Christine Bowden's sermon on the scripture was very thoughtful, down to earth and applicable. The 11 AM worship is a Traditional service to include hymns with organ music. Two different type services with the same warm welcome and same thoughtful sermon. We enjoyed our visit and thank the congregation and staff for making us feel at home. We look forward to a return visit on our next vacation.

Answer: a different one every weekend. The place is always packed (mostly older people). Even if you show up 5-10 minutes early it still might be a struggle to find a seat. They've had some very nice visiting priests recently that give good homilies. I'm a visitor but a pretty consistent one, so I've been here a lot but it's not like I've been part of the parish for years. Everything related to logistics is a mess. The parking situation in the back will make you need to go to confession. If you're able to walk or ride a bike that's the best option. I already mentioned the very strange communion patterns but I hope someone reads this review and thinks about adding some consistency.

I appreciated the fact that Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday. Being in an Anglican Church is a new experience for me and I like it. Holy Trinity is a Cathedral because we have a Bishop in residence, he is Suffragan Bishop Richard Lipka, Bishop in the Missionary Diocese of All Saints of which Holy trinity is a Parish.

This parish is comprised of two churches…read more 1. The older St. Mary Star of the Sea which dates back to 1877. 2. The "newer" Holy Savior which opened in 1954 but was renovated to its current look in '67-'68. Below is a great site that has the entire history of how both churches came into existence: www.ocmuseum.org/index.php/site/oc-history_article/saint_mary_star_of_the_sea I would have liked to have seen the inside of St. Mary but with only one mass a week offered there at the barbaric hour of Sunday at 7am I knew that wasn't happened so we settled for the 8:30 at Holy Savior. Nice inside with large portraits of various saints on the walls and the all piano/no organ mass was nice as I'll take anything musically that is remotely different. Speaking of different, the layout of the altar area is unusual where lector is on one side, the priest sits on the other side by another lectern, the altar servers sit a good distance back from the priest near another lectern which the cantor uses and the tabernacle is a good hike all the way at the rear of the church. Also a neat twist is that Father Stan uses a wireless throughout the mass so that during the homily he is mobile to walk/stalk/pace. His homily was fairly lengthy but was also interesting about family even though the children blacked out after a while. Hopefully on our next visit there is a more convenient mass time at St. Mary or hopefully I can blast myself out of bed pre-7am but either we'll be back here next time we're in town.

This is a non-denominational church that is in the midst of transition- hence four stars instead of…read morefive. The church is relocating to decrease their overhead. The vision and mission are focused on outreach- more specifically, loving others as yourself and loving God with your all. It is a small multi-cultural church (not just pictures of blacks, whites and Asians) on a website that is super-friendly and welcoming to all- this church will definitely grow. Although I am from a Baptist background, I can appreciate the sound doctrinal preaching and the presence of the Holy Spirit. You will definitely need your Bible! The worship experience is honest and not overwhelming- you are free to be yourself. I highly recommend visiting- I think you'll be back!
