What a great find to get a good gluten free meal!! They have a big selection of gluten free, examples; fried pickles, big gigantic cheesy tator tots, she will always have one soup and one dessert gluten free, GF burger buns and my new favorite, the GF fish and chips!! She has much more options, just ask the bartender or server and they can help as the menu didn't have the GF indicators. I also got the gluten free s'mores cake and it was delicious!! Made by their in house baker. They take extra precautions because the owners daughter has celiac. So therefore every one on staff is knowledgeable. This place is decent on the food front and drinks if you can get past the smell from the kitchen. Golly, it fills the walls and encompasses you as soon as you walk in. This pub came highly recommended while visiting Lancaster. I got the fish and chips, which were nicely battered. The fish were bite-sized and smaller than I'm used to, but it was a nice surprise and I liked them a lot! The fries went well with the fish, too. The entree came with another side, and I picked the smashed peas, which had a bit of mint in them and were tasty. They have many beers on tap here, including some local Ohio beers. They also have a very large menu of other beverages, including wine, hard seltzer, cocktails and others. I forgot to take a pic of the kids menu, but they do have a kids menu! It has your typical kid-friendly food on it, and my kid got mac & cheese. The restaurant itself is very dark inside -- like being in a little cave. I guess that's a-OK because it's a pub, right?! I am so glad we stopped in during our trip to Hocking Hills for a long weekend (we stayed in Lancaster). This is a local gem! So much so that we ate dinner here both nights. Both evenings we sat at the bar and had outstanding service from the owner (think Judy was her name). Drinks were great, I had an espresso martini one evening and it was one of best I've had. My boyfriend loved the beer selection. Wine was also good, a go-to for me. We had the bangers and mash with a salad the first night and loved it. Second night we split a burger, tried Irish nachos- sides were minty mashed peas and the cabbage and potato mix (forget proper name)- both were fabulous! Both evenings we splurged and split cheesecake which is house made. Chai then peach cobbler flavor. Outstanding. I will miss this place now we're back home. Highly recommend a stop in. A long irish bar stretches halfway along its interior and old wooden booths across from their bar. Took me back to my traveling days in Ireland. The menu offers traditional Irish options, such as Fish 'n Chips, Cottage Pie, "William Wallace" sandwich (i.e. corned beef & cabbage) and Banger and Mash. We started with the egg rolls. They were crunchy on the outside! The sauces were delicious. The jam sauce was a little spicy but had good flavor. I would have liked a little more cream cheese. I ordered the fish and chips which was recommended by the bartender. The fish seemed a little over cooked but the breading was crispy! Have always passed by this place, but up until this point, had never stopped. It was dinner rush on a Friday night, but we were able to be seated at the bar. It's rather small inside, I was surprised by this, but it is an old building. We order a drink, but the draft had kicked. When it was changed and our beer was out, it was flat. We were given a bottle while the issue was resolved and then a fresh draft as soon as it was corrected. We were charged for none of it due to the inconvenience. The egg rolls were great. Crispy on the outside and a good mix of cabbage and corned beef on the inside, however, the sauces stole the show. The jam had a great little kick and a nice vinegar twang that cut through the heavy flavors of the cabbage and beef. I'd buy this sauce in bulk if it was offered. I had a side salad which was very large and had a good amount of toppings. The fish and chips were a bit disappointing after the egg Rolls. The fish was pretty oily and a bit over done. The fish and chips were really good and our waitress worked her tail off as she was the only one assisting our table and the two other tables that were seated. Unfortunately she must have had to prepare the meals as well because the woman behind the bar did absolutely nothing while we waited for refills and another round of drinks. We have driven by several times and decided to stop. I'm not sure if I have much to add that others haven't already said. We were impressed with the drink menu. I chose a cherry sour that was delightful! For dinner, I played it safe and had the fish sandwich, fries and slaw, The slaw was sweet, tangy, and tasty. Definitely not a GFS quality. Way better! The sandwich was very good. A big piece of fish with a nice crispy batter. The sauce was decent, and the cheese was understated, but paired well with the toppings. The fries were good. A garden variety frozen fry. I asked for vinegar and was brought a mellow malt that was delicious. All in all, the slaw and sandwich were good. A solid four stars. The fries were a disappointment from a Gaelic pub. I expected a house made chip, our crisp, not a frozen fry. Four stars for the food. Subtract one for the fries. But then add it back for the beautiful decor, great service, and great sour beer. read more

