I have been to O'Charley's for lunch several times and always found the food to be good. However my wife and I stopped yesterday for dinner and were not pleased. We ordered 2 of the $9.99 meals. I had the shrimp and fish, which were deep fried and overdone. The side of broccoli was so over-cooked it could have been soup. The meal was served with fries but I had to ask for them. They were terrible, as if they had been reheated. My wife had the "southern fried chicken", which was anything but southern+ it was deep fried and overdone. The Smashed Potato was so-so. We both commented that we should have gone to Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel, this is how bad the food was ! read more

We waited for 2 hours to even be seated, after passing the 2 hour mark we chose to leave because they were not seating anybody in the restaurant because they were backed up on to go orders. I understand the importance of to go orders but we were at the restaurant waiting both customers are just as important. They even told us that even if they would sit us it would still be an hour or more until we would get our food. It was a Saturday night they needed to be more prepared for those type of situations because they lost a lot of customers that night because they kept turning people away. Mother's day. Was seated quickly. Server was friendly. However, service was very slow. Took forever to get water and coffee. Bread and salads took a long time. Bread was hot (fresh from the oven.) Meal was delivered within a minute of getting our salads leaving us no time to eat it. Wife ordered 6oz sirloin cooked "medium" it came "well done". The bread is really soft and warm and the steak was good and tender. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came from a can and then sprinkles with cheddar cheese to try to help it out. Really it was disgusting. It was a pretty mediocre meal that was overpriced. read more

Went for lunch today and it was good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, I ordered the brunch breakfast taco and my husband ordered the eggs Benedict. He said his eggs were good and had no complaints. I can say I wasn't pleased with the free bread, it was extremely sweet tasting. But it was free so no big deal. My meal was very good. I was pleased and it was a large serving. The mixed drinks were good too. Very strong so we were pleased there too lol .. oh the green tomatoes were okay. They're just not in season I think. They didn't have the green tomato "zing" we were hoping for. But still cooked good. No true complaints. I do like that the waitress brought a plate of desserts to see instead of just asking if we wanted dessert. We never order dessert when we go out but we did because, well, it looked great. read more

I called to place a take out order and the female said she had to put me on hold. I was on hold for 7 minutes. I hung up and called back and placed my order. We went to pick up the order and waited at the curb for 10 minutes. During that time a female staff came out and said someone would be right with us and then she went and smoked. About five minutes later that same female staff along with another female staff walked back into the restaurant. No one ever came out. My husband went in to get the order. When we pulled into the parking lot we commented that for 5:45 there was hardly anyone in the parking lot. I understand why now. I have been to several of these all over the eastern and southern US. This one in Niles Ohio has been very consistent with bad service. The food has always been good but the service has not. The manager does walk the floor and inquires about the food but doesn't ask about the service. I will not be going back, I have too many options. read more

So my husband and I arrive at the restaurant around 6 on a wednesday evening, the place was busy but now crowded, we did have to wait 15 minutes for a table even though there were seats available. Restaurants really need to be better at assisting the customer, not making the customer wait because the next waitress in line for a table isn't ready!! The server being ready is not the problem of the customer!! So we got our table, the soup of the day was Chicken Tortilla, I ordered that and a salad and my husband ordered a Cobb salad. By the time our dinners finally arrived everyone around us had been seated and served and we were almost done with our beverages. So when my soup was delivered it didnt have any tortillas so I asked if I could have some the waitress said "Oh we're out", she didnt apoligize, didnt offer any substitute didnt even look phased by the comment and walked off. So you may think its no big deal but Tortillas are a main component of Chicken and TORTILLA soup! It was the only reason I ordered the soup! The waitress never again made eye contact with me, she only spoke to my husband after this. I think she was surprised and maybe disapointed when she placed the bill in front of my husband and I grabbed it to pay, her actions were reflected in the measly tip. IF she had offered a bit of human compassion I would have gladly given her a generous tip but she acted dead inside and dont reward that behavour. So I was gyped on the tortillas - I didnt eat the soup and she didnt offer to remove it from the bill - and she was gypped on her tip. I think we're even. I also think we're done with this restaurant, this isn't the first time we've had poor service and the food is no different that what you'd be served at a Perkins or Dennys. Spend your money at another restaurant where you'll receive better service and the food isnt average. Sorry O'Charleys, but you really need to do better and change your mindset to "The CUSTOMER comes first", not whenever you're ready for them. read more

Just had the all you can eat Catfish (12.99) which is not that bad of a deal considering you can get two sides w/the first serving. The soup & baked sweet potato were great and so was the catfish, lightly seasoned w/paprika, unsalted as an entrée should be. BUT Everything changes after that. I ordered a second serving of the a Catfish and was disappointed that it came heavily seasoned & heavily salted. Salting a customers entree portion on their dish is not a normal practice. When I order a steak ( or any other entree ) at any restaurant they don't salt it ahead for me so why would this be any different? Only reason I can think of is this is there way of getting you to move on without eating any more than they want you too! read more

