Obviously older theater, but has great movie posters for decor and reasonable prices. You can hear other movies in yours but it doesnt detract from the film youre watching because everything is so loud. The seats arent as comfortable, but the price makes up for everything else. Quick and efficient staffing makes for easy check in and purchasing. Popcorn is a bit stale. read more

Great value cinema for $6 per ticket before 6pm, then it's $8 afterwards. The snacks are also all sold at decent prices. Small, older, with an 80s charm to it. The run of films are all the same blockbusters as the modern cinemas including exclusive viewings like Netflix's Knives Out 3 and eclectic A24 films. The seating is pretty standard, but they also offer free cushions/pillows near the front if you that's what you desire. We were in theater 3 and I believe it's their largest room. Took my 5 yr old daughter to see the new Toy Story 5 for her birthday. We went the day before anyone else had it playing. Far pricing compared to other theaters. Very sweet workers , gave my daughter a free candy too because it was her birthday. read more

My college student daughter occasionally takes her younger cousins there and the staff is really kind and warm with them all. This is our go-to cinema as of a few weeks ago. Last few times we visited, everyone was really kind. Prices are extremely reasonable, so I no longer dread being out 125 bucks when taking the fam and only getting a couple sodas and snacks. Now I feel like we can just hit the movies on the fly, whenever we want. Like it used to be years ago before movies and concession stands got comically expensive. Sure, its a modest and smaller theater that lacks all the bells and whistles. But who cares? Place is super clean, friendly, screens are sharp, and sound is great. A basic, reasonably priced cinema that has lots of movies, and is convenient for folks nearby.

One of my earliest childhood memories was seeing Star Wars on the big screen with my parents. And while I'm not the biggest fan in the universe (I've always been partial to Star Trek), the experience of sitting in a movie theater as a child and just being overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of that type of blockbuster still resonates with me. Through the years there have been more films that have hit me this way and although home media systems have improved by leaps and bounds, there really is something to be said about seeing certain kinds of movies on the big screen. It is a reminder that I should skip Netflix and Redbox and take my kids to the movies more often but sometimes the prices seem prohibitive. In the burbs, Regal Cinema dominates and the current ticket prices are roughly $10 for adults and $7.50 for children. Bridgeport charges a premium, but Wilsonville and Sherwood aren't too far behind. So although it isn't the fanciest place in the land, in the past year we've started going to Oak Grove 8 for first run movies. The best part is that tickets are $5 before 6:00p. Please note this theater is CASH ONLY. The fact that there is never a line or parking hassles and concession prices are reasonable add to our enjoyment. Before your movie begins, you won't be entertained with an endless loop of movie trivia and ads for Pepsi, but instead you'll see local ads for places like Bob's Red Mill ($2 off your meal with your movie stub). My kids also want me rent out one of their theaters for a birthday party so they can play X-BOX on the big screen. This is really a back to basics movie experience and I kind of like it. Not the best spot to see an epic show, but you can still enjoy a little movie magic and not feel gouged in this theater. read more

I got to get this cinema credit, for what it is you get an exceptional value for your dollar. At one point clouded to be a nicer Cinema in the area but it's not been modernized to keep up with the times. It's really a second run quality theater in terms of seats, projector and such but it shows first run movies. Where else are you going to see your first run movie for five bucks? There's only one other quality one in town that I know of, and they have a limited two screens I believe. This one has like 8. They have my business every new release weekend with the exception of the big special-effects driven movies that I might want to see in 3-D or an HD. read more

But is it pretty clean and probably the cheapest place you can go in the area for a movie and snacks? Yes, yes it is. Horrible. The system is one person on concessions and one doing tickets and concessions. So the line was super long 17 minutes for me to get to the front of the line. I had gotten there 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time but just as I'm next to purchase my ticket a lady come out of the theater to say the movie is well under way (it should have been 2 minutes into the previews). Apparently someone had started the movie 15 minutes early. Super annoyed that I spent 20 minutes standing around due to an inefficient system compounded by a screwup, as it's not like the first 15-20 minutes of the movie is important or anything. Cheap, fun, super nice people here. I loooove this cinema. It has a feel and smell just like when I was a kid.

