Please stay away from this place!! I am not a visitor nor have I ever written a bad review anywhere. I live in Ventnor and came off the beach after 6 tonight. My girlfriend and I decided to stay local and walked over to the restuarant at 8:00. The service was very good with Zach, but when the entrees arrived it was a different story. The food was ......how can I put it? Disgusting. Zach even agreed. When he sent it back, it came our worse! Im not sure what cut of beef it was but it was not what they had on the menu. Since it was not fit for consumption I asked that the entre be removed. I was told no and the manager was unaqvailable to speak to me. Went to Nucky's on Wednesday with my girlfriends for a fun dinner and then a movie. I've been here many times before, and I've had great experiences, but this time that was not the case. We sat upstairs as the bar was very crowded and waited a while for service. We did finally order and as soon as we did that, we saw a mouse run across the dining room and into the kitchen. The server did not seem too concerned when we told him, but understood when we got up to leave. The waiter downstairs was much more apologetic, but we were all grossed out and will not be going back. read more

What a fabulous idea having a bar/restaurant attached to the movie theater and you can bring your drink/food with you. It's not a large place so get there early. The bartender was friendly and efficient. The drinks were tasty and the menu looked good. Had we known before hand we would have had lunch there instead of at home. I went to Nucky's for happy hour on a Friday with some friends. We sat at the bar. The cool breeze coming from the large open windows was wonderful. I enjoyed the relaxed ambiance. I ordered a margarita without mix and the bartender nailed it. This is my go-to drink and trust me, I've had some bad ones. Now on to the appetizers. We had cheesesteak egg rolls, clams in white wine sauce, Brussels sprouts with goat cheese and Caesar salad. Everything exceeded my expectations! It was delicious! The only thing that would have improved my experience was if the bread were the Formica sub roll and a more generous piece of bread to soak up all the yummy clam sauce. Just speaking from our experience at Nucky's. I had high hopes for the place made a reservation earlier in the week and the day of I got a call if we can modify our reservations for an event that was happening in the main restaurant. Promised full dinner menu and that didn't happen. We had a table downstairs at the bar and honestly it wasn't worth it. Our server was great but people were constant pushing into the table or I had people slide behind my chair to get somewhere else in the bar? The food was not the best. Ended up only getting the bar menu ordered the Big Bang sandwich, calamari, and cheesesteak egg rolls. The chicken cutlet in the sandwich was so thin that it was overcooked and chewy so the sandwich kept falling apart. The calamari was not chewy but not crispy at all. The cheesesteak egg roll wrapper was still raw in the inside and tasted doughy. I'm being generous by giving 1 star. Had a reservation with my family for 7pm on a Friday evening. The first interaction at the hostess stand downstairs gave a quick glimpse into what the rest of the evening would hold. The hostess was visibility annoyed she had to check in guests and do her job. As a previous hostess myself, her level of customer service was disgraceful. Onto the dining experience - I will say the hostess upstairs was lovely, as well as the waitress. What we ordered: -old fashion: watered down bourbon with zero flavor. -bees knees: only part of the order that was good. Well balanced cocktail -ahi tuna appetizer: foul- sent back. I would have taken a picture of the tuna, but I didn't want to do that to my phone. Clearly frozen tuna, so over cooked, looked grey and disgusting. -meatball: watered down, tasteless marina sauce with a barely cooked, previously frozen meatball. Should have sent this back too. Inedible. -steamers: pretty hard to screw up steamers but they found a way. So salty that's all you could taste. -Burrata: Very strange assortment of things- cucumbers? Cherry tomato's? Tiny piece of cheese with no flavor I would rather eat a Wawa then ever eat here again. The prices they are charge are also abysmal for the quality. read more

Definitely check this spot out if you are in AC/Ventnor. It is attached to the movie theatre and such a cool concept. Food was great. Indoor/outdoor seating weather permitting. Rolling open glass doors which lets you take in the views of the avenue. During the summer you can see everyone riding bikes around back and forth to the beach. Great happy hour specials. Perfect spot to grab a bite to eat or a drink and then catch a movie!! Service was great gave plenty of suggestions for food options. Parking is a little tricky. Recently dined at a local shore spot offering a pleasant New American menu. The beachside around the corner added a nice touch to the experience. We enjoyed the ahi tuna, which was fresh and tasty. The draft beer selection was good and complemented our meal well. The chicken buffalo bites had a nice amount of spice, and the French onion soup was rich and satisfying. We also tried the Caesar salad that was crisp, fresh and had good amount of dressing. The service was quick, making it an overall lovely place for a relaxing meal by the beach. The crab dip had very little taste and the whipped ricotta &cinnamon had nice texture and taste. We would wait a half hour for drinks and our bottle of wine....we'll our dinner arrived and we had to chase down the waitress to get it. The chicken Parm lacked flavor and plate presence. We came for happy hour, which is every day 4-6pm. Overall great experience! The food is delicious, plentiful portions and unique menu. The short rib tacos need a sauce - something was missing. But overall our meal tasty! The service could use improvement- they need a host or crowd control in the Happy Hour downstairs area. I am so happy this place finally opened up. They've really got a great spot going and it's right in our town! These are the kinds of places that make us locals realize how lucky we are to live here. First off, what a great location, beautiful building. They did an amazing job. I've now been here twice. Once for a quick cocktail and a movie, the other for dinner with the girls. We went all out and ordered a handful of appetizers from a pretty delectable selection. I gotta say, the French onion soup made a pretty lasting impression and I will absolutely be going back for that one. Everything else was delicious as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any choice, even though I still can't wrap my head around fried avocado... that was pretty tasty as well. Service was wonderful and even the entertainment was great both times. However, the second time they were really rocking out. It's a considerably small space, so it's no wonder they were so loud. I will begin by saying that this is the prime "dinner and a movie" spot (the movie theater is built inside of the same building). My meal began with a shot of Grey Goose. My entree was the Chicken and Waffles. It was served in a different manner than I'm used to (normally wings and a waffle. This is a cutlet that was fried and cut, served with two little waffles). Went on a Monday night at 7pm. There was some kind of party going on downstairs so we were seated upstairs. We were 4 and all ordered a pasta dish. Waited over an hour with only a basket of bread. I don't know where all the food was going - there were only 2 other tables occupied upstairs. By the time our food arrived, we were the only people sitting up there. You can hit the prohibition-era speakeasy style lounge downstairs and/or catch a movie. Upstairs offers a little more of a fine dining vibe. Hopefully you can catch live music at the downstairs bar to add to your dining experience. Their bar offers an assortment of speciality cocktails that are nicely garnished as well. As always, I'm always paying attention to the details; the pictures upstairs offer a little more to their historical vibe. The scallop dish I had was intriguing. I can't say I'd think to pair these three food items together but I definitely wasn't disappointed. The balsamic and sweet potato pairing offers a salty and sweetness to the dish. The pan seared scallops offer a maillard effect that paired perfectly with the sides. The tar-tar was unique, as I've never had a tar-tar with pine nuts or mint but the flavor profile was refreshing. Menu is decent; however it hasn't changed since it opened. Beware they charge you a merchant fee even before asking if you're paying with cash or charge. If you do pay cash, a manager has to come over and void the charge. I love it that you can take a beverage into the movies. read more