We have just recently visited several towns in the West of Ireland (Galway, Westport, Donegal). This pub is appropriate, from the wood work to the floors. I'm visiting from out of town, and have some food allergies. I read online that this spot had gluten free options. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten sensitivity and assured me they use a dedicated gluten free fryer. I had the Fish and chips (sans chips because I'm also allergic to potatoes.) I also had the GF lemon berry cheesecake. My brother had the Blackberry Mistress and devoured it. My son had the William Wallace and said it was amazing. Anyone in here should be able to tell it's an Irish bar. It certainly has an Irish theme going. There's crap all over the place. It has many advertisements for Guinness and Jameson. Those surely are the most popular on the menu. As for the food it's not great. One good thing is it's not all typical fried shit. Everything is very meat centric. There are not any vegetarian items. A unique item would be the lamb pops, because it's not often you can get that at a bar. The food seems to be frozen, so it's best to stick with a cocktail. It may be Lancaster's best Irish bar. I've celebrated birthdays and other important events there, stopped in for a quick lunch, met friends and family for after-work drinks, and have had the experience of dropping in for the odd breakfast when they have the option (mostly St. Patty's, if I recall). The point is, I've really kicked the tires on this place. Based on the whole of my experience the food is above average for Lancaster, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is unique. I've coming to O'Huids for 3 years. My experience has always been a positive one. My husband and I have lived in Europe for 2 years and the atmosphere reminds me of the pubs in Sassenhausen in Frankfurt, Germany. They had many Irish pubs in this entertainment area. Stopped in for the first time for a bite of lunch. We were delighted when they said our dog was welcome to join us on the front patio. They even brought Hoss a bowl of ice water at their own suggestion. That's worth an extra star for us. We started with an order of Potato Kegs. They are hearty shredded and loaded tots on steroids. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, they were quite tasty and came with a bucket of sour cream. There were five in the serving for $10. Pricey, but fair for what you got. The husband got the William Wallace with a side Colcannon. . He pulled some of the corned beef off the generously stuffed sandwich and added it to the lackluster colcannon for a burst of flavor, a big improvement. The saltiness of the corned beef added the much-needed seasoning to the side dish. The hubs was very pleased with himself and the result. I had the Cottage Pie sans the cabbage. The crock was full of savory beef on the bottom layer, topped with a mountain of homemade mashed potatoes, then encrusted in a generous layer of delightful cheese that had been sizzled ala French onion soup. It came with a munchkin-sized piece of Irish bread and a pat of real KerryGold butter, an authentic touch. We were too full for dessert, but I would like to come back and sample some of their offerings, mini cheesecakes, lemon lava cake, or a Bailey's brownie.- nice options for a change. So disappointing as we had high hopes when we went for a drink and dinner. We are going to give it another chance, in hopes that it was just an off night, but our first experience was mixed, mainly due to the extremely slow or lack of service. Went on a Friday night, however it wasn't busy at all. We were seated right away; however, it took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come over and take our drink order. After another 15 minutes went by, I had to remind her, we still hadn't got them. She said it's been a very chaotic day. We finally got our drink and ordered our food 45 minutes after we were seated. We ordered the fish and chips as well as the Cottage Pie for dinner. The food was very good, although the Cottage Pie didn't have a lot of meat and the portions for both meals were small, especially for the price. Waitress never checked on us and we had to flag her down to get the check. Since the food was very good, we are willing to give them another chance and hope that the service improves, and we'll give the benefit of the doubt that the waitress just had a bad day. read more
