was revamped to be a Disney Princess character meal restaurant some time ago. After Frozen was released, the pavilion went through a major refresh - merchandise from the movie took over a huge chunk of the retail space, the cathedral was refreshed to include references to the movie, and Maelstrom was closed - making way for a new boat ride depicting scenes from Frozen. Also, a new space containing an Anna and Elsa meet and greet was added. While the Frozen additions increased the popularity of the pavilion greatly, I personally feel that it took away a lot from the charm and culture of the pavilion. I might be biased because I've never loved Frozen, but Epcot is a special place and inundating every facet with references to the film took away from the uniqueness of the pavilion. I understand why Disney would want to capitalize on the movie's popularity, but it doesn't make it hurt less. Despite all this, I still have a soft spot for the pavilion - Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is one of my favorite counter service eateries in WDW and shouldn't be missed, and there's still some of the original charm left in the retail space. If you love Frozen and/or the Disney Princesses this will be a hot spot for you, but as someone who is kind of an Epcot purist, I'm slightly disappointed. read more

Besides trolls & there's a really big one here, what else does Norway have to offer. Well the Frozen ride is here - cool a couple of times, more often if you have kids. But it's the shops we gravitate towards. There's a nice selection of Helly-Hansen clothing in this one. Occasionally good in Florida, but for those of us living in a place where winters get cold this is great. Who better to make quality warm stuff than a country straddling the Arctic Circle. Of course the snacks, treats and bakery and all of its delicious goodies gives us another reason to stop. But before you leave take a walk through the Stave Church located in the entrance to the pavilion. read more

Norway Pavilion is pretty cute. It doesn't feed fully into the "stereotypes" of Norway that some other pavilions do, it instead has a pretty classy gift shop, food and drink stands, and is of course home to the Frozen ride as well. The Frozen ride was unfortunately down while we were here, so we didn't end up spending much time in this area. We did check out the gift shop and it was a lot of really nice Norway merch, a cute and massive troll statue, and then some really nice Norwegian branded companies where you could get proper apparel from! read more

The Norway pavilion is the home of "Frozen ever after." It also has a stave church a restaurant, and a bakery. In front of the church a Viking statue stands for a photo opportunity. During the EPCOT flower and garden festival they erected a topiary of a troll as well as topiaries of Anna, Olaf, and Elsa. They are good works of art. The restaurant Akershus royal banquet hall is currently closed. The bakery Kringla Baker og Kafe serves up some delicious pastries. A gift shop is at the end of the Frozen ride selling "Frozen" items along with other souvenirs. It's a worthwhile walk around even if you are not visiting the Frozen attraction. The Norway pavilion is right between the Chinese and Mexican pavilion's. Right away you see the massive Stave Church, a medieval wooden church. Popular part of the World Showcase because of the movie Frozen. From the courtyard being the entrance to the Frozen ever after. Fun ride to experience, as you travel to Arendelle on a ancient Nordic vessel. Lot's of sing along opportunities. The line goes fast. Also, the Anna and Elsa's Royal Sommerhus, walk through their summer cabin... lot's of great detail. Once through the cabin you get a meet n greet with both Anna and Elsa. A few restaurants and shops to check out. I really liked Kringla Baker og Kafe. So many pastries to choose from.. go with the cream horns! Loved the art detail involved throughout the pavilion. I long for the days when this pavilion held Maelstrom and the odd larger-than-life painting of a Norwegian with his hair blowing in the harsh, cold wind, but the pavilion is still pretty great with Frozen Ever After in it! For me, as someone who loves rides, they automatically get a leg-up over the other countries for this alone, but I also feel like the general feel of the pavilion is on-point. I recently traveled to Norway and saw many similarities in the facades depicted, so the pavilion does a nice job of giving that quick Norwegian flavor. They have a nice bakery in pavilion as well that should not be missed! read more

