We arrived at the hotel by 10AM after a 30 minute bus ride from the Berlin-Tegel Airport. We weren't able to check in until 4PM but we securely stored our luggage in one of the hotel rooms. I think Hotel Ibis has a few locations in Berlin. The decor is pretty modern and European. The front desk attendants were helpful and do speak English in case you're traveling from the States. There are two computers for using the internet. They do have free WIFI, but it's very slow and you have to constantly log back on. They originally gave us a single room, but after asking to switch, we were giving a triple room with handicap accessibility. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet for the most part. Our room didn't have much of a view, but we were only in our rooms to shower, relax, and sleep. The bed was SO COMFY. Though it's a twin size, I slept very well and wanted to take home the pillow. There wasn't air conditioning, but you wouldn't really need that until the summer. The shower had plentiful hot water and the bathroom was clean. There's also a small flat panel tv to watch German programs. They do have other European channels, but none from the US. It was cool to watch The Simpsons in German! The continental breakfast was included with our stay and is served from 6:30-10:30AM (I think) They have bread, eggs, cereal, sliced cold cuts, some fruit, nutella (!), pastries, yogurt, and an awesome espresso/coffee/hot chocolate machine. It was pretty delicious. The hotel has a good location. It's within walking distance to The East Side Gallery where you can see the artwork on the Berlin Wall. You can also walk to the Galería mall (they have some department stores), there's a small market where they sell fruit, food, and some handicrafts on the weekends. Most importantly, the Ostbahnhof train station is so close. The train station has lots of stores in case you need to buy something to eat or you forgot something in the States. The stores were open until 8PM which is convenient of course. The Hotel Ibis Berlin City Ost is a great central location when visiting Berlin and you will enjoy yourself in Germany's capital.

They do lack a kettle to make your own cup of tea (is it just us Brits??). But the bar/cafe is open 24/7 and the staff very friendly. So location, age of hotel all make this low budget (it's not that low) a good deal at busy periods or when I want to explore the East of Berlin. Good view of TV tower too. Very simple furnished rooms with clean wooden floors - no dirty carpet. And surprisingly comfy bed with bright white clean sheets. Bathroom small but what do you expect. It's cool. It's East Berlin. Restaurant Recommendation: Check out Cunô (Japanese/Vietnamese) restaurant @ U Schlesisches Tor ...or from hotel 20 min walk (scarey if dark) or by bus 7 min ... go.. over the bridge (turn left out of hotel). At end of bridge u want the road going left Bus stop for Bus 165 Bethaniendann (bus towards Köpenick, Müggelsschlößenweg). It's worth it and great cocktails And a lively little district with bars and music and stuff.

Only complaint was that there was no decaf coffee, and it gets pretty crowded if you don't go early. But tons of options - muesli of various kinds, many kinds of pastries, bread, plus there's fruit, all kinds of sliced meat, and there are mini pancakes, hard boiled eggs, etc. almost anything you can think of for a German breakfast. Accommodations - 4 stars. Quiet room, comfortable bed, temperature control. The shower is small, and the towels weren't great, but overall it was fine. Clean, they give you a kettle and some tea bags (and powdered coffee if you drink it). There's an Apotheke and a small grocery store about a block away. Close to the subway and several bus lines.

We booked this hotel for a one-night stay in Berlin. We'd expected the typically friendly Novotel…read moreservice but were surprised by the newness of the building (evidently it'd been renovated) and the spaciousness of our standard room with modern bath and two chairs - too often doubles only have one chair. The floor-to-ceiling windows were nice, even if the view of the office building on the other side of the street wasn't so special. A neat touch was the semi-hidden space to hang up our clothes, so much more practical than big closets (see photo). Wifi was fine both in the room and in the lobby and of course free (hotels seemed now to have learned not to charge for wifi). Since we're no fans of buffets and since our very reasonable rates didn't include breakfast, we didn't have the chance to eat in the friendly lobby/breakfast room/bar combination area. As others have mentioned, this Novotel is centrally located not far from two of the main plazas: Potsdamer and Alexander. What we realized later was that the address, Fischerinsel, is exactly accurate: the hotel is really on an island as we can testify having walked over bridges in both directions. And without crossing any bridges you can visit northern part of the island, which appropriately enough is called Museuminsel and has UNESCO World Heritage status.

For the most part, it's a mod, well-designed hotel. The staff is friendly and competent. The "Superior" rooms have a complicated lighting system that will keep you entertained for hours at night. I just spent an hour and a half in the lobby walking someone back home (the US) through what i needed done on the internet...utterly frustrated. Also, it is not a good place to stay for tourists, very much out of the way. Not a bad experience if you don't have anything important to do, but if you need internet and convenience I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

When we arrived we were a few hours early and feared we wouldn't be able to check in yet but the member of staff behind the reception desk was so helpful and lovely. He checked us into a room without any problems. The foyer is modern and clean so we got great first impressions. There's tourist information, maps and all you'd expect to find at a hotel. The snacks and drinks are extremely pricey though, as is breakfast if you haven't already got it included in your booking. The room was nice, not amazing, but it did us just fine. There was a few holes in the net curtains and the room wasn't as modern as I'd expected but everything was clean. The room came with amenities such as a fridge, shampoo, shower gel, tea and coffee tray and free WiFi. The WiFi was pretty slow and frustrating though. Every day the maids would clean and tidy the room and I got such great sleep in the bed during my stay as it was very comfortable. The location is just outside of the central locations I'd say but we didn't mind a 10 minute walk into town. Potsdamer Platz is literally a 10 minute walk away and there you will find some shops and restaurants. There's an underground station right at the end of the road where the hotel is, like 2 minutes walk, where you can get to the zoo and Olympic Stadium on the same line. So handy! Would definitely come back here if I visit Berlin again and I would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

It's a bit of a stretch calling this hotel Ibis Mitte…read more Technically, it might be in the district of Mitte, but for all intents and purposes, it's in Prenzlauer Berg. It's much closer to Schönhauser Allee than it is to Friedrichstrasse. There is nothing special about this hotel. It's an Ibis, what more can I say? It's like trying to review different branches of McDonalds. The location is not very nice down at the beginning of Prenzlauer Allee, a street which gets steadily grimier as you progress north. If you get hungry, there are very few options close by. There are a couple kebab shops and a chinese imbiss up the road, but if you want anything fancier you'll have to walk up further into Prenzlauer Berg or towards Alexanderplatz. However, there is a petrol station next door, which is convenient for drinks and snacks. As for the staff, I found them to be pretty cold and unfriendly. But I can't be too harsh on them. If I was working behind the desk at an Ibis I wouldn't be a very happy camper either. Ultimately, Ibis does what it says on the tin. It gives you a modest room for a modest price.

A nice hotel in the center of Berlin…read more The service is friendly and courteous. The rooms are large and relatively modern. Many of the rooms have a balcony. A business center, several conference rooms and wifi access offes a good working environment. The breakfast was in good. Additionally there is a bar with a seperate smoking room (!) and a restaurant which only serves products from organic farming.
