This was the hotel that our travel agent Jordan Travels and host travel agency, Trafalgar, hosted us in. We had a bad first experience, but a good experience overall.
On arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff. The lobby was pretty and had a bar straight ahead in the back. Our Trafalgar host checked in our group. My husband and I got our keys and to our dismay, entered a room with two double beds. We went back to the reception desk and requested a king bed room, which the receptionist granted us after realizing that we were a couple (yes, I still have my maiden name because of my passport). However, after we lugged our stuff from the first room to the king bed room on another floor, we found that our keys did not work. I was left stranded with our luggage as my husband had to go back downstairs to get the keys fixed AGAIN. After that hurdle, it was smooth sailing from there.
Our king bed room, although rather small room, met our needs.
It was equipped with:
- a coffee maker (a plus for us coffee drinkers!)
- a mini bar and mini fridge (negative because we couldn't keep any of our drinks or food in it because the fridge was filled with drinks that you had to buy to consume)
- an exterior closet with a safe (odd that a closet wasn't built in, but it held our stuff)
- a flat screen TV in front of the bed (a little too close for comfort)
- a desk that has a part that can separate and swing around so you can enjoy a nice view of the city
- a large window that opens to the inside
- a iPod player that's supposed to play AND charge your iPod/iPhone (negative because it didn't even play or charge my phone)
The bathroom had a tub/shower combo that had a glass wall as a shower screen that covered only 1/3 of the shower area... MEANING.... water splashed onto the bathroom floor if you took a shower.
Our group stay included a buffet breakfast every morning. The buffet is actually located on level "-2". You check in and are seated by a hostess. The buffet had a nice selection of french food like a variety of bread, pastries, deli meats and cheeses, potatoes, eggs to boil, scrambled eggs (looked questionable), sausages, cereal, and my favorites:
- croissants (plain and chocolate-filled)
- crepes (make-your-own)
- REAL Nutella
- one-touch coffee machine that can make you a coffee, cappuccino, espresso, or hot chocolate
The hotel itself is located across from a police station, I think. It's in a nice area of town and within walking distance to several places, including metro stations, cafes, bars, and a shopping district (not the famous one).
The staff were ALWAYS warm and helpful. We had no problem interacting with them. They even mailed our postcards for us!
Overall, we had a good experience. read more
