Took my Reiki Level 1 class here and I'm so glad I did! I signed up for this one because it's a two day course and I knew it would set me up for success. Brian was personable, knowledgeable, and passionate, and the other students in my class were open and friendly. The best part is that we got lots of hands-on experience as we learned over the two days, instead of just watching an instructor. Some of the comments Brian made during the reiki level one training were inappropriate and unprofessional. What was also frustrating is the time he spent on his phone as we are all trying to learn a spiritual practice. It was disrespectful and made the experience feel not genuine. Although, he has a strong power of reiki and his class will definitely transfer the power of reiki to you. It wasn't what I was hoping to experience from a spiritual mentor. read more

I came to learn Reiki at NYC Reiki center because I wanted to embellish my already successful therapeutic BioMagnetic Therapy practice and because I am always looking for natural therapy treatments that I can learn . In the past I had done two reiki sessions but they were nothing like what I learned at Nyc reiki center this was very different !. So extremely relaxing it made me feel elevated and I had very clear sharp thought after the treatment from my fellow students , I also had a pain in my arm from a fall and it vanished it is not bothering me anymore . I was pleasantly surprised how the teaching was so clear and easy to follow with simple instructions to learn. Brian was so warm , pleasant and kind , excellent teacher! (He has been practicing reiki for 23 years )I left feeling wonderful and full of energy grateful that I had gone to that school to learn Usui Reiki ! Last Feb 2018, I participated in Reiki Level 1 class with Brian. What an amazing experience! His energy, passion, humor makes this class fun and light. Brian is also a great storyteller, you will be sitting at the edge of your seat! You can also just feel the energy as you walk into the space. It was a life changing experience, I can't imagine my life not having gone through this training with Brian. I made the decision to take Reiki Level 2, 4 months after. I took the Reiki Level 1 class with Brian Brunius. It was a great experience! I walked in a little skeptical about Reiki and walked out understanding and appreciating it so much more. Here are some of the reasons why I would recommend this class highly if you are interested in learning Reiki. If you are in NYC, there is no reason you should not do this course. Do not fall for the short courses and quick fixes. Do the real deal. The reasons are primarily around the instructor and the structure of the course Instructor 1. Brian is a Reiki Master with a very clean lineage - which means not a lot of Reiki masters between him and the master who expanded Reiki in the world. 2. He is a very patient teacher. We all had multiple questions ranging from what Reiki is to hand movements while practicing. I have had all my questions answered and I definitely understand Reiki much better now. 3. He has this aura of calm - which is tough when you have 5 people firing questions at you. That calm aura helped me learn something very new with a calm mind 4. He wants you to understand how Reiki and your lineage came to be - he will took us through a story of Reiki and it truly helped me appreciate the practice much more 5. On day 2 he encouraged us to use our intuition while practicing Reiki and this has been very helpful as I continue doing self treatments Structure 1. He has structured the course very well and follows the precepts of Reiki that require 4 initiations at Level 1 - each atleast 6 hour apart. 2. I got a lot of hands on practice on the fellow students during the 2 days which made me much more comfortable with the hand movements 3. He hosts monthly circles for students to practice Reiki - I have not yet been to one but I like the idea that the option is available and I will not be disconnected from the practice after having completed the 2 day course 4. He equips you to be able to self treat yourself every single day - which is a huge benefit and a sustainable way of maintaining your health 5. His course is has great material that you can follow with minimal notes and his guidance is very articulate leaving no questions unanswered. read more

