    Hand roll

Noz Market is a omakase sushi restaurant in NYC featuring some of the best sushi you can find. They have a happy hour experience where they do hand rolls for $10. It is in a corner of the restaurant where it's a small and intimate experience with 2-3 other parties. A small menu featuring about a half of dozen hand rolls you can enjoy. All of the rolls were delicious featuring some of the best fish and ingredients you can find. An overall great and affordable experience in NYC.

Must try: Chef's Selection using Chase Reserve Restaurant Credit! Why: I've gone to their Temaki Bar for happy hour and loved loved loved their hand rolls. Chase Reserve credit card has $150 dining credit so I wanted to come back for their Chef's Selection ($155). Fresh premium fish prepared and served with care. Our selection includes various fish, shrimp, scallop, and uni. Even the miso soup that came after the nigiri tasted premium. Selection ended with a toro hand roll, which is one of my favs. The dessert I believe was a matcha chocolate cake, which was light and just ok for me. Everything else was melt in your mouth delightful! I accompanied the sushi with a refreshing Asahi beer. I also ordered two more temaki hand roll (crab and rocking shrimp). Yum! Notes: Hostess, waiters, and chefs all provided an exceptional fine dining experience. The sushi bar was clean and surprisingly spacious between each seat. The bathroom was spotless clean and had a fancy Japanese bidet toilet. Don't forget to try their temaki bar happy hour for $10 hand rolls! Overall, I had a fantastic experience.

Decided to splurge on delivery for NYE 2025-- Both omakase boxes and sabazushi were very high quality as expected fish to rice ratio were spot on However the showstopper was the takoyaki! Lightly fried octopus that stayed crispy for an hour ride home on the train (super impressive) delicious and not greasy at all. Honestly 5 stars and the only star deducted is because it is $$$ --yes for a special occasion of course!

I would have gone with 3 stars as they are just about par in terms of food (and even that comes from an uneven experience) but sitting next to someone that had the same menu 30 minutes later with a different sushi chef just left a bad taste in my mouth, metaphorically. 5:30pm on a Saturday, booked the chef's menu at the counter for 1. Seated with 5 other patrons at the counter that had ordered the regular omakase as our courses were different right from the start. Won't speak about every course but I'll note the pluses and minuses. Pluses first. Marinated tuna with Japanese chives with an egg yolk sauce was a good opened. I liked the horse mackerel and Japanese mackerel bites, rich with fish oil, but I have to question having 2 mackerel pieces in a 10 nigiri course. Hokkaido uni was nice, somehow both creamy and light. I liked that they had an anchovy handroll so I had to get it but it wasn't memorable. The dessert was a match layer cake with red bean and chestnut and possibly white truffle shaved on top that didn't make sense, but it gets the classic Asian praise for dessert: not too sweet. The shrimp stock miso soup was rich and delicious, small enough portion to not overwhelm you. Definitely left me wanting more. Minuses. Both the chutoro and otoro were watery. I encountered this before at a sushi place in Jackson, WY but it's unacceptable here. I laughed out loud the same way I did then, and not in a good way. The otoro was also sinewy as they had cut through the fascia. They're also a little heavy handed with the wasabi by default but they did ask people if wasabi was ok, and they did respond to requests to cut back. If it was just that, then I was ready to go with 3 stars. But I had the opportunity to observe the chef's course being handed by a different sushi chef next to me. I noticed then that my squid wasn't sauced and one of mackerel bite was missing a garnish (looked like scallion). Not a major deal but the inconsistency was disappointing and made me question what I got. Service is friendly. Fancy bathroom with a bidet but there's one for the entire restaurant. It's in the back by the kitchen that was unfortunately fishy, but fortunately they kept that away from the dining counter. There's also noticeable wear and tear on the bathroom door and walls, and also with the painted spoon used for dessert. Again, I was going to go with 3 stars but once the bill came I was reminded of the price point they're playing at and the missteps are unacceptable. Without the Noz name attached, this spot wouldn't be competing. The worst thing about it all is this gives me no confidence to try the full fat Sushi Noz around the corner. Uneven at best.

A friend and I popped in for lunch at the standing bar on a weekday and it did not disappoint! We ordered a set and the miso soup. The miso soup was very rich and the perfect little starter. The hand rolls were all great, but I think my favorite of the set was probably the shiso. The counter is tiny and the chef is very speedy/efficient. There was no wait when we walked in but by the end of our meal, a few people were waiting for spots. It felt a little rushed but understandably so. There is also only one bathroom in the back, so it ended up taking me quite a while to just wash my hands.

The fish was fresh, and everything was pretty good quality. The menu was simple and focused on the fish, rice, and soy sauce. The classic omakase was quite small. I usually can't finish a full menu, but we were still very hungry after this. You will need 2-3 add ons per person.