We've been to Nicky's a few times and always found the food to be underwhelming and inconsistent. Too bad because it's a nice looking place, good friendly service and convenient for us. Recently we tried it again and no better. We asked for a "medium" cooked hamburger that came out overcooked dry and tasteless and a steak sandwich was also so dry it seemed like it was cooked that morning and sat all day. I've had delicious mussels for happy hour but when gone back with friends in the evening they were tasteless. Sad because they're one of the few places open in the winter. read more

Nucky's is the new place to be in Ventnor. I am a huge fan of the openness of bar area overlooking Ventnor Ave and the extremely friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Maureen was our waitress, she was very polite and on top of her game. Because of Maureen's hospitality, the quality of the food and the amazing ambiance, we came back the next night to experience it all over again. Nucky's Happy Hour drink/appetizer specials beat out any other happy hour in town, and is becoming one of my favorite places to visit while I'm in town with family. The added bonus of Nucky's is that it is attached to the historic Ventnor Square Theatre, which completes the perfect date night. I cannot wait to come back and try their dinner menu. giving this place one star because the food was really good but the service was AWFUL. to start we sat down at 7:15 no one came to us until 7:30. then we ordered drinks & appetizers and the appetizer came before our drinks. we asked for water (again) and they brought us a pitcher with no cups lol. it took an hour & a half for our food to come out. the whole time our server who i believe was named zach ignored us & gave the table next to us free drinks. while we waited an hour & a half for our food he came over once & forgot that someone had asked for a refill. while we were waiting the host came up to us & was more attentive than our own server. the service from our server literally took forever and not once did he acknowledge or apologize. extremely unfortunate because the food was really good but this dining experience was the worst i have ever had. we ordered 2 drinks, an appetizer, & 2 entrees and the meal took 3 hours with no one checking on us. do not recommend unfortunately read more

We wanted to try this place based on the name. The restaurant was super cute and decorated for the holidays. It wasn't really a speakeasy type place so the name is a bit misleading. There is supposedly a fine dining restaurant upstairs and the bar is next to the movie theater. They should consider selling that popcorn at the bar as the fragrance is so enticing as you sit at the bar. I ordered the ginger snap and my husband ordered the Jim Bean old fashioned. My drink was mild in flavor considering that it was supposed to be kind of an eggnog drink. This was a vegan cocktail which possibly played into the lack of richness of this drink. It wasn't for me. My husband did enjoy his old fashioned and said it was made well. I ordered the mussels which were pretty bland. The broth almost tasted like water. We ordered the sliders and the Brussels. The sliders were good. The Brussels were cooked well but needed the addition of salt to enhance the flavor. The bartender was kind and helpful. Overall, I'd give them another try but I'd avoid the mussels and go for a classic drink. read more

I will admit, we were trepidatious about Nucky's. The YELP reviews were great or awful, NOTHING in between.... Just the sort of place that makes me want to have my own experience... So, first myth to dispel... EVERY staff person we encountered was polite, professional and engaging... Michelle, behind the downstairs bar, was eager to give kudos for the upstairs restaurant and personal favorites feedback. The upstairs restaurant is a MUST, great atmosphere, vibe... SUCH a cool brick, historical scene... loved the ceilings, lighting and.... We met employees who have been there from the start of this establishment... they were so thrilled to inform as to their favorites and checked in to see what we enjoyed... (personally, I think this says a lot about an employee/employer, where folks are happy and engaged)... so, (back to the 'beginning') - when we arrived, we got two seats at the downstairs 'open air' bar and there was a live entertainer, young man, VERY GOOD (he was actually quite better than very good)... (be aware, it is small, so a little loud but for happy hour, we had no issue)... anyway, good drinks, good vibes (you know what I LOVED... the singer, the young man from above...) had all the staff singing along with him, they were so happy,..)