We did curb side take away from O'Charleys last evening and while the food was great for take away - the young lady working the take away was so pathetic that I gave it three stars. Customer service is a HUGE factor in my rating a place and tonight she really cost them. Let me start by saying I called at 6pm and ordered two items. A Better Bacon Cheese Burger and fries and an order of the Chicken fingers dinner with loaded potato and hush puppies. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at the fifteen minute mark and there were three cars in the curb side to go lane. I waited 20 minutes and was not acknowledged at all. The young lady working the line did not even look back at the cars in line but instead services us as if we were a drive thru. To me she could have at least waived, said I'll be with you in a minute or even seen what name t was because my order should have been ready. At 25 minutes I called and asked if it was better if I ran I. To get the food and she informed me "no. I'll be right out" and hung up. Uh- RUDE. It was another 10 before I was the car in first place, three more behind me and I finally got our food. She never apologized for the wait, she never thanked me, and she got no tip because of this behavior! Our food was still warm, thank goodness, and it was good. The baked potato was so soft and yummy. I loved my chicken tenders, too, but they were vey he oaky breaded so I felt like I mostly ate breading. The hush puppies were good, but on the greasy side so I think I'll pass on them next time. My daughter said her burger was over cooked but still enjoyable. All in all the food was good but again the service was so lacking that I am not sure I'll splurge there again. read more

Value is huge for me when it comes to restaurants. You expect some things when you're paying $50 a plate and others when you're paying $14 a plate. O'Charley's has great food at around $14 a plate on average. The hand breaded chicken is some of the best I've had, and the fries are on par with what you'd expect from a chain, as are the rolls. The service was great though. Everybody was really friendly, the food was out quickly, our waitress wasn't pushy about appetites or desert, and the atmosphere is really solid for a chain. The drinks are about what you'd pay at any similar chain, but the portions are much more generous. It gets five stars because, for what it is, it's a really great value. A little date night with the girlfriend set is back about $55 including our drinks and the 20% gratuity we left, and for that price it's a great restaurant. read more

Came from out of town and was looking for a place to eat. My mother had been to an O'Charley's and loved it. We ordered our food and after 45 minutes still hadn't gotten the order. The couple sitting across from us ordered 20 min after we did and they got their ribs before us. We finally asked to take our food to go as we still hasn't gotten it. My order was completely wrong and my mothers shrimp was chewy and hard. Bad bad bad. So sad as this could be a great place. The manager didn't even come by and say sorry. read more

This place is honestly not a place to go if you're looking for a place to eat right away. It took them 15 mins to seat us, and it's taken them 20 mins to just take our order, get us drinks, or roll. The time we came before they burnt our food, and it took them thirty mins just to bring out our food and then they had to take it back because it was burnt so them it took them another 20 to get our food in return. Well, it was date night, supposed to be an enjoyable time. First off, I was looking forward to the prime rib, but Nope! sorry, it was 6 pm and they were out. Ok, first red flag. It was going to be a 35 minute wait, no big deal it was a Saturday night. So while I was waiting I tried scrolling through the online menu to pick something else. Our name was called and the hostess started directing us to our table. 2nd red flag, I am handicapped and walk with a cane, and basically had to almost run to keep up with her. We get to the table and, 3rd red flag here, I put my purse down and Ken our server asked us for our drink order. It would have been nice if I had time to take my coat off and look at the drink menu. So we get to sit down, and Ken brings our drinks and asks for our order. Another red flag here, can we at least look at the menu. So he hovers behind us waiting for us to decide. I chose the ribeye, medium well and pickle chips for my appetizer. My husband asked for the potato skins as the appetizer and the seafood combo platter as the entrée, Ken asked if he wanted the skins first and the combo platter as the entrée. We were a little confused at this, but we said yes since Ken was rushing us so much. The appetizers came and I then asked for a Tito's lemonade. I had to add 3 sugar packs just for it to be sweet enough to drink it was so bitter. And my husband about gagged on the sweetness of the tea. Then the entrées came and my Ken had put in the top shelf sampler platter as my husband's entrée. He kept saying that he had asked if we wanted the sampler as the entrée like it was our fault. Perhaps if Ken was a little patient he would have paid attention to my husband pointing at the picture when he ordered. So the platters were exchanged and we proceeded to eat our dinner. The entire time Ken and another male employee were behind us at the POS station complaining about how busy they were. I guess they don't enjoy making decent tips. So my ribeye tasted like it was chopped steak instead of a ribeye, it even had the texture of chopped steak. My husband's seafood was so greasy that he could not eat most of it. I went to the restroom and I was disgusted at how dirty it was. I can understand it being busy, but the ring around the toilet bowl showed that it had not been properly cleaned in weeks. We packed up the last of dinner to take home to the dogs and cats and left. Ken never bothered to ask us if we had enjoyed our meal, last red flag. Needless to say it was a terrible experience. Oh, and I forgot to mention all the neon colored bandages on Ken's hands, all of them rather loosely placed. Perhaps if he had that many wounds on his hands he should have been wearing gloves or in a different position until his wounds healed, or at least had neutral colors so that they were not so obvious. It will take a lot for me to go back, I was so disappointed. I probably would have had a better dinner at Five Guys, for $50 cheaper. read more

