My family wandered in here on a trip to Salem at lunch time, hungry, and with relatively low expectations. They were not met. One of the worst, most bland burgers I've ever had. I mean the patty hadn't even been salted, I think? The French fries were also salt-less mushy things. (mushroom and Swiss did nothing to help the burger. Also included chopped iceberg lettuce and tomato, but no dressing.) Terrible looking "chef salad" (a chef salad usually has boiled egg, cheese and meat... this was just mixed greens w balsamic dressing, unless you add chicken.) A lot of the stars for this restaurant come from the fact that the live band performing was INCREDIBLE! They played some excellent songs, and the singers were so talented. This provided lovely ambiance! I would also really recommend the fall themed martinis. However one of the hostesses was a bit unhygienic and that made me and my friends feel uncomfortable. The food also took a long time to come out. I understand that it was busy but it took nearly an hour and a half and we already waited a half an hour outside beforehand. Please try harder. Everything here was very mediocre and I was not impressed. This place definitely has potential. The space is a good size and their Halloween decor was cute. Their Bloody Mary was just horrible. It tasted as if I was drinking tomato paste. However, their seasonal pumpkin White Russian drink was made very well. As for food, we tried the fried pickles. The bartender with the Mohawk/fohawk on the night of 28 August 2023 was a complete douche to me and my wife. I tried to get his attention, and we made eye contact and then ignored me to serve someone else at the bar. The place was super loud, so in the most polite way possible, I elevated my voice for him to hear me. I said Sir, when you have a moment, could we please close out. He snapped and got an attitude with me. When I paid, I asked him about it, and he said yelling at him wouldn't solve anything, so I mentioned that I waived at him before, and he claimed he didn't see me. The whole experience was trash. Was trying to have a fun night with some friends, I am over 21 but I was not let into the bar because the bouncer could not see my birthday from the back of my ID with the flashlight. When she scanned it is said I was of age and she still did not let me in because she told me it looked fake. Which has never happened to me at any bar in the Boston area. Don't recommend. read more

I was there the second week of October 2021. We stopped for a quick beer and a snack. Californian girl here :)....we order the tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich and a vegetarian burger. I was served a raw hamburger and when I told one waiter he said "that sucks man" then went to the next table. I informed another waitress and she told me I ate too much of it to send it back (about half). which is why she didn't receive a tip on a $90 bill. I'm sorry I ordered a few drinks and didn't realize I was eating raw hamburger. I really appreciate the food poisoning the next morning and the rude wait staff. My daughter and I went here on a Wednesday during my recent Boston visit. Boy, am I sorry we decided to try this place. We were seated right away, but at a table that was situated right in front of the constantly opening door. In all fairness it was lunchtime, during Halloween season, so we expected most places to be packed. We put in our orders (shepherd's pie and a Cesar salad with chicken). Then we sat. And we sat. And we sat some more. All while the darn door opened and closed and the gust of chilly air blew on us. We had waited A FULL HOUR by this time. Since the lunchtime crowd was thinning out and tables were opening up, we asked the hostess if we could move to a nearby table that wasn't in the line of the door. Her response was a rude "no, I can't because that table is for four people." (We were seated at a table for three people) There was literally NO ONE waiting to be seated. There were several empty tables. We were about to leave because of the hostess's rude response but someone (not our original server) finally showed up with our food. We agreed to stay and eat, but to be honest the food wasn't all that great. Ten dollars for a plate of soggy lettuce with a couple of slivers of chicken? No thank you. I definitely would not recommend this place, nor would I ever eat here again. read more

We ended up there for dinner one night after a long day of shopping and touring. We sat down at about 8:41pm and waited about 10 minutes before a server came up to us. We ordered water and an alcoholic beverage while we looked over the menu. When the drinks came we ordered a cup of Guinness stew and a bowl of clam chowder. The table that sat next to us about five minutes after us received their drinks and soups in a timely fashion where as 30 minutes later and asking the server of the other table next to us twice where our soup was, we still did not have our soup. The table next to us then got their main course while we were still waiting for our soup. Mind you we didn't even get to order our entrees yet bc no one came back over after we placed an order for the soups. An hour goes by and for the third time I asked the server of the other table where our soup was and for the third tile he responded with "I'm sorry the tickets are backed up. We're very busy" and walked away. The table next to us finished their meal and paid and we still did not receive our soup. Finally the original server who got us our drinks came over and asked if she could get us anything else. We told her that we were still waiting for our soups and she panicked. We finally got our soups after an hour and 5 minutes of waiting and asking. I've been in the restaurant business for 12 years. I'm currently and have been a restaurant manager for the past 4 years. So many things were done wrong and could have been prevented and fixed but no one acknowledged the problem that took place. The soups should have been taken off the bill, an apology from both servers and the manager (if there even is one) should have been presented, and all in all the servers should have been more aware of their tables or sections or whatever they have going on. Not sure if they pool tips or what the case may be, but the server of the other table acted like he didn't want to help us out because we weren't his table and he didn't want to deal with a table that he wasn't getting tipped from. That is a problem and to have a server like that work for a business is unacceptable. A good server would have stepped in and acknowledged that abandoned table. A great server would have took control of the situation and even though it wasn't their table, knowing that the original server forgot about them and hasn't been back, a great server would have taken them like their own table. We will give it another try if we go back to Salem in the future. read more

