Seriously the best Christmas market in Europe, at least of the around 7 we went to! This was our first stop once we flew into Germany. I honestly did not think the first would be the best. It was! There were so many different types of vendors. We tried some delicious food, had some hot cider, bought some leather goods, Christmas ornaments and browsed for a while. There is such an eclectic variety of vendors so there is something new to discover in each booth. I tried some great sweets. The cider was great as I did not want the warm wine. I of course had to try the sausages which are famous at this market and they did not disappoint!! I would eat 30 of them!! I got some hand made ceramic Christmas ornaments which were beautiful. I also found a beautiful leather wallet. My nephew got a leather belt which was stamped to fit him now and for years to come! The vendors spoke amazing English which made shopping a breeze as a tourist. I would love to visit this market again! I would gladly come year after year if I could! If you are thinking about visiting, please do! The market is beautiful and has a gorgeous church in front of it. There were also children performing and it was lovely.

This is one of Germany's more popular and famous Christmas markets, but it's also a little disappointing. No doubt it's huge, with tons of stands and thousands of people, but as a result it also doesn't have much of its own personality. Yes, there's lots of things to buy which makes it a paradise for shoppers, but the booth owners know that and have lots of overpriced tourist trinkets. I say trinkets because very few items are things you'd actually want to buy, and the quality seemed pretty low across the board. Ditto for the "famous" gingerbread stands, which featured those gross and crunchy, massed produced iced cookies. The town is credited with inventing gingerbread so the market has way too many stalls devoted to the treat. Seriously, it was like every other stand sold the same gingerbread, and it got super repetitive after the first two dozen gingerbread vendors. Thankfully I discovered a couple of local sausage stands with friendly folks cooking up bratwurst to order, but those were few and far between. I'm glad I went to this market but it was one of my least favorite in all of Germany. You should see it just to check it off your bucket list, but one evening there is plenty.

I've long dreamed of visiting the Christmas markets in Europe and finally made the dream a reality. In addition to the market here in Nuremberg we also visited markets in Prague and Vienna. In comparison the market in Nuremberg is a standout for its style, color and of course amazing food like the famous bratwurst and gingerbread. This is also one of the largest we visited in our European tour with over 140 stands and lots of local and unique items. There's even a special kids section with animated displays and a couple of small kiddie rides. It is impossible not to feel the Christmas spirit walking around the market in the shadow of the imposing gothic church. There are nightly performances by a variety of musical groups from grade school kids to church bands and more at a small stage beneath two soaring lighted Christmas trees. We visited for two days staying in a hotel directly on the main square (Hauptmarkt) so had easy access to the market as well as a Birdseye view out our window. I really enjoyed walking around the market, tasting the gingerbread and Nuremberg sausages and buying a few items including the special gingerbread, a "smoker" (holiday figurine that burns in sense), a Santa figure and a few hand/made ornaments. Based on what we've seen in other cities, Nuremberg's, reputation for its market is well deserved. Tip:it's CRAZY CROWDED on weekends so be prepared. We visited Monday/Tuesday and while busy, still manageable

This is supposed to be one of the most famous Christmas Markets in Germany (actually, probably in the whole world). Yet after going to the Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt, this one seemed a little disappointing. It wasn't nearly as big, the vendors didn't offer as much variety, and there seemed like there were fewer special events going on. It wasn't bad in any way, and if you like Christmas or Glühwein, you will surely have a great time here. It was well organized and there were still lots of people and lots of stuff going on. But I'm of the opinion that Stuttgart or Munich offer better Christmas markets, so I can't give this one five stars.
Visiting the Nürnberg Christkindlesmarkt was an unforgettable experience. The entire market feels like something out of a storybook, with rows of beautifully decorated wooden stalls, twinkling lights, and the historic city backdrop creating a truly festive atmosphere. There's no shortage of incredible food and drinks--warm glühwein served in collectible mugs, delicious lebkuchen, bratwurst, and other traditional treats that are perfectly suited for a cold winter evening. Every stall we visited was welcoming, and the quality of the food and handmade goods was excellent. What really stood out was the charm and authenticity of the market. It's lively without feeling overwhelming, and you can genuinely feel the history and tradition behind it. Whether you're shopping for unique gifts, enjoying seasonal food, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, this market is a must-visit during the Christmas season. And don't forget to order the "drei I'm weckla." It's three nurnberger sausages in a bread roll. read more

