Fortunately, my worries were completely unfounded. I came in at lunch, and chatted with the staff for a bit. They all seemed intelligent, compassionate, and helpful - they knew my grandmother (who was also visiting), greeted her by name, and were happy to see her. We went through the access-controlled door, and the residents seemed happy. The center was carpeted, there were plenty of seats people were sitting on, reading, talking with friends, etc. My grandfather was far more well-kempt than he ever was at home, and seemed in good spirits. I also loved that outside of every room, there were shadowboxes of information and memorabilia about each resident. It helps humanize each resident, even if they have advanced dementia, and I appreciated that. The staff and visitors should never forget that they're caring for engineers, doctors, soldiers, teachers, etc. Yelp's rating system says that 5 starts is "as good as it gets." I don't know if that's true here, because I don't have the experience necessary to compare. However, if you're looking for a memory care center for a loved one, be sure to check out Riverside.

He was rushed to the hospital from there and no one told us. He passed out cause he was supposed to be on oxygen 24/7 & he was not. They wouldn't even give him cold ice water at one point. Although she rarely -- if ever -- uses the advertised amenities (free breakfast, transportation, classes/programs), her rent continues to rise and management has not offered any meaningful flexibility or alternative pricing despite being aware of her financial situation. This lack of consideration for residents on set incomes feels insensitive and places unnecessary stress on families trying to plan and budget. I hope Discovery Village will reconsider how amenity-based charges are applied and work more compassionately with long-term residents and their families to find fair solutions.

The business manager, Arika Healy, is not a nice person, and she was unresponsive in assisting me with issues I had. Several unpleasant things happened to my 93 yr old mother while she was a resident there for a little over a year. Theft of personal items from a housekeeper was allowed to continue for several residents after management had been advised. There was a sex ring among several residents that management shielded from scrutiny and made several female residents very uncomfortable. The perpetrator of the illicit activity was personally shielded by Arika Healy, and residents who complained were ignored and villified. It was not a good situation. The staff turnover was excessive, and several good staff members quit their jobs when my mother was a resident. Prospective residents and their families need to understand that if a resident passes away, they or their estate will automatically be charged an extra month's rent for not giving a 30-day written notice. Apparently with the Sonida Senior Living company which owns The Wellington, a dead resident is expected to a give 30-day notice upon moving out. I would never recommend this senior community to anyone looking for a safe, nice place for a family member, and I truly regret that my elderly mother's last days were spent at this facility.

I brought my husband in November 12 at 1pm with hospice . He was ambulatory. He passed away at 10:10 pm the next evening on the 13th. My sister came down and we had everything removed from his apt.by 1 the next afternoon. At the most we were there 48 hours. I called the following day and asked if we would receive a refund they replied ,after dodging my calls for several days, that I should have read their contract. Again I was rushed through that entire process. Today they mailed me a check for $414.17. This is not a good honest Christian home , do not send your loved ones there. So here is my mom in a second panic attack, feeling distressed. I mean where is she going to go if she is already there with a one year lease right. If we would not have been there, we are talking of a Saturday night they would have locked her out. It even an apology was given due to all the circumstances, that were honestly out of my mom's control. Imagine all this experience the first day you are moving to a new place, considering how a moving experience is already stressful and this people threaten my mom 2 times in one day. The office personnel, Kristen and Elsa the manager do not know how to treat elderly and they are using mean and scare tactics to manipulate them and make them feel awful and stressed. Be aware of this place, we can predict a very bad treatment to renters and very bad customer service. On top of all this they had originally draw her in offering 3 months rent free, which they then didn't honor. I give one star because at least the apartments are brand new, so hopefully not many maintenance issues will come up.

The dining room is OK, and the food is decent. You can even find good administrative staff to help you during your stay. The problem starts when your loved one needs assistance. The caregiver team is comprised of incompetent personnel with zero empathy. They have no idea how to treat older people. I don't know what the internal problem is, but the result is clear: your loved one will NOT receive the care they need and deserve. Countless times we approached management and were left with the impression that they were going to do something to improve the situation. They never did. We paid extra to increase the level of care to match his condition, but care didn't improve. Basic care, like hygiene, went undone. More than once they forgot to take him to the dining room to eat. They would handle him, as he would say: "like a bag of potatoes." That was my experience with Legend: stressful, upsetting and sad.
