I chose fades because they had a sandwich board outside that showed a bunch of designs, including one of a woman. I walked in and it was full, but they seated me and I waited a few minutes. I showed my barber a picture of what I was going for and he set to work, and did a really cool design. It took about 5-7 minutes and cost 10$. When I left, they encouraged me to come back for a regular cut because I had short hair and my style was something they could maintain. So I came back yesterday in need of a clean up. I was seated right away, explained I wanted the sides and back cleaned up and my barber set right to work. I was done in about 20 minutes and it cost 20$. He did a little bit of an undercut which looks cool. The only thing I didn't like was that he sprayed this horrible smelling styling spray (not hair spray) after. I couldn't shake it for 24 hours. I love the casual friendly vibe of fades and the prices can't be beat!

There is one other shop on Elgin Street that will cut for this price, but service here is better. I paid $25 for the same haircut a block away. Even out in the "burbs" by my apartment the price is still over $16. This shop includes the hot, straight razor neck shave at the end as well. No appointments, which suites me. My office is close and I can drop in over my lunch break depending on my schedule. If there is a lineup, I come back another day. Went just after new years and the place was empty, Talking to Patrick I learnd he co-owns the shop with his female partner (his wife?) and has run it for a number of years. Apparently the physical location has been a barbershop since 1920. It's his business so he cares about the quality of his work and service, which I like. He also won't talk your ear off if you don't want to gab. Wheel chair access is impossible directly from the street (maybe through the building?) The shop is located in the basement, down a half flight of stairs. I will be going there regularly from now on I think.

Two barbers run the place, one guy and one girl, and I've used both multiple times with great success. Either barber can give a great haircut well with minimal direction, "a bit shorter and cleaned up" or with detailed instructions. Each haircut ends with a straight razor to clean up your sideburns and neck (but they won't do shaves) and the price is a very reasonable $16 (cash only but there are ATMs at the bank across the street). Ottawa is a town with a ton of barbers, and I've tried a good number of them, but I keep coming back to Victoria's. The only thing to keep in mind is they don't take appointments so when you walk in you could be in for a wait if it is busy.

TVs playing some Netflix, however it stopped every couple of minutes and restarted, which was annoying. There were just two barbers, but within a few minutes a few more customers came in and soon after a couple more barbers. The haircut by a very young gentleman was perfect. He took so much care to every part of the cut. Would have liked a wash after, however it seemed it was not possible. A hot towel was a nice touch at the end. Would definitely come back.