Not gonna lie, I miss the old Norway Pavilion. I enjoyed the Maelstrom ride and the fun troll theme and shop it exited to. The movie that showed after the ride was excellent and super informative. The new pavilion area is great, and has plenty to do, it's just more in line with Disney and Frozen than being a good representation of Norway as a country. The Frozen meet and greet is usually a short wait, and has a fun queue with plenty of theming. For the ride, it's a different story. The line is always crazy long and fast passes go QUICK. If you have the app you can try refreshing it frequently to grab one, but as soon as a new day of passes opens, they are gone within minutes. The shops are very Frozen centric as well. The outside of the pavilion is excellent. It has a very Nordic vibe and is very welcoming. A couple of food options can be found here as well. I love Epcot and I really enjoy the Norway Pavilion and its attractions. I always make it a point to take the Maelstrom boat ride when I visit Epcot because it's cool! I love that the boat goes both forward and backward, and who doesn't love giant trolls? The stores are also great and the giant troll inside the Norway store is an awesome photo op. I noticed that Norway (women) and Italy (men) have the most requests for photos with the employees. Pretty blondes abound in Norway. read more

This pavilion was not really a sought out destination until the Frozen Ever After ride opened here. Now it is always busy. The pavilion is set to look like a Norwegian village and displays four different kinds of architectural styles - Setesdal, Bergen, Oslo, and Alesund. This includes grass on the roof of some of the shops - which looks really cool. The stave church is the first thing that stands out. Modeled after the 13th Century churches found in Norway, this iconic style is something unique to the area. Be sure to go inside - not everyone realizes the building is not just for show. Outside of the church, towards the courtyard, is a statue of Olaf II (no, not that Olaf) who was king and Patron Saint of Norway. read more

This place has some fun Norwegien food. I liked the little bakery that had authentic baked goods. The Frozen ride is a huge draw but this was honestly the first year we got to ride it. Another plus is this is one of the few pavilions that does pin trading. They have a cool little mini-museum to the Viking gods and lifestyle. It felt kind of random in the middle of all the Frozen stuff but it was cute (though it gave me serious Avengers so maybe they'll update it one day now that Disney owns the Avengers?) read more

Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by this pavilion, but we also missed the vikings that periodically show up so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. And why is there no mead here? There should totally be mead. And Thor. I'm sure Chris Hemsworth is a bit busy, but surely someone has the abs to portray him at a Disney park? That said, the shop has a lot of authentic Scandinavian candy (their chocolate is the best) and a cool troll statue, and the bakery is currently being updated so maybe I'd be more impressed if it was open. The Frozen ride is fun, and the meet and greet would be better if you could get a picture with both sisters. read more

As with all EPCOT world showcase experiences at the moment, you're not interacting with people from those counties and Norway is no exception. You're dealing with lazy US kids who know nothing about anything they even sell. They can only provide you with a standard Disney response. If you're going to make a Geir Ness purchase for some new cologne, be warned that the cologne no longer has the same shelf life as it once did. It'll go bad long before you have the opportunity to use it all. I've spent lots of money on this stuff and while it's great for a month or two, it'll turn to alcohol, and for a $70 purchase, I don't recommend it. Even when brought to the attention of the employees, they really don't seem to care, another new a Disney trait. They just expect you to buy another bottle. Not me, can't do it. If your Disney experience involves over priced cologne that goes bad before it should then this is your place! read more

As much as anywhere in the countries, the Norway pavilion is filled with things that exemplify and identify with Norway. You definitely feel like you have stepped into something different when you cross the threshold of Norway. From Viking statues, to one of the most bizzare rides at Disney, Norway is a fun experience. Don't miss it. The movie is not much different from any of the other ones around the showcase. The restaraunt has a princess themed dining experience without the burden of Cindy's castle waits. I haven't done this one so I can't speak for the food. There are often artifacts from Norway at the pavilion. The stores has Hansen gear along with other country correct clothing for sale. The one thing that bothered me a bit was that I didn't find any Northwestern gear from the boat on Deadliest Catch. I had heard that they carried their shirts, here. Was totally looking forward to buying Northwestern gear. Other than that, we had a great time. My kids even put viking helmets on and posed with the wood troll in the store. "Back back over the falls." It hasn't to be the cheesiest ride ever, but I love the Maelstrom located here. There is never a wait, and its a great way to escape the heat. The gift shop has some amazing sweaters in the back, but they are a bit pricey. Cute troll related stuff in the center gift shop. And we love the cologne they sell here for men, and always pick up a bottle when we are low. Just smelling that takes me back to our vacation at Epcot. You can also take your picture with a giant troll here, while wearing a Viking hat. The Stave Church is fun to explore inside but you can do it quickly as there is not much to see inside. The bakery is amazing. I always have to get school bread while Im here. And they have the cutest Norwegian boys working here! read more