There are only three reasons to go here: 1) you enjoy the smell of a theater that hasn't REALLY been cleaned in years. 2) You love horrible service by snarky teens behind the snack bar. 3) The movie is sold out elsewhere. If you've got no other option, plan to skip the snack counter, and don't sub-par presentation, this place will do in a bind. I really like this cinema, it has an old fashioned cinema feel to it, with fun movie posters both new and old all over. It's not a big Cinema like some of them, but it's a nice place, and it seemed to me that the surround sound was better here. The individual theaters are a bit smaller than they are at Regal or Clackamas, but the seats are still comfortable enough that you dont care. Besides, I dont necessarily think bigger is always better. A nice small theater can be much better for a date night, or for a small group of friends. Their hot dogs aren't quite as good as the ones at Clackamas or the Regal theaters. The basically taste like a pack of jumbo Frank's from the store, and not like what I'm used to at a cinema. However, I'm willing to cut them some slack because when I was there they had run put of hot dogs, and when I said, "oh darn, i was looking forward to a hot dog" the girl at the counter was so gracious and offered to microwave a hot dog for Sheryle and I. So, even though they weren't the best movie theater hot dogs I've ever had, they were good, and more importantly, I was very impressed with their customer service. I highly recommend this movie theater for a date spot, gathering place for friends, something to do on a day off, for any reason. By the way, the movie I saw was Venom, and I loved it! read more

Meh. It's a movie theatre. They show current movies. They're kind to their employees 'cause when it's 105 outside it's 120 in that little booth that the sun hits directly so inside you pay - cash or card. Nifty. I really liked how friendly the gal at the concession stand treated me and even upsold me a tub of popcorn. Sneaky but effective. Expecting to pay for a bottle of water she gave me a glass for free - very nice. The seats are kinda small for a long-legged guy like me but considering the heat wave outside the A/C was soothing and I forgot about my leg cramps. Yup. I like this theater. Good parking. I legitimately liked this theater. When we went to a feature there, it's clean and basic. But, I like supporting locally-owned businesses and Portland is lucky, cinemas like this make it easy. Restrooms were at the far end of the theater corridor and our feature was at the other end. Two auditoriums are in the lobby so those must be quite small. The cinema we were in was average sized, clean and had comfortable seating. One thing to note, the auditoriums are laid out in the classic style with a sloped seating area, but not stadium / tiered seating like most of the new multiplex auditoriums. Viewing the screen wasn't an issue and I only heard the movie next door during the previews. This business is cash only and they have an ATM in the lobby in case you are without funds. Evening shows are currently $7 and matinees $5 for adults. Concessions were $5 or less, unlike most larger chain cinemas. read more

First choice for first runs. Sometimes I get stuck going to a Regal or Cinetopia type of theater when I'm travelling on business. I generally get a popcorn and a soda. At the Oak Grove I can get 2 matinee tickets and enough popcorn and soft drinks for 2 people for $20. In the real (corporate) movie world, I'm usually out $30+ for the same thing for just myself. If you show up expecting a brand new state of the art cinema, yes, you will be disappointed. The seats are old, the floors have the old school slant instead of stadium seating, and they have Pepsi instead of Coke. The horror. If you want to see first-run movies at a fantastic price, enjoy good affordable classic concessions like nachos and popcorn, and support a locally owned theater, this is your place. Once you go here a few times it's easy to remember you need cash which is a huge part of why they have such great prices and not a bad trade off. Knock it all you want but acting like they ran your dog over because they have an ATM makes you a fucking tool. It's a little rundown, but the GM keeps it clean, is friendly, and is doing his part to keep the chains from completely taking over. Which is a bigger deal than most people realize. I think the negative reviewers are from the Pearl. It's the best theater near Sellwood and the price is right at $7. They never have crowds so you always get a great seat, and the staff are always nice to us. It's not a fancy place, granted, but clean and hands-free flushing toilets. Yes, there are teens in some of the movies, but I've never had a problem with them. Overall, despite it's strip mall location, I like it. Reminds me of the way movie theaters used to be. And the sound is good, although sometimes too loud. Anyway, give it a go. You'll like it. Oh- Lake Oswego, listen up- and they have parking which is nice. Parking. Worst movie experience-period Have never left a movie before and I'm 44. Group of crappy, loud , young people came in after movie started making derogatory comments and when we ignored them they threw candy and hit us in the back of the head. I went to manager to have them removed from the theater and they were allowed to stay. We left /no movie- not EVER GOING BACK. Pretty sure it was a gay thing as I was there with my same sex partner ,but whatever -this place is undesirable in every way bummer night. read more

