***Unable to leave zero stars. I had a one time need to get a money order after hours and the post…read moreoffice was closed. I went to Amscot, that transaction was fine, no questions asked, I paid $100 cash and got a money order. The problem was that I no longer needed the money order and I went back to cash it. They now required me to open an account, give my social security number and even employer info, I'm never gonna use them again, and didn't want to give them any info. They are also not discrete, the two times I've been in there, they ask for social security numbers out loud. At any rate, with no other option given than opening an account, they agreed to cash it but said that there would be a fee. Oh, they also requested my ID but that wasn't good enough. Their system can verify that the money order was never cashed but that to wasn't good enough. After Amscot cashed the $100 money order, they collected $3.00 transaction fee AND $18.00 money order service charge. From the $100 I used to buy the money order, I got back $78.50!!!! For transparency, I had the money order for nearly a year but either way it was their own check. I've had similar situations with the post office and they did not charge those outrageous fees. Needless to say-I'm never going in there again. Just writing the review for those folks who go there to cash checks and do other things, go to a CREDIT UNION, it's way cheaper and less hassle!!!

You are better off taking a drive to a real shipping store. You will always get a how may I help you. As I decided to no longer ship with them, she proceeded to want to argue as I left the store.
