We recently rented Pavilion A at Oak Canyon Community Park for our daughter's 4th birthday splash party, specifically because of its proximity to the splash pad. The park itself is beautiful and clean, which is why we felt confident booking it for such an important celebration. Unfortunately, shortly after our event began, the splash pad stopped working and remained off for the duration of our rental. This was the main activity for approximately 20 children in attendance. While a park ranger attempted to assist, there was ultimately no resolution. What was especially disappointing was the lack of urgency and care from park staff. There was no real apology or effort to make the situation right. We had to go through hoops just to get someone on the phone, which was frustrating in the middle of hosting a children's party. If pavilions are being rented out for private events, you would expect someone to be readily available to assist renters when issues arise. Additionally, we were told at booking that Pavilion B was already reserved and that inflatables were only permitted in that space. However, Pavilion B remained empty the entire time. Had we known, we would have booked that pavilion or adjusted our plans to include a bounce house to make up for the loss of the splash pad. While the park grounds are well maintained, the lack of communication, unavailable amenity, and absence of real-time support made what should have been a joyful day unnecessarily stressful. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have a similar experience. read more

I went for a hike/walk here, and it offers great views of the small lake. The park is flat and has wide walkways. It's about 1.5 miles round trip. Check out the ducks and turtles all over the lake. Years ago I visited this park. It rained back then and the pond was full and ducks were swimming, folks were picnicking, children were running around laughing. Fast forward to this day. With climate change we no longer have the usual rain, the once full pond is slowly drying up. Ducks were clustered in the area with the most water and despite the ponds low water level, I was lucky to witness an egret gobble up a little fish. The picnic tables are older now and on a this weekday morning,my friend and I had the place to ourselves. Lucky me, I thought. The trails are gorgeous this time of year. There are many trails to explore in this park. There's a lot going on here, even a fenced dog park with a side for large dogs and another for the smaller ones. While I was there, I noticed only one dog chasing a ball. Lucky dog, had the place to herself. There are several parking areas as well as a play area for kids. Can't wait to return and explore a little more! read more

5 stars for the splash pad , 1 star for the playground. SPLASH PAD: super fun activity for kids, lots of room and fun things to run around in. It's free! It's clean and the water is treated. I felt safe with my kids there. Perfect summer activity! PLAYGROUND: Uh. Where do I start? First, DO NOT PUT YOUR BABY IN THE SWINGS! I witnessed a poor baby fall backwards and hit his head because the baby swing fell apart while the child was on it. The child was not being erratic and the mom was just pushing him normally. The metal part on one side of the swing completely came apart. I smell a lawsuit. Also- who has metal slides anymore?! Oh they do! And on a 90 degree day, your child WILL get a second degree burn. Lastly, they have wood to patch up holes in the top of the structure. This playground needs a makeover badly. read more

The play equipment is old and needs replacing. It has a metal slide and burns kids on hot days. There is zero shade over the play structures. The splash pad gets very busy on summer days between 9 - 2pm. Parking is impossible then. After that time it is virtually empty. But that is also typically when it cools down and breezes make it chilly for the water features. Bees are in the grass in spring and summer! Look closely at the tiny flowers that bud in the grass and attract bees. Wear shoes on the grass or you may get stung. read more

This review is for the playgrounds and splash pad and surrounding areas. The first playground you see from the parking lot is the newer one. It has four slides, a xylophone, some drums, a strapped in swing and a swing you put the child in one end and the adult sits on the other end like a see saw. There are a lot of hands on toys in the equipment and things to jump on. The older playground, a walk down a ramp or some stairs, has a long twisting slide and some monkey bars. I love all the trees and how big this park is there's even a pond with ducks and turtles to walk around and a giant hill my 2 year old and his friend loved to climb and roll down. 10/10 will come again. read more

My review yes is based on the area of where the concert was in the park.Very nice clean slopes and a lot of hills and most of all the grass was green.At first kinda hard to find this venue.The signs that are posted on Kanan Rd are facing south bound and your traveling north bound to the venue.Hello. Anyways what a great event.The concert was a tribute to Queen.If your a fan a Queen you would have enjoyed this concert.Yes of course the lead guitar player mike,is a friend of mine.They will be playing in Woodland Hills,August 16. The park was very clean and most of all the area was set up for this concert.The staff did a great job in accounting all the guests to attend this venue.A special thanks to the Park Rangers also for providing their service during this venue.The restrooms where also clean and very well maintained.They also brought in additional trash cans. I remember having so much fun in this park when I was younger! The duck pond is pretty awesome, filled with grumpy ducks and that one really aggressive family of geese - they sell duck feed at the community center up the hill for very cheap and they will eat it out of your hand. The park goes on forever - there are trails going to the back and into the neighborhoods behind the park. There are at least three playgrounds, including a water park, a large gazebo picnic area and a small stage. Lots of families with dogs on the park, and it's also a good place to find a hiking trail, since a few go through the park. Be wary of rattlesnakes and coyotes - we've definitely seen a few in the area. read more

