I would strongly urge any bride to not go anywhere near this shop. I am only giving it one star as…read moreI am not able to give zero. I ordered my "made to measure" (yeah, right!) wedding dress through this shop's sister store (owned by the same family, by the way) and experienced nothing but awful customer service and disappointment. The original store closed down between my order being placed and delivered, and the dress was delivered to House of Couture. When I came to collect the dress, it didn't fit me and had been made at least six inches longer than the "tea length" dress I had ordered. Worse still, the bottom of the dress was uneven and wonky, and the under layers could be seen poking out from underneath. According to the manager, Sue, it was not her problem to have the dress altered, despite the fact that a) the dress was not as had been ordered and b) that it was not fit for purpose and was unwearable. She washed her hands of any responsibility and simply pointed me in the direction of a seamstress, at my own cost. She maintained until the very end that it was nothing to do with her, even though the shop which I ordered the dress from was owned by her daughter and for which she herself was also a director. (Not very difficult to find this kind of information on the internet, despite her denial of a link). My bridesmaid had also placed an order with Sue for a veil as a wedding present to me. This order was placed ELEVEN weeks before my wedding, and we were told at the time of ordering that the delivery would be in four to six weeks. Having chased up the veil time and time again as the wedding approached, Sue finally told me the veil wouldn't be coming with a generous TWO weeks' notice before my wedding day. Whether or not this was linked to the fact that I had complained about my wedding dress and threatened court action, I shall never be able to prove, but what I do know is that no bride should be let down at such a short notice, and no bridal shop who cares about their brides would ever put one in that position. This shop does not care about its customers, especially if there is any kind of issue to be raised, and for any beautiful bride who wants to be made to feel special I would advise you to WALK AWAY NOW.

From the owner: Once upon a time.... many years ago a little girl of three wanted to make clothes for her dollies…read more So her mother bought her a miniature sewing machine. The desire became a passion... soon she was making cloths for herself and her sister. The little girls name was Sue and by the time she was sixteen years old she was designing and making clothes for grown ups. Sue studied hard to learn the finer points of design and dress making. The fairytale continued when she got her first job working for Norman Hartnell, then the Queens Dressmaker. Later Sue returned to work and was commissioned by The Chelsea Design Company, to work on clothes for the late Princess Diana and many of the rich and famous. Sue worked very hard and the fairytale went on... Sue Goodchild now has her own stores specializing in wedding dresses of her own designs "Femme Couture" It is her sincere wish that some of the magic of this true life fairytale may rub off onto your special day. The End