My girlfriends and I stopped here around 7:30 pm for a few drinks, I had an empty beer can from a tour we had just done and attempted to throw it out AFTER ordering and paying AND tipping for a first round of drinks from the bar already, we were literally waiting for the bartender to come and take our order for a second round of drinks when a male bartender approached me and began verbally attacking me "we don't sell that beer here so you get the FUCK OUT" I immediately apologized sincerely and tried to explain but he would not allow me to get a single word out instead he just continued to verbally attack me repeating "GET THE FUCK OUT" it was completely mortifying, I can't believe an establishment approves of male staff attacking their woman patrons this way. Not to mention we were in the middle of a conversation with another elderly female patron and it completely scared her. There are other ways to handle these situation, you don't need to immediately begin cursing and screaming. I would not feel safe in this establishment, especially being that I was completely non confrontational and still was continuously screamed out with curse words. read more

I saw through a Facebook ad that my favorite Irish Pub had lobster rolls...that made me a happy lady! It was super fresh, overstuffed, with just a little bit of mayo and diced celery in a buttered grilled bun. It came with chips and coleslaw, and the slaw was fresh and crispy. I got a side of sweet potato fries, because they are a favorite and no one seems to make them anymore. They were cooked all the way through and delicious. My husband got a burger. It was huge and cooked perfect (medium). That came with a choice of two sides. He got a side salad (huge portion) and thick cut onion rings, yum! My little one got chicken fingers. 3 large tenders to an order and steak fries, very yummy. Our server Maeve was cute and attentive. Our Bartender Mary made the experience authentic. We waited a long time for our chowder, we could hear the cook ringing the bell over and over and I told Mark I bet that's our chowder sitting back there all that time. I think I was right, the chowder arrived barely warm right before our food and truthfully it didn't matter it was not edible. Almost immediately after being handed our chowder our food arrived, the waitress apologized for them arriving so close together. I ordered Chicken Cesar Salad. It was so so, kind of tasteless...I think they forgot the cheese. Mark ordered a meal from the large portion of the menu (good thing!) he only had 4 sirloin tips on his plate! His garden veggies were over cooked and mushy, steak fries were good and so were the tips. The waitress never inquired about the chowders neither of us I ate. Yeah.... I think I'm all set with this place. Let's just start this off by saying I won't be back and I would not recommend it either. Food: The prices are fairly cheap but it also goes hand in hand with the food being awful. I got the loaded nachos for 9$ and now that I look at the picture and compare it to other nachos I've had...it's just bad. Is it just me or do the nachos look like the ones they give you at the movie theatre? Even there they might not be as stale. We also got honey BBQ wings and steak fries, I thought you could never go wrong with honey BBQ wings anywhere but I guess I was wrong. I didn't even bother taking a picture of the fries because they were bland and dry, we barely touched those. The fries also come with curry sauce-well it doesn't come with it because the waitress failed to mention it is an additional 2$ but just add that on in the order, no problem. I can't recall what cocktail my friend ordered but she drank one sip of it and had it taken back because it tasted like straight up fireball. Not that the drink itself was strong, it was simply the taste of cinnamon that was overpowering the drink. All I know is the description of the drink had no mention of cinnamon so I'm not really sure where that came from. Service: Our waiter was not attentive at all. She didn't come to give us refills, she would disappear when we needed her and I even had to go up and find her because she wasn't coming around to take our check. I even had to ask her about the additional 2$ for the side of curry that we didn't even touch because like I said no mention of extra cost. Then we split the check and she had our cards for way too long, red flag right there. The only thing she did right was taking the drink and curry off the bill, I wish we would have taken back the fries too. Honestly, I felt so bad having to tell the girl to take things back but it was really because the food was that bad. I don't think I've ever had food taken back ever, especially when I'm ordering some of my favorite types of food...but lesson learned- cheap food doesn't necessarily mean it's great food. read more

I stopped here with a couple friends to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel. It was maybe 7:30 once we sat and it was busy but nothing too crazy. The wait time was only 10 minutes. Sadly they were out of the calamari and the lobster roll which were the the reasons we decided to stop in. We decided to instead get an order of the pork sliders, the crab roll, and the fish and chips. Of all three items we decided hands down that the pork sliders was the winner. For the fish and chips, the batter on the fish was a little too greasy and the crab roll tasted mainly of mayo. Our waitress was nice but absent most of the time. Not to mention she only let us know that they were out of the calamari once we placed the order and waited for a few minutes, and then once again once we ordered the lobster roll. Not sure if it was that there was no communication between the kitchen and the server or she just didn't remember to let us know once we place the order? But it was a little aggravating since we were starving and had waited at this point for quite a while. We wanted to grab extra tartar sauce and lemon but she never came back around. Like I said before it was busy but nothing crazy. We did notice but there weren't many servers on the floor so that could have also been why she didn't come around to check up on us. This was on a Saturday night and there was live music which was nice and they advertised a DJ. I'm sure it got packed. Drinks were cheap which was cool especially for the area that we were in.