Brian is a beautiful soul and a masterful teacher! I first came to him to learn Reiki 1 and the experience was rich, fun, and fascinating. I came away feeling confident and ready to begin my own self treatment and to practice on others. I then signed up for Reiki 2 as soon as I could. Once again, I learned so much from Brian. A good part of Reiki training involves the Master telling the class stories about the origin and use of Reiki that have been passed down from person to person. Brian is a wonderful storyteller and he held my attention the entire time. I now continue my studies with Brian by attending Reiki Circles that he hosts in his healing space. I live out in New Jersey, and it takes me about 2 hours each way to reach NYC Reiki Center, but I gladly make the trip whenever possible because my experiences training and practicing with him are that meaningful to me. At times during attunements or circles, emotions can rise up. I first began my Reiki training a few months after my father had passed, so it wasn't always easy for me to learn about healing techniques. I can count a few times that I've needed to cry it out in class to shake some of the grief off, but Brian always remains a gentle and loving presence who I feel totally safe with. Finally, I can honestly say that since training in Reiki 1 and 2, and with continued self treatment almost daily, I've become a new person. Prior to my Reiki training, it was a challenge for me to calm myself down if I became stressed, anxious, or caught in feelings of grief. Reiki training has given me a power that I never thought I would have. I use self treatment to help with headaches, anxiety, digestion issues, period cramps, etc. Along with a clean diet, exercise routine, and enough sleep I'm doing wonderfully. I've also begun treating a handful of clients myself and it's been a joy to use what Brian has taught me to help others. Immersing myself in this world was a huge part of why I was able to move through my period of grief and resume my normal life and I'm grateful for it every day. Completed Level I Reiki training this weekend, and couldn't have been happier with Brian. He was a great teacher and is a loving and kind man--with a real gift for Reiki and an incredible skill for teaching. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to feel the Reiki, but that went away pretty quickly. The hands on work was fantastic; I can't imagine why people think they can learn to do Reiki through the internet or without attunement and the guidance of a recognized Master. I'm so happy this is where I ended up. I was also nervous that the class would be full of "woo woo" nutjobs (the kind of people that my overly pragmatic self cringes at.) There were a couple of people who were over the top, which was distracting from the group sometimes, but Brian made everyone, from the nut job to my cynical self, feel welcome. He deftly handled a really disparate group of us, making us all feel good for being there. Leaving the weekend, I knew I had been trained well--and that I'd be back. I can't wait to start practicing. I took Brian's Level I Reiki class in October and it was even better than I expected. The group was small - only 5 people - so we were all able to practice and receive reiki throughout the course. This allowed us to quickly become familiar with the hand positions and what it feels like to both give and receive. Brian was always very clear and thorough in his teachings. He is also a top-notch storyteller with a deep appreciation for the history of reiki, which is truly fascinating. He encourages his students to incorporate daily self-treatment, which has worked wonders for me already. I'm already finding it incredibly helpful for easing minor pains and calming my anxiety. It disheartens me to write a less than positive review but the truth needs to be told. The moment our class started we went around the room explaining how/why we are drawn to Reiki. I had a life changing Reiki session with someone else and that's what inspired me to take a Reiki class. Brian got very close to my face and asked me who it was I- as soon as I answered, he got closer to my face and asked "How much does she charge?" in front of the whole class. I felt cornered and uncomfortable and felt what a strange and very material thing to ask of me by someone who has "Spiritual Director" on his card, who expounds concepts about how competitiveness is harmful. The second day, he was eating a McDonald's breakfast sandwich before explaining the principles of Reiki including caring for your body as a sign of respect to your teacher. I have no judgments about people's nutritional choices, but this was yet another time his words did not match his actions. It's difficult to trust someone like this who is your teacher. Although he delivers some good advice about spirituality and health, there were many moments when his words were filled with negativity. Someone asked about his crystals and whether we would learn. He said: "I don't teach that new age crap" (crystals are NOT "new age"). Furthermore, he was telling us the dangers of technology and social media while each time we practiced group treatments he was either out in the hallway or in the room on his facebook/social media. Others in my class noticed this as well. Not to mention I am a highly developed empath which means during energy work I absorb the feelings of others and can often read thoughts- he did not have the kindest things in mind about me (nor about the person I saw for my healing) and his energy was not clean and I unfortunately absorbed some of the toxicity when he was working on me. Others in my class who have highly developed sensitivities noted this as well and spoke to me about it after class. I ended up going to someone else for Reiki 2 whose classes are half the time. I was surprised how powerful her attunements were in comparison and how much more comprehensive they were- much of what was on her Reiki 1 syllabus I did not learn from Brian. I was shocked that spending 2 days in workshop led to learning less than what I would have learned in half the time. Furthermore, Brian has these rules like you cannot take Reiki 2 within 21 days etc.. but just letting everyone know not everyone practices this way. On the bright side: The certificates are nice and I did learn the hand positions well. He does have a lot of experience with Reiki and his Reiki flow is strong. read more

While I think that Brian is the real deal, I've learned that he was approached to use our session to incite an emotional response to report back to third parties who were trying to make a case for my mental and emotional health. Overall, a violating experience and I won't be going back. read more

Brian was fantastic for my very first full on Reiki session. i went to Brian originally to help my partner but he refused to attend at the time so i knew this session was now for me. He was like a 'genie' asking for three 'Goals' or wishes to help him align and impart these messages into my energy during the session. his bedside manner is exquisite and he is extremely gifted and well trained with the ability to see energy and help people to align it to become their full realization of themselves. The table he had was very comfortable and the room very calming. it's very helpful to get used to relaxing and just letting the reiki happen through calmness. I definitely felt the energy traveling through me and at one point let go completely to feel the ultimate movement of energy in a controlled experience. Once the session was over I felt light, relieved of all my anxiety and ready to do what I have been hesitating to do! As we talked more he recommended me to travel to the West Village to find a few stones that would help me to save my energy and protect it from others who draw it out leaving little reserves left for my goals. He even called the store to make sure they were open for me! I will definitely be back to get another boost from Brian! I received Reiki treatments from Brian weekly for about 4 months in 2012. I went to Brian feeling very distressed and working on some very difficult issues.
