Martial arts was a perfect fit and was helping him. When we moved to Syosset, we knew we wanted him to continue with martial arts so we spent some time trying to find a school that would be a good fit. He was three at the time so a lot of schools were hesitant to take him. Then we met Sensei Karen at Zanshin Self Defense. From the first sample class we knew her and her school would be perfect for our son. The classes are well structured and no one in the class is left behind. Each class flows from physical fitness to running, skills, and finally ending with some kind of fun game that the kids love. The best part is my son's muscular development is markedly improved and he is now doing drills with ease that used to give him troubles. Sensei Karen is great at empowering the kids and making them proud when they earn a "stripe" or their next colored belt. My son was so proud when he made yellow belt that I couldn't wipe the smile off of his face. Truly a joy to behold. Highly recommended and the first class is free. The 10am class was packed, but very well run with a combination of senseis and advanced students. My boys got a good workout and I definitely saw them learning some very valuable technique at class #2. As their father, of course I love them, but they are distracted (one diagnosed). I noticed one of the senseis (in a black gi) sitting and working nearly exclusively with them both to help them respect and integrate with the class during the entire time. I was actively watching and very impressed by this attention to two new students. My boys told me his name is sensei John and he was very helpful to them both. With the many things parents try for our kids, I'm hopeful this one sticks.

If you want to learn how to defend yourself and your family, this is the place to be. How do I know? Simple. I've been training here for the past three years in Krav Maga. The instructor (we call him Soke), Tony Morrison is a martial arts practitioner for the past 40 years. He is the best teacher I've ever experienced. He motivates you. He guides you and helps you understand how to use these techniques and strategies to protect yourself. Adult Krav Classes are held five days a week. You can come once a week, twice a week or five days a week, all for the same price. Personally, I come five days a week. (I wish he had classes seven days a week as I'd be there every day.) Soke Morrison is a 4th degree black belt in Krav Maga and the drills and training are amazing. That's why so many of us keep returning every day and every week. By the way, you get a great workout by the end of each class in addition to learning great skills to help you go about your daily life. Note, when reading reviews online, make sure you separate out reviews about the training and instruction as opposed to perceived injustices from people who have nothing to do with the training or the principles being taught at this excellent Krav Maga school.
