Joe, you remind me of *CrAzY~* vanilla ice cream, lure us in with your promises of something different and beautiful exteriors then bam! First bite, oh, right.... It's vanilla. So the bread, I like the spruced up dipping sauce (evoo, Parmesan, red pepper flakes) but as someone born and braised on proper Italian bread, this just wasn't my thing. Had some to have the alioi, but that was the end of that. The menu is like Cheesecake Factory type of schizophrenic, any cuisine you may want (save for Ethiopian and possibly polish) there is probably a representation for it. Had the apps been a bit more reasonable in price I think my mom and I would have gone about splitting a couple of those which looked so much better coming to the table around us then the entrees. I got the feta turkey burger, and when it came out about 40 minutes later... It was pink. First bite, practically raw. Frantic my mom made some random server take it away. Our waitress and the manager both came over like I was blowing something out of proportion. I'm sorry, poultry must be cooked thoroughly and I'm traveling for work this week so I cannot risk food borne illness. Another burger that was thinner and cooked all the way through was sheepishly brought out by a line cook who they then made apologize for the first burger. Not a huge deal, I just wanted it cooked properly. I loved the Mediterranean salad that came with the burger, make that a full size option on the menu! The fully cooked burger was kind of lacking in flavor, some oregano or other Greek inspired spices could have remedied that. My mom got the tomato mozzarella and chicken sandwich. She liked it but said the standout of her meal happened to be the fries (which as I snuck a few waiting for my new burger- yum yum kids, super crispy and brown, no batter/coating and sea salt) The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous, as we sat outside the whole time my mom and I kept exchanging "it's such a shame this is behind the Warwick mall". Also, while the sewage treatment plant is still technically defunct after the flooding of 2010, when the wind turns a certain way the unmistakeable scent will waft over, so keep that in mind on hot days. read more

Well done salmon came out raw, caesar salad had mostly bitter core luttuce and very little green, green beans "sauteed w/ garlic and seasoned" tasted like nothing, mashed garlic potatoes were dry and pasty, portion of steak tips was meager for $18, chowder lacked substance. Hilight of the meal was the free bread and the side of fries, both excellent. Service, while efficient, seemed apathetic. No manager came by to check on us after there was a problem, server never asked. $63 after tax/tip - there are much better and less expensive options in the area - fell ripped off honestly. Hostess was very nice, saved you from 1 star, but honestly 90% of the staff looked miserable. Bad vibe/atmosphere. This place is out of the rotation for the forseeable future. read more

What a great place and an amazing staff! Some friends and I went to NYAJ in Warwick this past Saturday night and we had such a great time! The food was amazing, but it wasn't the only stand out of the night. Our waiter, Nick P. was one of the best waiters I have ever had! He was attentive, courteous, prompt and extremely friendly. He made some great recommendations for food and drinks and was a large part of why we had such a great night! The Manager James was also fantastic, and we were all impressed by how involved in all the aspects of the restaurant he was. I came here to have dinner with my girlfriend, we ordered steak wedge and fried chicken. We were really hungry and looking forward to have some good dinner. The waiter was extremely unprofessional, he did not provide us with any silverware, he was very rude. We were the only Asian couple at that time, he did not smile or being friendly to us, but he does to other table. We did not care at the beginning thinking that he might just had a long day, but he took the order late. All other tables, who came in after us is received their food, but we still haven't received the food. The bread came out cold and hard like a rock, the food came cold. The chicken was hard and dry, the steak was bitter, it was overcooked on the outside and undercook on the inside ( we ordered medium). The waiter did not check on is until the end and ask us about the food, we told the truth about how bad it tasted. He called the manager, she did not handle the situation instead she insisted that our taste buds might be wrong ( We ordered the same thing as before). She left then the waiter came back rudely grab the plate, and loudly say you will not be charge, he was making a scene. 1. Customer service was unprofessional 2. We are feeling discrimination 3. The name doesn't lie... But if I'm being honest, it barely reaches being an average restaurant. Came for lunch while visiting family last week. The space had a cool enough vibe - Lots of wood and metal, industrial farm if you will, with a nice looking bar to the left when you walk in. The staff was friendly enough and that concludes the list of positives and covers the two stars. The food was underwhelming at best - After all, the server told us that they were a 'scratch' kitchen so I was expecting something good to come out of there since not all the restaurants in the area boast about that. I ordered a 'Simply Grilled' sirloin steak with roasted brussel sprouts. What came out was not a steak, but actually a sad portion of 6 pieces of steak tips (which are also on the menu but a completely separate item). My roasted brussel sprouts were 80% undercooked and the ones that were fully cooked were flavorless. It has been a while since I have been this disappointed by a restaurant but I guess my winning streak couldn't last forever. Maybe the appetizers taste better after a few drinks at the bar, but if you're looking for a good place to eat, you might be better off considering something else. read more

