A beautiful cathedral that has been renovated since the fire. Although the outside is still being worked on, you can enter the inside. It is free, but that's if you want to get into the long weaving line to walk through inside. Just standing outside and hearing the bells was enough for me.
THE GOOD ---------------- + Beautiful and historical architecture inside and out! Stained glass, sculptures, art, you name it. + Free to go inside. Who doesn't like that? THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Yes, it will get crowded inside, but, if you're an avid traveler you shouldn't expect anything different. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------- = Probably takes about 40-60 minutes to observe and just leisurely walk around the entire church - as long as you don't inspect every single statue and piece of artwork. = Buy a ticket ahead of time online! You can skip the longggg line and go right in!
Notre Dame Cathedral - Paris We had such a great time visiting Notre Dame. Entrance is free, and I definitely recommend having a reservation so you don't end up waiting in two separate lines for tickets and entry. We actually showed up about an hour late for our time slot and were worried they wouldn't let us in, but the staff checked our tickets and waved us through with no problem. Inside, it is crowded (no surprise), but the cathedral is absolutely beautiful. They were holding a mass while we were there, which made the whole place feel even more special. The stained glass, paintings, and sculptures are stunning and totally worth taking your time to look at. Overall, an amazing experience and a must‑see when you're in Paris.
I came here back in 2015 before the infamous church fire so I wanted to visit again while I was in Paris. I'm not sure if it was because it was Sunday or lingering holiday crowds but there was a long queue winding up and down in front of the building. (This was the "no reservation" line I believe). Very crowded for sure. You pretty much shuffle your way from the left side to the back and up the other side and leave. The crowds made it hard for me to enjoy. No fee for entry into the church but I think there's one if you want to go to the upper levels. Also gifting area with items for purchase by the exit.
It had been nearly 20 years since my last visit. The restoration after the fire is phenomenal. You can reserve tickets online 1-2 days ahead, not more. They are free. But I discovered on a Monday at 8am there's no line at all. I walked right in and almost had the place to myself. Even before the fire, centuries of soot and pollution had darkened the walls, art and glass. The restoration is stunning. Almost white stone everywhere. Bright stained glass windows. Artwork whose colors now pop. I leisurely took an hour to wander in and out of all the alcoves and enjoy all the pieces. I was even treated to a brief hymn from the nuns finishing morning mass. There are some great YouTube documentaries on the restoration. One really dives into several specific pieces that you will see, and how many artisans works all those years to repair and recreate pieces to make this cathedral even more beautiful than before.

The repairs since the fire are nearly complete, perhaps another year or two. Scaffolding is still in place along the sides, but the anterior is pristine and folks can go inside. The line to enter was too long, hundreds of people filing along, so we just walked around the outside, took a walk along the Seine to view the cathedral from all sides.