I go running a lot in the Oak Park area during the summer and decided to run here once and ever since then, I go here almost everyday. In the entrance, there's a wide path on the right side to use which is great so you don't have to share the road with oncoming vehicles. The scenery is very nice and is a great place to go if you're looking for a new adventure in the area. There's also a water park, playground, huge open grass field, dog park, and a bike trial. This park seems to have everything you need to have to enjoy a nice summer day. read more

This is one of the best parks in the area. The dog park in the back area is one of the best. Its spacious and your dogs will appreciate you with a yap and a smile. The amount of trails in the area will give you a great work out with some great scenery which your eyes will appreciate. If your going there for a hike, walk the dogs, or toss the ball around with the family, or a simple barbecue, this a a great spot to enjoy. read more

My review is for the camp selections available. My 5 year old has done two camps there this summer and cannot stop talking about them. The two camps she has taken so far were from 9-12pm and have cost $100 plus a material fee of $20-25 dollars for the week. It's so reasonable and the class curriculums have been very thorough. There is a true curriculum out in place daily, which I appreciate. It's not a dump your kids and they run around for 3 hours kind of camp. She absolutely loved the CUTE & CUDDLY CAMP where she was taught about different animals and then able to touch an actual animal at the end of the class each day. She also took the Imagination Dance Camp with Ms. Bron. While my daughter was definitely pleased with the camp and enjoyed the crafts and dance routine they learned to a song from the Trolls soundtrack during the week. Super cute and adorable. It's also great that you can purchase duck food for a quarter and go down to the pond. My only complaint about that is that you can't take a stroller all the way to the bottom without taking a long ramp that is pretty out of the way. But that is a minimal problem. read more

This is the best park in the area- There's a dog park tucked away in the back and you can get there going down this nice shady trail or just park in the back parking lot and head straight against the Mountain. The trail is 1 mile long through a woodsy area as it has a small creek that flows from the lake and it's a wide path majority of it. There is also The Water Splash pad at the tail end of this park, lots of fun until all the little toddlers take over than I have to pretend like I don't want to be in it. All of these things in this park is separated by trees and brush so you have to get in there and walk around to find the play areas with slides for the kids, the duck pond is located at the busy street entrance if you park there you can walk around this duck pond and hit the trail along the back and it will take you to the dog park up against the mountain or gear off to the right and the trail keeps going until it dead ends in a residential area. It's a short trail but perfect place to bring the kids because there's just lots for them to see and do. Good jogging area too, it's a flat trail all the way. The park isn't that big everything is in close proximity it's all the trees and brush that makes things hidden in it. There are Snakes in this area and signs are posted about it, so keep an eye out. read more

It was a rainy weekend here in SoCal, and my hyperactive lab/border collie puppy needed to stretch her legs a bit. We stumbled upon Oak Canyon Park on this morning's walk. There's a cute little duck pond you can walk around (closed today because of muddy conditions), but our favorite part was the paved bike path that extends through the park, out to a public recreation trail. There's also a playground and picnic area, all nicely maintained if that's your thing. Given how muddy everything else was, this paved trail was perfect! We got to walk surrounded by mother nature without getting our paws dirty. We saw a few other doggies taking a stroll, and even a group of moms doing a boot camp-style workout with their strollers. Next time someone wants me to go on a bike ride and I'm not feeling up to doing real mountain biking, I'll suggest this place. There also seems to be a hiking trail down by a creek. read more

This is a really great place to take kids on a hot day. The splash pad is really great, always lots of fun and the kids, for the most part are always well behaved. I also like that this park is set way back from the street and that it is always clean, with bathrooms that's aren't scary at all. read more

A very nice park tucked away from Kanan rd. I saw a coyote walking around as I pulled in. Nice water park, playground and picnic table shelter. Plenty of shade and green grass. I didn't have time to explore it too much but had a quick lunch there and thought it was a very nice park. read more