I am not sure why this has 3 1/2 stars! The service was great! Christina took wonderful care of us, asked about food allergies and when given my list of many food allergies, she wrote them down, even went and checked with the chef on ingredients of the Clam Chowder with out being asked and then advised me not to order the chowder. The chef delivered my plate to the table, assuring me they had taken my allergies into account with preparation. The food was hot, wonderful and seasoned perfectly! I will definitely be back and recommend to my friends and colleagues. They have a separate menu, easy to determine gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, Keto, and paleo options. How have I not written a review for Not Your Average Joe's yet?? I knew I was a fan ever since having lunch at their Seekonk location about two years ago. And now, with a Warwick location, the deal has been sealed. My father and I both work in the same area (Warwick and East Greenwich, respectfully) and will get together for lunch once a month or so. Neither of us having a passion for Panera or the like, Not Your Average Joe's is a godsend. Perfect central location with great lunch options, even better prices, and usually really awesome service. After a few successful lunches, I have been back for some of their great weeknight specials on the way home from the office. On Mondays, their buck-a-shuck and $6 martinis can't be beat! I find that this "chain" does its best to be that only in consistency which I appreciate. read more

Dropped in here the other night, in lieu of food shopping. Visually pleasing to the eye, nice waitstaff. I wasn't especially ravenous, so I was allowed to order smaller meal, which was salmon. My daughter ordered meatloaf, which was so nicely presented. My kid is a foodie but said it was just okay. The lemonade was delicious. But the focaccia bread, with olive oil, red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese was addicting. I found the fish to taste frozen. You know, there are some foods that should not be eaten away from home. I absolutely love NYAJ, they are probably one of my favorite chain restaurants up there with Cheesecake Factory & Carrabba's. The Warwick venue is clean and modern, the menu is versatile and the service is always on point. You can order takeout and they tend to send many coupons for takeout and dining if you provide an email. Also, you can reserve a table in advance and they have outside seating as well. They give you delicious focaccia bread to start with a side of oil with garlic Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Note: the bread and dipping side is delicious, don't get too full! I usually start with the ahi tuna wontons, they are by far the best appetizer. Seared tuna sliced over fried wontons topped with a bit of ginger and a couple of sauces. It's pretty tasty and you can opt to get it with cucumbers instead of wontons if you are watching the waistline or gluten free. My favorite meal: the Rosemary scallops. The large sea scallops are skewered on Rosemary stems and perfectly seared served with a side of Israeli couscous mixed with great flavors. Although this is my go to, I've tried their burgers, pizzas, salads and other entrees such as steak tips and salmon and all are feat. Haven't yet been disappointed by this place and glad they have sprouted another location (Seekonk)...lets get one in Smithfield or Lincoln! read more

We had 2 mains, the Chicken enchiladas which were fantastic and a chicken with a butternut squash cannoli. Bother were really, really good. The cannoli was on someone else's plate but I did have a taste. It was one of those things that was so good, I am not sure I would have liked to have eaten the whole thing. I know that sounds a bit odd but I think it was because it as so rich with flavor that had I had too much, it would have been, well...too much. The service was pretty good. I did have to ask twice to get my beer. I would like to give the excuse that it was really busy, which it was, but I think still not really a good excuse. The only problem I had with the who deal was that there were two lines for tax at the bottom of the bill. I asked what that was for. The manager came over and told me it was the alcohol tax. I informed them that RI does not have a tax on alcohol any more. Stopped in Dec 2013. She told me I was obvious mistaken, politely. A couple taps on the smart phone, and boom, no state tax on alcohol. So makes me wonder what they are doing with all of that money. read more