Entrance is free, however they have a ticketing system online that opens up a few days prior at midnight so we were unable to book it ahead of time, unlike other attractions. We were already traveling and when we attempted to get the tickets, they were already sold out. Be vigilant. We still wanted to see the Notre Dame in person so we still came by during our visit. We took the M1 to Hotel de Ville and walked about 10 minutes over. The French gothic architecture is stunning. The intricacies of the exterior wall was a true piece of craft. I think you can still wait for the free entrance but the line was incredibly long. There were also folks sitting around at the nearby public area eating lunch and enjoying the view.
This was a surprise visit, because it is open again for visitors after the fire. 4-5 years 900 million euros. 250 companies for every imaginable repair and they are still at it. It now includes a fire suppression system , only one in a Cathedral anywhere, that will probably never be used. If it could be restored or polished , it was. Huge line, hundreds , like a giant snake , many cheaters turned away , but it went smoothly and was a couple thousand people in and out. When we came out, it was just as long.
It's beautiful and so happy for it to be reopened! While there continues to have constructions surrounding the Notre Dame cathedral, the front entrance has been fully restored. It's such a magnificent landmark... and people around the world come to see it. I'm not religious but still enjoyed the beauty. Go early. The line gets insane after 10:30am... and gets super crowded.
For someone who is not a Christian I love going to old churches. And what better than the Grande Dame ( sorry Duomo) There is something magical every time I visit Notre Dame I was heartbroken when she was ravaged by a fire caused by human error A praise the Lord the Cathedral is now open..... better YET..... the roof tour is open again!!!!! If you do one thing Take the roof tour!!!!! The ancient Gargoyles, Chimera, the views are all stunning....Pure Magic
A must-see place to visit is the Notre Dame and now it is open! When I went here a few years ago they were still not open because of the fire. Now they are still repairing it but you can go inside. The line to get in was quite long about a 30-minute wait in the hot sun, during the summer time. But it was well worth it! We all enjoyed it and the remodeling that must have been done looks great! Oh yeah and this place is also free you don't need any tickets to come in! You just need to wait in line and taking photos is allowed.
This reminded me of something out of Beauty & the Beast- the chandeliers, the beautiful stained glass windows, and the gargoyles. They were still doing some exterior work when we came, but I couldn't even tell a difference between what was new and what had been damaged in the fire. A must see in Paris! 2025 #66
1 of 2 Yelp reviews. Quality/Quantity - Another must visit. Amazingly long line, but it moved fast. I was impressed by how fast it moved. Once you get into the "ropes," it was organized. But prior to getting in the roped line, it was a free for all trying to get into the line. Someone should be standing there instructing. Anyway, another beautiful church. Sorry about your 2019 fire, but the remodel is coming along well. I think the inside is pretty much done. Ambiance - Again, I am sure my pictures did not do this place justice. Sightseeing in Paris, France... Notre Dame de la Paix in French is Our Lady of Peace... It's a famous Cathedral with many stained glass windows, statues, and artwork such as murals and paintings. We parked our rental car a few blocks away. There was a line to get in. It zigzagged like a line for a Disneyland ride! We didn't have tickets, but we didn't need any. The line moved relatively quickly. Inside, mass was being celebrated. It felt disrespectful to walk around the perimeter while mass was going on, but we just made our way through as quietly as we could. It was really overwhelming and quite crowded. I'm glad that we visited this piece of history! read more
One of the most famous Catholic Churches in the world, Notre Dame is a popular tourist attraction. After the fire of several years ago, it has been rebuilt and is still being worked on. Normally to visit you should go online beginning 3 days before your visit to get a free timed pass but during my visit earlier a few days ago that had been temporarily suspended. It didn't matter because the walk up line moved very quickly and I was inside in less than 10 minutes. The self guided tour moves around the entire interior with the only requirement of silence. The stained glass is beautiful and there are many statues and paintings being shown. Once inside it takes about 30 minutes to make it around. You can take longer as you are not rushed. There is also a gift shop inside at the rear of the Church. Mass goers are allowed to skip the line to attend services when they are held. There is a separate entrance for them as this is a working church with its own congregation. I believe Mass is performed 3 times daily with a separate schedule on Sundays. Also of a historical note, the island that the church is on is where Paris originally began many centuries ago. A Metro stop is on the island about 100 yards from the Church. read more

since the fire in 2019, it has reopened in 2024, but you do need reservations to get in to tour the cathedral. The doors on the outside of the cathedral are over 1200 years old. It's just remarkable it's a must to see if you're coming to Paris. read more

Notre Dame is a must visit when you're in Paris. The line was very long, but it moved very quickly. There were lots of people inside but plenty of places to sit no issues viewing all the views highly recommend. read more

Notre-Dame reopened its doors in 2024, just five years after a 2019 fire, and little has changed since the 12th century. Famed for its gothic architecture the exterior remains more impressive than inside, but accessed at no charge from the queue it is still worth a half hour to explore. read more
Very nice cathedral. We came here as my wife wanted to see the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. And she was not disappointed. However, remember it's being fixed since the fire of 2019. The inside is very pretty with all the marble and stained glass. A lot of religious artifacts and statues. read more

