They sell all sorts of things, from clothing and toiletries to fabric and mugs. The store has a very nice feel to it and the staff are friendly. Their sales are always very good and well worth a visit. My only complaint is that the shop is inaccessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs are a bit of a struggle too - there are steps up to the front door, and then more steps inside to get the main parts of the shop floor.

For those who don't know, Blue Cross is an animal charity for pets and horses. Rather sadly, this doesn't mean that they sell items for pets; it is in fact like any other charity shop. It's cheaper than some places, but equally less specialised - no international goods or own-brand ranges except some very cute greetings cards. Still, it's all for a good cause and you can find all sorts of second-hand goods here. They're always grateful for donations, so it's a handy place to give old clothes, books, nick-nacks and toys that you'd like to see go to a good home.

It is also worth noting that this shop sells off sample items, so you can purchase bags and shoes that you are very unlikely to see on anyone else. The stock is organised both by size (shoes) and by colour, (bags, shoes and a limited stock of clothes). It is easy to narrow down the selection if you are searching for items for a special occasion. Don't be put off coming in here if you have large or wide feet; my feet are frog shaped, and I have still been able to buy some lovely summer shoes here (although the boots are far too narrow for me).
