Spent my birthday at Nürburgring and was able to get a lap with N-Rent in Adenau. Mike was my representative at the rental car place. Spoke great English and was very knowledgeable about the track. Was really cool to be able to get on such an iconic track.

Nurburgring is a thing. If you like to drive, and if you want to take your car to the professional race track, and if you don't mind that that they only open to public in late afternoon btw 5 and 7ish, then go for it. It's in the middle of nowhere in Nurburg, and you have to drive to it. The gift shop has cool shirts. It's the only of it's kind in the world. Yes it's one of a kind in the world. One round on the track is around 20 km or 13? miles, it will cost 29 Euro for summer of 2016. There are motorcycles, amateur and pro race car drivers and a whole lot of foreigners, most of them from England. I enjoyed people watching. I don't like the race track. It's a bit scary actually, the fast speed makes me queasy but i can see it's appealing. So in short, if you love driving, love driving fast, love driving race cars, love cars, this is your heavenly place.

Wow... what a buzz. The Nordschleife is open during weekends and during the week for a couple of hours in the evening during the summer months. It is worth checking on the website to make sure that they intend to open the track and it's also worth noting that they don't strictly abide to the times published. When we were there, it opened late and was closing early to allow some private testing by one of the car companies. Widely considered one of the most challenging race tracks in existence, we decided to take a Ford Focus around it. Buying tickets was easy, there's a counter next to the toll where you join the track and although it was busy, it seemed that most people were there to watch the cars and not go around themselves. As for the track, unless you've got a sports car, keep to the right. You will get passed by people with faster cars who know the track better than you. There were no accidents while we were there, which was good as there are very few marshals around to deal with them if you do crash. It's an amazing buzz, but stay safe!

I came here with a buddy of mine to watch Manchester United take on Bayer Leverkusen in UCL play…read more The stadium is pretty nice from the outside as we walked towards it. It was a bit weird though walking through a fully wooded park from the train station to get to the stadium. Once we got there, we got to our seats then visited the concessions. I hate this Bundesliga system of having to buy a debit card to purchase anything. They charge you a ridiculous fee just for the card, but you can turn that card in after the match to get your money back. What they don't tell you is that the line to turn your card back in is ridiculously long. Our seats were pretty comfortable and we got a great view of the match from behind the south end. The away fans were put into the corner to the left of us and they were loud & clear in their chants (of course it helped that they were dominating). The food was alright here, but the beer sucked. They only had bitburger even though their signed said they had kolsch. Also, no one here seemed to really speak English or at least pretended like they didn't which I was really surprised.

Would highly recommend the Premium VIP Lounge West, it's such an awesome place to hang out before…read moreand after the game and eat some awesome food-- I was told when we got there that the food they have for each of the games are dependent on the team Leverkusen is playing that day...which I thought was pretty cool.

Great venue! About an hour and 1/2 drive from our house in Niedernhausen, but well worth it…read more My daughter wanted to see a live musical, so... Rocky Horror Show it was. Despite the nose bleed seats, a great view. I seriously don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Whether it's a musical, a play, or a rock concert, I think you'll be pleased with this venue. Parking was even easy... Prost!

Some reviews deserve a context…read more.. The man asked what I wanted to do for my birthday. I do not celebrate birthdays, sometimes I do not even remember it until the last minute. However, I said I would like to see Sade when she goes on tour in 2011 because only Lord knows when she will go on tour again. It's been 10 years since her last tour, and I missed the last one because I was in an inaccessible country at that time. I told him I am not missing her this time. Normal people, who are not crazy, will wait for their favorite artist to come to town (or a nearby town) and see him/her. Not us! We are two crazy guys, we don't do things normally. Instead of waiting for Sade to come to Chicago in August, the man bought me tickets to see her on the exact day of my birth (in May). The only issue: the concert is in Cologne, Germany. Kinda far from Chicago. Not the kind to flinch at such decisions, we hopped on a plane and flew to Cologne (there were other European cities to be visited on the trip, but that is a separate topic). The concert took place at the Lanxess arena, which leads us to the review at hand... Located on the east side of the Rhine, Lanxess arena is a moderately sized venue. It pales in comparison to the huge arenas we have in the US (United Center, Staples Center etc), but this is Europe, things are not as big as the US. They are just well designed and pretty. The acoustics were perfect. Lighting arrangements added an extra punch to the show. We had excellent seats, just a few rows from the stage and the view was spectacular. Sade brought the crowd to their feet swaying in harmony. I have never seen a more sophisticated and classy concert in my life. Vendors selling pretzels and beer, clean bathrooms and orderly crowd made the experience better. This would be a five star concert venue if not for the small projection screens. People in the US have TVs bigger than the screens inside Lanxess. Best birthday ever!