Notre Dame de la Paix is French meaning Our Lady of Peace. This cathedral is among the oldest in the world, when construction began during Louis VII, the year was 1163. Since the 2019 fire and over $900 million in renovations, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris reopened on December 2024. Despite my frequent trips to Paris and visits the Notre Dame seemed to always be closed until this time, was my first time inside and it was all magnificent. The famous stained glass 'rose windows' designed/shaped like rose petals, the gargoyles outside, the arched ceilings, the glorious musical from the grand organ, the scent of aromatic burning candles, the choir singing in the background ...All was very emotionally moving and a healing experience. Am blessed and grateful for the incredible invitation and to experience the reopening of this magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, it was an event attended by over 170 bishops, many notable persons worldwide, and more importantly, many visitors of All different faiths are all cordially welcome... by Our Lady of Peace; Cathedral Notre Dame de La Paix. Breathtaking! I have no other words that adequately depict the beauty of Notre Dame. We were devastated about the fire and whether full restoration was possible. If there was any evidence of the fire, I certainly couldn't tell. Tons of construction going on around the cathedral within a couple of blocks. We showed up with no tickets,so immediately got in a seemingly endless line. I was astounded that we were only in line for about 20 minutes. Before I knew it I was walking into Notre Dame. First time there and would go back 100 times again. Visiting in person vastly exceeded all my expectations. read more
Definitely worth a visit. Ticket reservation can be found on their website. They release tickets a couple days in advance. From my experience, they got swooped up very quickly and I reserved at midnight their time. When I got there, there was quite a long line for admissions without a ticket. For those with time slot tickets, it was basically a walk in. read more

Unbelievable! Reopened in December after an almost 5 year reconstruction after a massive fire Notre Dame is a true gem. We tried to reserve tickets using the app to no avail so we went early in the morning to be the first in line and the wait was not too long. We were fortunate to have a mass being said while we were there so we got to listen to beautiful music as we walked around the cathedral. As you face the Cathedral from outside, go along the left exterior side there's a huge display on scaffolding about the whole restoration process. It was a fascinating read with tons of information. read more

Notre Dame al la Paix is a well known "go to" must see when visiting Paris. Especially, since not too long ago a fire that hit the very old church damaged it significantly. Millions of dollars and countless donations from all over the world later, the church has been slowly restored. Its been on my bucket list for ages, and Im glad we visited on Sunday for Mass no less! How special is that! Entering with ADA permission and letter in hand was a breeze. Inside Mass was in session and a packed house! The pictures speak for themselves. A must visit for me! 10/10 read more

Five and a half years ago, Notre-Dame was set ablaze. This December 7, 2024, it was officially inaugurated after arduous months of work and reconstruction by a remarkable team of artisans. It was a titanic project which took place in the heart of Paris, and above all which managed to meet the deadlines. Today I went to the mess to celebrate the Three Kings Day, also known as Epiphany, is more than just a celebration akin to Christmas. In fact, for people all over the world, it signifies the culmination of the entire Christmas season. Three Kings Day commemorates the visit of the three wise men--the Magi--to Jesus on January 6. As the story recounts, the Magi followed a new star that led them to the Christ child in Bethlehem. At its core, this holiday is about faith, hope, and generosity. Bravo Paris for such an impressive service and such a beautiful mess! read more
Notre Dame is one of the most iconic spots in Paris. While it is still being rebuilt there is much to see and enjoy. We did not have tickets and were worried about entrance near the end of the day. We shouldn't have worried they moved the very, very, very long line quickly and we were inside in 15 minutes. Be aware you CANNOT come inside if you have spaghetti straps - you must have your shoulders covered as it's a church. I would highly recommend to come inside to listen to the masses and music while looking at the gorgeous windows, paintings, and sculptures. read more

Wow!! What an incredible, iconic landmark to visit. The website for free entry reservations opens about 2 days before, and "sells out" very quickly. We unfortunately didn't have a reservation so we had to wait in line for about 45 mins prior to entry. Crowd control was nonexistent, the line wrapped around the block and people kept cutting which made it move very slowly. Once inside, it was worth the wait- the history and architecture were incredible. A must-see landmark for all visiting Paris! read more

Beautiful visit and location. Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance. The likes can be long but at your ticketed time it will be much smoother. read more
