O'Donovan's used to be my spot on Wednesdays for karaoke. But the new "dj" is terrible. He favorites people and skips them in the line. it's just a bad time over all. I waited from 11-1am to sing and ended up leaving cause I got tired of waiting (it wasn't that busy) I miss the old dj and the old vibe. Not coming back again. Again I post to write a bad review for this restaurant, they requested to get my review removed. I am not joking this place discriminated me by my color, I went in to get water from the dispenser twice and was asked to immediately leave. There was nothing I have done to have been kicked out like that. I feel racially discriminated because I was the only black there in both instances, meanwhile everyone smile and laugh drinking their beverage, I have to leave the place which I was only in there for like 30 seconds. I work in Pomona and go to one of the nearby colleges, I should not have been treated this way. I had an amazing time at Odonovan's tonight the food was so delicious from the wings to the smash burger and the drink selection was very well thought out. I especially wanna give a thank you to our bartender Tony he was so amazing!!! His drinks were soooo delicious he was super attentive and efficient and it made us wanna try several drinks and trust me he didn't miss!!! The Grinchmas was so delicious, kudos to whoever came up with that one, I recommend it before it runs out!! Confusing when you walk in. We wanted the pub, but wanted food and the food sign sends you to a club/lounge. The music was so loud and the bartender was playing through his phone and texting so you could hear each letter he pressed through the speakers. The food was so, so, so mediocre. This place is underground. I repeat this place is literally underground. I mistakenly went to the street level side to this establishment and they let me know they were not open yet and that downstairs was open. I then made my way down to find this low lit, basement lookin, Cask of Amontillado-esk spot. I'm really frustrated with the security service at this place. After a night of drinks and pool, I left my phone and backpack inside when I went to the car with my friends. When I realized my things were missing and tried to go back in, the security guard stopped me and demanded my ID, even though I had just been there moments before. I explained that my ID was inside, but he told me I'd have to come back tomorrow. Feeling upset, I returned to the car, worried about being without my keys, phone, and wallet. I went back to the entrance hoping to talk to someone, but instead, I was met with aggression. While I was explaining my situation to another security guard, the original one pushed me. When I told him not to push me, the other guard jumped in, and they started dragging me across the concrete, trying to pin me against the wall constantly repeating "do you want us to call the cops!". Eventually it all ended when my friends came out telling them to stop with my belongings in hand. I've been to this place many times, but I've never seen such disrespectful and aggressive behavior from the staff. This was completely unacceptable and I am truly DISGUSTED in the actions of the staff. read more

I think you have the event mixed up with another event. I don't understand how you can say it was someone scamming the hosts of the event when there were bartenders and cooks working the bar & kitchen area. There obviously was a security guard at the door, I'm sure hired by O'donavan's that was letting them into the private event or go down to the restaurant. Overall I am incredibly disappointed with this experience and your lack of professionalism with your response stating that the hosts were scammed instead of taking responsibility for your employees unprofessionalism. read more

I love O'Donovans Pub. One of my favorite spots in downtown Pomona. Always a great atmosphere good drinks and music. The bartenders are always quick and know what they are doing with the drinks. The bartender Stephanie is so sweet and makes a great margarita. All the security staff keeps the place safe. They do check your purse at the door and guys will get searched too.