This is Noz's $68 omakase box -- 8 pieces of nigiri, a toro roll, and tamago. Add a $6 ponzu bottle (they don't include sauce), tip, and delivery, and you're looking at $95. Pricey? Yeah. Worth it? Absolutely. Nigiri was top-tier -- warm, well-seasoned rice, great variety. You get chutoro and otoro, but that seared flounder fin? Unreal. Hamachi hit hard too. This is Gari/Seki-level quality. You're paying a premium, but it delivers. Give me 10 pieces and a side of ponzu that doesn't need a screw cap, and we're flirting with best-in-city territory. I'd wanted to go to this place for a while and happened to stumble on it while running some errands. The space is very small, just enough for about six people at a time, and the counter is standing style. The chef was very kind to adjust each roll to my allergies, and I ordered the three roll set and added a toro roll. The fish quality was good, but I wasn't blown away by anything. The tuna was hard to eat because it was such large chunks, and the plum shiso had an incredibly salty sauce that made it hard to finish. The salmon pate and the toro roll were probably my favorites. If you're looking for a quick bite you could check this place out, but for a better experience you might have to end up spending more money or doing a la carte since I didn't love the three roll set.

Noz Market offers walk in 8 piece omakase for $45 including one chutoro only Monday through Thursday lunch time. It is big bang for the buck although sushi chef cut thinner slices of fish. The raw fish is the same source as next door-Sushi Noz which is 2 Michelin star restaurant 2026. Every piece of fish is top-tired imported from Japan except for salmon. What can you ask more for? Ambiance is casual and service is fine. We ordered extra after omakase. Bara chirashi is crazily filled with raw fish and egg for $33. My kids finished the whole bowl in 5 minutes. If I lived nearby, I'd go for lunch everyday. Just walk in, you don't need reservation for the $45 omakase at counter. Our sushi chef Eli is fun to talk with and watch his beautiful cutting skills. After 8 piece lunch, if you feel you still have room for more sushi, move to the front area to continue $10 hand rolls happy hours 2-5pm.

Solid omakase/sushi spot, especially on UES neighborhood. Love the decor, very relaxing and the servers are attentive while being acutely aware of frequency. The fishes are always fresh. Definitely a good spot to return for solid experience

Overall recommend! We went in on a rainy Saturday afternoon around 3pm and got seated in half an hour. The ambiance inside is peaceful and clean, the standing table is a fun experience to watch our Japanese sushi chef (I think they're called itamae) prepare each item meticulously, and the paper lamps and details are beautiful. It helps you slow down and enjoy the art of dining. We got the set of6, and felt full. The miso soup was a bit small and didn't have a lot of stuff inside, and the tamago was a rectangle. Staff were very polite and professional. I think overall it was a good experience!

I was absolutely pumped about this reservation. Decided to spend the weekend making my rounds on a food tour and this was the final stop, Sunday night dinner. I love all food. If it tastes good, I'm eating and as the brother restaurant to Sushi Noz I had heard the most amazing things. For the price point and the quality, it could not be beat. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's beautiful and clean. I arrived before my reservation and was greeted by the lovely staff. They were all great. The vibe is cool. Having been to Japan it felt familiar but upscale and I really dug it. However before sitting down the first thing on my mind was that it smelt fishy. I've been to omakase places for half the price and twice as much and never been met with such a strong odor before but I was still excited about the meal. When we sat down, most of the fish had been cut already or was being cut. For omakase it is important to not only appreciate the quality of fish, but the skills of the chef and the atmosphere around. Almost all the fish had been cut before guests had been served their first dish. The meal started with very underwhelming cuts of fish. I believe the first was snapper, very underwhelming, fishy, really set the mood. Then came the squid wish was slimy and rubbery followed by a number of incredibly unimpressive cuts of fish. I was frustrated by the menu choices for the night. A bunch of off cuts were offered, no salmon, then to finish back to back to back cuts of tuna which were offered with no relief to their fattiness. If you're going to judge a pizzeria by their cheese slice then you judge an omakase menu based on the quality of their otoro and boy was it sad. The mid fatty fish was tasty and average to below average at best, but the otoro was served seared and totally ruined the taste and the quality of the fish. I was super, super disappointed by the menu. I will not recommend this place nor will I try Sushi Noz after this experience. I will re emphasize the staff was amazing and the service was great, however if you are going for the fish go somewhere else. Anywhere else. The quality of omakase sucked and literally ruined my entire weekend having dined at some finer places the entire weekend. I will not go back, bring anyone here or try and of their sister restaurants.

Enjoyed the chefs omakase (155), probably one of the best in that price range. The normal cheaper omakase didn't seem that impressive and I saw they were all adding more items a la carte after, but the al la carte menu didn't have our favorites like sweet shrimp

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.