First time I ever went there my shrimp where under cooked, I decied to venture there again and this time there was hair in my food so after that i have officially writtent this place off oh and I forgot to mention the service the second time I went was horrible waitress never checked on us we had to hunt her down just to get our check. We sit at the bar and the customer service is top notch, every time. We frequent this restaurant often and the manager always says hello. I love O'Charleys. It is my go to restaurant. The service and food are always excellent....until today. Well i can't even tell you how the food was today because we didn't get that far. We walked in about 1:50pm, it was so busy it caught us off guard. The entire lobby was filled with standing room only. I walked up to the hostess station while the lady working it continued to organize menus and look around for seats, for a good 3 minutes before she looked at me and asked if she'd taken my name yet. She began by saying we could sit at the bar with no wait and seemed very adament about it, but if i wanted to sit at a bar and eat I'd go to a bar. I told her we'd prefer a table and asked how long for 2, she said 15-20 minutes. I gave her my name and we started to wait. About 5 minutes went by and i asked if i could give her my cell # to get a text notification when the table was ready so we could go sit in the car since the lobby was so crowded. She said of course. Took my #, i got the initial notification saying theyd text me when our table was open and we went out to the car. 35 minutes later we still had no text, at this point it was pouring a rain/sleet mix so we left and got take out and went home. By the way, it's now 7:40pm and i have yet to get the text saying our table is ready. read more

Every time I go here, the food is excellent and everything I've tried is delicious. I usually get the cedar planked salmon with a baked potato and Caesar salad. The salmon is very flavorful and flaky. It is one of my favorite salmon entrees from a restaurant and the best in the area. I recommend this for the salmon lover and first time salmon eater alike. My mom loves the prime rib, she says it is very tender and well seasoned and O'Charleys has quickly become her favorite restaurant. The yeast dinner rolls are perfectly soft with the right amount of texture and they go great with the whipped butter. I've also tried the Top Shelf Appetizer with the chicken strips, jack cheese wedges and potato skins and it was really good. The chicken strips are the best I've had from a restaurant and go great with the honey mustard dip even though I'm usually not a honey mustard fan. Cheese wedges are a unique twist on cheese sticks. The desserts are also pretty good. Prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food. Lastly, the service has always been great every time we've eaten here. read more

I have eaten here in the past and had typical Applebee's style food. I went back with a gift card and planned to order a rib-eye steak. My wife was going to order a fillet minion. Before entering the restaurant we noticed a sign stating that you can get a bottle of wine for $10 with two entrees. The picture showed a steak dinner and a bottle of Moussaoui Pinot Noir. In our area Moussaoui sells for $8.99 at the wine shop so a restaurant could use it as a loss leader. The sign did have a disclaimer that not all varieties were available at all stores. I asked my waiter if they carried the Moussaoui. He said they did but it wasn't available as the special. Instead I could get a bottle of Barefoot Pinot which is garbage wine. I asked to see the manager. She was very rude and said to read the fine print. I said that I expected if the restaurant carried Moussaoui it should honor the signage. She replied that it was just a picture that meant nothing. I discovered I wasn't the first to complain. She said there was nothing she could do. It clearly was deceptive advertising! We ate at o charleys friday night. I had the 9.99 fish and shrimp dinner. Fish was good, but the shrimp was sad. They were little , breaded and too insignificant to be part of a dinner. The server, I think his name was Ken, he never did introduce himself could not even wait for my wife and I to get our coats off before he was asking for our drink order. After being rushed we ordered a Titos lemonade that tasted like nothing but seltzer water. We went for the prime rib but they were out at 6pm so we ordered a seafood platter and a ribeye. How our server decided I would rather have a sampler platter instead of the seafood combo is beyond me. This did get fixed but in hindsite he was probably right considering the fish was horrible the shrimp was nasty and what was supposed to be crab was crap. Tasted like it was cooked in 6 month old cold grease brought it home to feed the cats. The ribeye while it was medium well was so dry you could barely chew it.
