I am still waiting to stumble upon my dream wooden, cheap as chips, dining table and until I do I'll keep popping into Betel. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about the pieces they stock. Most of the furniture (tables, sideboards, chairs, dressers, wardrobes) is wooden and of a very high standard. This is because the Betel team are constantly sourcing, repairing and renovating some a large stock of furniture. This shop is rammed with good stuff, some of it even spilling out around the front and back of the store. Delivery is available which is very handy but not expensive.

As part of their assistance to such people Betel provides skills and jobs to those they help, and in particular furniture restoration. A lot of the stock in the shop will have been cleaned up, re-polished, renovated and fixed up by Betel staff and the love and care is evident in the quality of the merchandise. This is a charity shop, albeit one with slightly more up-market stock than most, so their stock is constantly changing - you may visit once and find there is nothing to your liking, but that shouldn't discourage you from making the odd repeat visit. We got an absolutely beautiful, solid oak coffee table from this store a couple of years ago. We were really happy with it and it's still going strong today. They will deliver anything you buy for a small charge and there is often room for negotiation on price. Well worth a visit!

If you're a regular customer or are making a huge purchase it's worth asking if there are any deals to be done. If you fancy a drink or something to eat after browsing then head to the top floor to Two Jays' Restaurant. They offer both hot and cold dishes which are produced daily, fresh from the kitchen. Most other shops in Solihull who sell similar things are very costly so I was pleased to find Walnut and Weave is better priced. This was even better as they had a sale on for some items. Even though I didn't buy anything the staff were very friendly and even thanked me as I left without buying anything. This is definitely a shop for the ladies.

My favourite piece was the double bed with two head boards because it was simple but original. Temptation would have taken over if I had enough room for the double bed. Being the only customer in the store, I tried to make conversation with the staff by asking where they got the furniture from, what materials were used on my favourite item, how long have been around. I know I shouldn't have but I felt rude asking these questions as they didn't seem to care! They were too wrapped up in their paper work that one of them didn't even look up. "Hello I AM HERE" I thought. Even a little interaction would have persuaded me to come here again. Despite their beautiful furniture, their rubbish customer service put me off that much that I would only come here again as a last resort.

This is a nice store to pick up an usual gift as they stock a big variety of products. This is a spacious store you could easily spend a few hours in. Melbicks have got plants, shrubs and trees galore and we spent ages looking at their stock. They also stock a broad selection of outdoor garden furniture. Huge car park, friendly and helpful staff. Nice cafe to grab a drink or bite to eat during your visit.

Pine furniture is getting bigger and bigger, and with the influx of cheaper pine goods (both in build quality and price) from abroad, the market became oversupplied and we were are seeing the same type furniture on every high street. Wharton's of Shirley have recognised this and as a result have moved away from just pine and use a wider array of materials. This reflects the quality of their furniture.