I do enjoy supporting local businesses and want to love this local chain. I have much better things to say about the service at the Dartmouth location and the food at the Seekonk location. I do, however, like the industrial warehouse vibe of the Warwick location, and like the appearance of the "kitchen stage" at the rear of the restaurant. Cool to see the bread being cut, and the multitude of plaid clad servers scurrying about. It seems like there is always a wait. I expect it on a Friday or Saturday night but I imagined we could sneak in on a Sunday at 4pm. Not so. The wait was only 15-20 minutes. It goes to show you that this is a market that is in demand in the region. Hearty food, not as manufactured as a worldwide chain. Like I mentioned, I wasn't thrilled with the service. Just seemed to be a huge lag in the time between sitting, ordering drinks, delivering of drinks, ordering food, receiving food, wrapping leftovers, receiving check, and paying check. What's odd is that the server didn't even seem to walk past our table. Maybe his tables aren't in a zone but rather scattered about. It wasn't like there was an opportunity to even grab his attention as he passed nearby. On the topic of food - well, it was OK. Nothing to write home about. I have loved the same dishes at other locations but the food just didn't seem to come together in the same way in Warwick. I've had great chowder, great fish, great lobster rolls elsewhere - food that I rave about. No raving this time. The service is usually really good here but not this time. It took forever to get drinks and refills, so much so I had to ask another waiter to get my waitresses attention. Not sure why because the restaurant was mostly empty on an early Saturday afternoon. I ordered a skinny margarita not realizing it would be too sour, so I ordered the mule instead which I also didn't really care for. The waitress did take the margarita off the bill but she could have cared less if I liked the mule as she never asked. She also did not offer any extra bread and olive oil like they used too. The chicken parm was just ok, and the barbecue chicken tenders were good but they used to come in a larger portion size. Also I could have sworn my kids got free refills the last time I came, before COVID. The drinks can get expensive really quickly when they're filled with mostly ice. read more

I read the reviews and had to try it. I too have to add a comment on the bread & garlic oil; addicting! Have one piece if you can then push it away. The bread is very dense as one reviewer wrote, so you will ruin your meal if you eat the entire basket. I had one and a half pieces and asked my excellent bartender Kerry (seriously wonderful - I'm gushing!) to take it away, as I already ordered 2 half price apps, the Salmon Pate' and Ahi Tuna Wontons. 1. The pate' didn't work for me. The texture was that of canned tuna, not a pate' by any means, and the flavor was poor, lacking in everything. This needs to be dropped from the menu. 2. The ahi tuna was a nice surprise. It's served over home made nacho chips, cucumbers, or both. I tried both but now highly recommend the chips. They were flaky, airy and definitely home made. I'll ask for wasabi next time, as the plate was missing it. This is a must get when visiting Average Joe's. 3. I was also told by my hotel staff to try the mustard-crusted chicken. I was so stuffed I couldn't but a guest next to me ordered it, it looked fantastic. I asked and she stated it tasted fantastic and she highly recommended it. As for the restaurant. The design is modern, with a touch of art deco, and a heavy IKEA style of influence (that's a compliment here). They use the less is more package, which I enjoyed. Music was playing but wasn't blasting my ears off, making it enjoyable during my meal. Overall cleanliness, excellent. The place was very clean. Next time... There will be a next time, I'll ask Kerry not to provide bread and go right for the ahi tuna & mustard-crusted chicken. If the weather is warmer, I'll enjoy a beverage after dinner at their fire pit. read more

My husband and I dined at Not Your Average Joe's for the 3rd time tonight. I always try to give a new place a few chances before I write it off, especially one that has just recently opened. Unfortunately, after tonight I do not think I will be back at this restaurant...at least not for a meal (possibly at the bar for drinks). The first time we came here it was late afternoon after a movie at the nearby cinema. We sat right down, no wait. The interior of the restaurant is very cool. Love the ambiance/decor. Their bread/dipping sauce is to die for. Hard to believe something so simple can be so delicious! We had an appetizer and soups/salads. The veggie spring roll was crunchy instead of soft. Not very good. The tomato soup and french onion soup were good. Side salads were very good too, and reasonably priced. ($5 for a pretty big salad). We tried to come here 1 or 2 times after the first experience, but it was very crowded with a long wait. The next time we came for dinner on a Tuesday night, but the next day forecasted a snow storm. We got there right before the dinner rush. I ordered an apple cider type drink which was AWESOME! My husband ordered the bacon and egg appetizer, which he enjoyed. Dinner for me was a pistachio-crusted haddock on the "specials" menu. It sounded delicious on the menu, but was very bland,and not worth the price tag. My husband ordered the short ribs...same story. Sounded awesome, but didn't live up to the hype. Today we went back, giving it one last shot after a shopping trip at the mall. This time for just drinks and appetizers. Again, drinks lived up to the expectations, but the food did not. Bacon and egg appetizer, and the dumplings were both good (according to the husband), but the butternut squash flatbread was gross. It came out cold, and it was extremely greasy. Each time we came to Not Your Average Joe's the waitstaff was very nice, but not extremely attentive. Food took a long time to come out of the kitchen...especially on the occasions when the restaurant was not even crowded. Bottom line, we might come back to the bar for drinks (and maybe some of the delicious bread and dipping sauce), but for food, Not Your Average Joe's has struck out in our book. read more