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is one of the most famous Christmas markets in the world. It was certainly the biggest Christmas market that we had gone to during our trip. Every time we turned a corner, there was more! There are also three smaller side markets to this - a market devoted to just Franconian food and wares, a market devoted to sister cities from all over the world, and a children's market with small rides. At the Christkindlmarkt, we had Dampfnudel smothered in a vanilla cream sauce. It honestly tasted a bit like a mantao with sweet cream sauce. We also had Nürnberger Rostbratwurst, which are small, flavorful pork sausages that are grilled and served in a bun or with sauerkraut. We also had Schaschlik mit Brötchen, a popular German street food of tender, saucy meat skewers (often pork, bacon, onion, peppers) that is served with a hearty tomato-based sauce and a piece of crusty bread roll to soak up the sauce. And of course, we had to get a Glühwein! read more
During the 2023 Christmas season, we tried to visit as many Christmas Markets we could squeeze in. This happened to be the first we visited and was probably one of my favorites. The vendors were all very pleasant. There was so much variety in the stalls. The food was wonderful. They even had their mugs so close to Christmas whereas other markets ran out. The market was quite large, I think we spent around 2 hours walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. We arrived in the afternoon before it got too busy, it seems once the sun starts to set, more people come out to enjoy the lights and everything the market has to offer. I really loved this market and would love to come back again one day. read more

First time to a German Christmas market, and we really liked it. We tried the Nürnberger sausage sandwich with some mustard, and while it was good, me and my wife like the bratwurst with kraut and mustard better. Kraut was delicious. Potato fried pancakes were hot and good. The sights and smells of the market are awesome. read more

Such a fun place! I performed here on the Market stage and it was so much fun! Shopping in the Christmas Market and eating food from the market was a ton of fun. It was pretty chilly outside but it was really fun to be there and be part of the environment. read more
out of all the european markets i went to (london, zurich and paris) this one was by far my favorite! i loved how traditional it was (according to a friend there is a screening process to ensure all the booths keep with the culture & traditions) it was cold as balls (coming from a true californian) but i H I G H L Y recommend the apple rum cider to stay nice and warm! there's only one stand by the chapel/church so make sure to stop by there! there's also a stand that sold potato pancakes with apple sauce which was unexpectedly delightful :)! my favorite sausage booth was the one that came with a curry and spice with a bread roll (so good). i love how they make you pay a deposit so you return their utensils so they can reuse them, so eco-friendly! a must if you find yourself in nuremberg in december! :) read more

Among all Christmas Markets in Germany there is one that is the most apropriate for UK or American Guests, an that is where the Christkindl is at home, the one and only Nuremberg Festival Event. Nuremberg Christkindles Market for centuries now is the leading event at that time of the year. Hundreds of Cooaches every year tour there to bring lots and lots of people to the central market place of nuremberg, to enjoy a unique illumination, may it be as could as now, with seems to be millions of candles, ment to say gold colour shining small lights all over, in addition to the impressive publique illimination to all mayer buildings in the old imperial town, we can rejoyce to be part of a vivid crowd of antstate like 10.000s of laughing, smiling, happy users roling as active users in the worlds biggest christmas event. It is from here that originate lots of traditional christmas presents made of straw or wood, here you really find all kind of everything. From here come the best small german saussages, special lebkuchen-cakes, and while a place like Munich is proud of its breweries, here you find the producers of the most popular gluehwein, spicy red hot wine, the favorite drink of sich events, warming up even the naughtiest coldest weather. Who ever loves live presentations of christmas child friendly events and presentations, here they will find the place to go an enjoy the best surroundings and best background to feel comely and homely. And that does nort only mean the young ones, there are many grown up old or elderly people who seem to be waiting all the year long to have the chance at christmals time to get to Nuremberg to be an active player ant in this big christian event. Never been there? Missed a lot. Solution: too late this year, go there next year, you will love it participating, being a member of that big international family of golden hearted christmas christkindles market freaks. Mark my words, you will remember. read more

As a child and later as a military wife, I lived in Germany. While living in Nuremberg, behind the Scholler factory, it was there that my heart found home. Christmas was always my favorite holiday, but the weihnachtsmarkt in downtown Nuremberg was a fairy tale wonderland! Walking in the drifting snow, drinking hot Gluhwein, smells all the wonderful scents riding by on snowflakes and shopping for all things Christmas! People everywhere, happy, jolly and as much a part of the scene as was I. Crowed, yes,, but the feeling of the Holiday negated any sort of crushed sensation! It was wonderful. It was magical. It was something that we did every year we were there. Catching a Strassenbahn or a taxi made the trip even more adventurous and fun. This is one place, one time, and one city that everyone should visit, at least once to discover that the joy of Christmas is alive and flourishing in Old City Nuremberg, Germany. read more

It was a great experience. I wish that the market was cover by snow, but this year was way to warm. People are friendly and great foods.

We visited there in 1973 as newlywed s from the US Army. I will never forget the charm and excitement of our first Christmas together. I still have the ornaments we bought to hang on our first Christmas tree. read more

Fazit: Ein Besuch dort lohnt nicht! read more

Ein wirklich sehr schönes Ambiente. read more
