The fogging service was the most stress free and the easiest part of an incredibly stressful day. Jen Sarferty should get an award for not only excellent communication and knowledge, but going above and beyond for friendly, courteous customer service. She kept in communication letting me know she could accommodate an earlier time the day of which was really appreciated. Just stumbled across the receipt from having bathroom tiles cleaned some time ago. They showed up as a 2-man team - one doing the talking and the other the actual work... Got talked into a chemical supplement for $60 in addition to my Groupon - effectively they sprayed some stuff from a household cleaner like bottle. Complete waste of $. The result was no different than scrubbing the tiles down myself. I expected a similar effect on the grout to active tooth whitening, but if anything it caused the opposite and the grout became darker. Maybe they do a good job on rugs but forget tiles and grout. read more

We recently were away for the holidays and our dog sitter left the dog for a little too long where there was an accident on our expensive New Zealand Wool handmade rug. We first had a company come in to do a professional cleaning job which was MOST disappointing. The carpet still spelled like dog urine and there was a terrible stain (worst than before they had cleaned it). Afterwards we called Ruven and NYC Steam Cleaning - they called me back the same evening and the next morning they picked up the rug. 7 days later the rug was returned in pristine condition, softer than it was before and looking brand new. I purchased a deal voucher for basic steam cleaning for an area rug from NYC Steam Cleaning. Even at extremely discounted pricing, I do not think this was a great deal, and I do not recommend this service. I guess you get what you pay for. The cleaners were punctual. Upon arriving, I met the team leader. He told me that the steam cleaning did "pretty much nothing" and tried to upsell me to a take away the rug for deep cleaning service. I was not interested in that and then he tried to upsell me to a steam clean with detergent. I wanted to see how effective a basic "steam clean" was and here the results were extremely disappointing. After I refused the upsell, a team of two other guys came and cleaned my rug going it over twice, for a total time of about 10 minutes. The team leader was no longer present. My expectations were quite low after being told the cleaning would do "pretty much nothing," but even still, I came away disappointed. According to the Groupon advertisement for NYC Steam Cleaning, the steam cleaner should have a heating element and the temperature of the water should be about 140 degrees. During my cleaning, the water coming out of the steam cleaner was cool to the touch, certainly neither steam, nor 140 deg in temp. The rug looked pretty much the same as before. I wasn't expecting a miracle or anything, but I do think the results would have been better if they actually used some heated water, and if they spent a bit more than 10 minutes doing the job. In summary, the general experience felt to me like the cleaners just wanted to get out as fast as possible and do the absolute minimum since I did not agree to the upsell. The water was cool to the touch and not heated. More than a steam clean, this was just a wet vacuuming. read more