We are here 29/3/18. Our sever was great. The food was good. I was in love with the Chipotle Sweet Potatoes were good. My salmon was cooked well. My cousin had the pan crushed haddock. On Wednesdays, my Husband & I have our "Lunch Date" since we both have the day off and our Kids are in School. We almost always find ourselves here. We actually feel guilty when we "cheat" on them occasionally (It's only occasionally, I promise)! We love the layout of the Restaurant, and the Seating is very comfortable. I always steal the side facing towards the Kitchen because I love to watch the action. They have someone checking the Plates before they're served so that everything is perfect. We have never (ever!) had a Server that was unfriendly or inattentive, and that is so rare to find in Restaurants. Management is also wonderful--they take the time to say Hello and ask how everything was. The fresh Bread and Dip are heavenly. We even ordered some to take home with us once. It's very addictive, so pace yourself (or not, I'm not the boss of you.) My Husband always orders a Soda, but I have my Weekly Cocktail. Be sure to try the many different types of Sangria, also "Berry Me in Bubbles" is wonderful. He is far more adventurous than I (He rolls his eyes when I order the same thing) and will try anything and everything on the menu (at least twice). I can recommend two things---1) The Meatloaf! You'll fall in love with it. 2) The Mustard Crusted Chicken, it's served with delicious Mashed Potatoes and the best fresh Green Beans. This was my first visit to this eatery. For a beverage I ordered a decaf hot coffee. When served, I could tell it was not a fresh cup of coffee nor was it hot. When approached by the waitress I requested a new " hot" cup as I was paying $3.29 for this drink. For my meal I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was listed as being served on a roll with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. The pork was dry, not very tasty and the amount of coleslaw on top averaged a tablespoon. The sweet potato fries , although served tastefully in a cone shaped container were not " hot" temperature wise, were extremely thin and stale. This sandwich plate was $13. When asked by the waitress how my meal was , I replied " ok". She asked " only ok"?, I replied " yes". She said, I'm sorry. I called on a Friday, and told them I was 10 minutes away could I reserve a booth. I was told I may have a ten minute wait. We arrived, and was seated immediately. Our server Joanna was great. From drinks to paying bill she made our experience at Joe's great. Food was very good. One thing I don't quite get - one of us got a side of plain pasta. When I say side I mean very small bowl. To charge 7 dollars is outrageous. Also a side salad to be over 7 dollars is also high. I have eaten at other Joe's, and when you order a side salad with an entree it's usually cheaper, and the salad is bigger. I would give this 5 stars, but just can't with the price I paid for two small items to be over 14 dollars. read more

While this is a chain restaurant, their food is definitely above average. As you chow down, it is obvious that the food is cooked fresh in the kitchen. You can actually see into the kitchen from the restaurant, which is always nice as a patron. I love seeing them bake the bread... Mainly because it's so good! Entree-wise, I'm a big fan of the mustard-crusted chicken. It's never dry and always tasty. They have a patio for the warmer months and a nice, big bar area. Decorated nicely and always clean, NYAJ is also in a great location. Unfortunately, service can be slow when they get busy - which seems to be often since they're right by the mall. I'm a fan of the company in general, having been to one in Central Mass and the one in Seekonk on a number of occasions. This one still has some kinks to work out, but hey, kids, they just opened. It's okay. Service from our waiter was lackluster, and while my food was good, my mom's was pretty icky--fatty and grisly. We let them know (something we don't normally do, but the meal was gross) and they immediately took it off the bill and comped us a dessert. Couldn't ask for more. The bread they bring out with the cheese olive oil spread is top notch- it's Romano and parm cheese with red pepper flakes, garlic and olive oil. I had the grilled chicken kabobs in a cider glaze atop spaghetti squash and Farro salad with raisins. The chicken was well cooked and very tasty with the cider marinade. The spaghetti squash wasn't too watery and was tasty. I had a side of marinara which was the perfect addition.