Why? * Malestrom could be the best ride, especially on a hot summer day. * The Stave Church is really impressive and looks like it could be in a Game of Thrones episode. *Two words - School Bread * has some of the best late day sunset views on the lake, and the scent of Jasmine in the summer is amazing. * Be sure to visit the troll in the gift shop for a memorable pic. * Be a kid and play the Phineas and Fog spy game with the free cell phone - fun for all ages. read more

This review is more about Prinsesse Plass and the experience of meeting Anna and Elsa in Norway, because that's basically what we spent our time there to do. Before anyone reads further, I'll tell you right now - yes, the rumors are true, the line was really four and a half (actually, we ended up at five and a half) hours long to meet the two beloved princesses from the hit movie Frozen. My boyfriend and I were visiting Walt Disney World to celebrate our one year anniversary as well as Valentine's Day and we wanted to meet these two princesses very much. We entered the World Showcase over by France at 11am, as soon as the ropes dropped to allow us entrance. By the time we walked the distance to Norway, the line was already up to a four and a half hour wait. (I could hardly believe it myself). The cast members were very kind and pleasant to us and to everyone around, saying that only one member of a party was required to stand and hold place in line so the others could move about (and entertain the potentially cranky children). My boyfriend and I became acquainted with some of the families around us in line and so we took turns rotating to stretch our legs, see other attractions, get food - the works. I really have to commend the cast members who were working crowd control for the line. They had a small corralled area set up right by Prinsesse Plass entrance for the people who were immediately next in line to see the princesses, and then there were breaks in the line to allow access to walkways, shops, restaurants and things around Norway. The cast members were attentive and courteous to everyone and managed the line efficiently. The only thing that would have made it better might have been a canopy to block out the 80 degree sun, but that's Florida for you :) Actually meeting Anna and Elsa was lovely! Prinsesse Plass is a small building decorated with each of their portraits on either side and a beautiful interior paying tribute to Arendelle's kingdom. Anna and Elsa were, of course, courteous and gracious hostesses! If you have princesses in your family or circle of friends, young or old, I recommend visiting Anna and Elsa. Along with the Moroccan pavilion, the Norway pavilion is one of the best kept secrets in EPCOT. Here are some reasons why I tell people to start on the Mexico side of the World Showcase and work clockwise so they can enjoy the Norway part before they've had a bit too much to drink: Maelstrom the Ride: My family must be the biggest dorks alive because we know all of the "lines" that the trolls say on the ride. *DISAPPEAR DISAPPEAR* I'm sure the tourists must roll their eyes at us because we totally get into this ride every single time we go to Disney. I think I've been on this about 40 times. No joke. In all seriousness though, the detail on this ride is amazing in true Disney fashion. Check out the giant mural while you're in the ride queue and the Norwegian seafaring town when you get off the ride. Also, if you've never been on the ride before, make sure you see the short 10-min Norway movie at the end. A lot of people just pass through the theater and onto the giant gift shop without seeing it, but the film is worth seeing just once. Speaking of the gift shop, the Norway and China gift shops tie for the best variety of stuff from their native country. If they still sell it (especially for women), I highly HIGHLY recommend you get a travel sample of the Laila perfume. It's what makes the gift shop smell so amazing like crisp, clean linens. The shop also sells a hefty amount of Helly Hansen, embroidered sweaters, and lots of other great clothes for the cooler temps. Those Norwegians know how to do skiwear right. Also, last but not least, the SCHOOLBREAD. Oh my gosh, this stuff is amazing. The Kringla bakery owns the France bakery not only in the pastry category but also in the friendliness category. Did I mention that the Norwegian male cast members are smoking hot?!? I rest my case. read more

I really liked this pavilion, although there was a huge focus on the movie frozen, and not as much of a focus on the country for Norway itself. They had a bunch of really cool items in the gift shops, and a ship ride. This is also where you can shell out some cash to have lunch or dinner with Disney Princesses, which seems like a must for people with small children! read more