A good place to see an anticipated big movie when you have a low budget. The outrageously fun carpet and decor is from the 80's, there are only a few theaters and the seats slowly grade down towards the screen (so not really stadium seating). However, this mom & pop theater still has good movie quality, the theater rooms were large with plenty of space to move around if someone sits in front of you, the refreshments taste just like anywhere else and at $7 for a ticket on a opening night to see Dr. Strange, I really can't complain. Went to the front, nobody at the front ticket counter, walked in and some lady was at the concession stand and walked up to her and ordered two tickets. Said it was $14 dollars for two people, we were going to pull our debt card out and she said "Oh no we don't accept that, only cash here" I guess they need to put it some where that cash is only accepted here. She pointed at the ATM and said "You can get cash at the ATM there" said no thanks and walked out of the theater. Horrible! I don't usually write 5 star ratings for movie theaters but this one really deserves it! We came to see a movie last night at 7:20. We got our large popcorn and Pepsi as well as some sour patch kids. The price alone for all these snacks deserves the 5 stars! I mean we all know how broke movie theater snacks make you right? Or maybe it's just me. The popcorn was extra buttery and delicious. The theater we sat in wasn't too big so we were pretty close up to the screen which made you feel like you were in the movie. Comfortable seats too! The staff was very kind throughout our whole experience. We will be back for sure! read more

May be a little dated and worn but you cannot beat the prices on a first run movie. I like going here for the savings but also because I like to support the smaller theaters. Since this is the only one in the area, I really want them to stay too! You will save money on the tickets and the snacks but come with cash as they do not accept cards. You get what you pay for is an understatement. As long as I'm paying anything, there should be some level of expectation. I haven't been here since Nutty Professor 2 was in theaters. Needless to say, it's been a while and I was a mindless teenager then who probably didn't care that the staff nay have been ruder than snot or that the seats lacked any real butt-cushion. Went and saw Planes today with the kids at 2:45 and was vastly disappointed. I didn't have high expectations coming here, knowing it was a value theater but I was a little taken a back that they didn't except debit or credit cards. The "manager" had worse customer service than the other teenagers working (as I doubt she was much older than 20). She was snide to say the least. The popcorn was stale. The chips were stale. The bathrooms looked as though they hadn't been touched in a few days. Considering theaters first showings are usually around 11:30 or noon, stale popcorn in a matter of a couple hours seems unlikely to me. From the day prior? Probably so. If you're not getting food, go for it. It's a cheap alternative. I paid $40 for 4 tickets, popcorn, drinks, nachos and candy. If you don't mind stale food, flat soda, and terrible service - this place is a gold mine. read more

It was a little warm inside, and there's a smell that I can't explain, but not too strong. The seats are fine and comfortable enough. The matinee are super cheap, $5 only. The large popcorn and soda is also cheap. Overall, this movie theater is not bad at all. I recommend it, and I will come back again many times. lol! read more

I've been going to this theatre since I was a young teenager , I remember when they first built it back in the 90s . I'm thirty years old now and it still stands the test of time!! The prices are good way better then the overcrowded expensive ass Mall theatre. It's not like there is holes in the damn roof or anything it's just a little local business that has done a good job staying in business Bring cash I'm old school that's how I roll anyway. Price is perfect, they take debit cards now too! Snacks are reasonably priced too. They rarely fill up to where you can't get a walk in seat. I highly recommend stopping here if you're in town and want to catch a movie. read more
