There are 20 or 30 varieties of cakes to choose from, which made it extremely difficult, especially as each is only 80 or 90p. The amazing array of delicacies included orange roll, honey and mango cake, triangular chocolate cake, seed buns and many others. I settled on a chestnut bun, giant, and 90p. Before me in the queue were two young girls who had bought 4 boxes of cakes, and the seating area was fairly busy too. I got the feeling that the lady behind the counter couldn't speak English, but she was very nice and smiley anyway. The bun was sweet and soft. The chestnutty filling was mild and not overpowering. And I will definitely be back here again to try more!

I will make sure to put up photos soon but today was a soft open with limited choice and they were still building the display cases. Food: Assorted Chinese buns such as red bean buns, bbq pork buns, Katsu chicken buns, hot dog buns, and many more. There are also pastries such as coconut tarts, egg tarts, pineapple and coconut buns, small cakes, and even made to order round cakes. While I have never had it, they do serve coffee and have a gorgeous new cafe/seating area. Highly recommend this place the food is good, the prices are good (~1.6£ per bun), and the atmosphere is fun and fresh. Plus, while I enjoy a chippy as much as the next person, it is great to add a little variety into my diet ;)

It is like a Tesco Extra dedicated to Oriental Foods. Need it and you will find it. We used to go to Chun Wing at Dobbies Loan but this place puts it to shame. There are only two cities that have a See Woo, London and Glasgow. Mainly staffed by Chinese and Poles, they can generally point in the right direction if you know what you want. The selection is impressive. Dry goods, frozen, seafood, noodles and spices, you will not find anything that matches this place till you hit London. Just go and wander, if nothing else to find out what things people will eat and insist on being imported for their consumption. Durian fruit or Shrimp Chips - everything is a gastronomic adventure. Think of it as a chance to experience something completely new and you just have to wander a little bit past the M8.

The supermarket is nothing fancy - bare concrete floors and a slightly odd layout can be confusing (I always worry I've missed something amazing). Over the past few visits we've managed to get some really good stuff though - they stock kewpie (delicious Japanese mayonnaise), cheap steaming baskets for cooking at home, frozen dumplings when you need a lazy dinner as well as a huge range of cheap herbs and spices. You'll never pay supermarket price again. I only wise they had more of a Japanese selection - but they do have a good mix of Asian food, as well as some European too. This is definitely a love-it or hate-it place, I can see that it might put some unadventurous people off, but if you like trying something different, have a look here and see what you can find!

This is a two aisle shop with a lot of stuff crammed in there and they have all the stuff you'd expect to see - sauces, noodles, tinned food as well as some fresh/frozen stuff in the fridge and freezer. This time I managed not to buy anything (well, we were going to dinner at Banana Leaf so I thought it was kind of pointless) but I definitely recommend popping in for a browse. The prices are very cheap and the staff are helpful if you need to find something in particular. They also have some very cute waving cats in the window.

Because I always go here after work and it closes early (i think it's opening hours reflect the surrounding office buildings), things start getting reduced at about 5 and I finish at 5 so always grab a bargain. I picked up half a swede, a small bag of new potatoes and a cauliflower all for the princely sum of 90p! They didn't have any vegan butter which I also planned to pick up but I will survive without it...for now. This place recently got self scanners which amuse me because as usual there was a man telling everyone to come use them but only 1 person on the actual checkout and a huge queue. Self scanners annoy me.

I was impressed by the selection in the store, with a good selection of cooked meats and dairy products including milk and cheese, tending to go beyond the usual Sainsbury's Local offering. The store is open daily until 10 pm, which is an hour earlier than most Sainsbury's Local stores in England from Monday to Saturday, as of course England is restricted by Sunday Trading laws. I wasn't a fan of the checkout area, it seemed too big and a little confusing, but the Sainsbury's Smartshop app is handy to skip the checkout as you simply scan items as you walk around the store, pay on your phone and head out. The staff weren't overly friendly or helpful, but still, it's probably the best place for groceries in Glasgow city centre in a prime central location within the city.

For a city supermarket this has everything you need for that pop-in shop on your way home from work. There's a decent bakery section, good fruit and veg, lots of easy-make dinner options and a good selection of booze for when you've had a particularly long day. Granted, Sainsbury's isn't the best value of the supermarket giants, but the bakery has discounts at the end of the day and it has a lot of its own-brand cereals, frozen foods and soups etc which are significantly cheaper than the big brand names. I usually pop in during the after work rush hour, but the long queues quickly disappear and you never have to wait very long for the self-service check-outs.

Generally these days, if I'm in the City Centre and my shopping list consists of much more than eggs, milk and bread, this is where I go. Their range is just that bit wider than that of their nearest neighbours and that makes all the difference. I don't want to have to visit four city centre supermarkets to find cornflower, for example, so I just start here. The other advantage of a slightly larger store is that they have more price point options than your average convenience store. It still won't be the cheapest possible shop, but for at least some items they'll have the "budget", the "regular" and the "luxury" options to choose from. They also have space to run just a few more promotions and, as they insist upon reminding us, every little helps.

Instead what greeted me was a deli which wouldn't look out of place in the swishest areas of the country. With vibrant, friendly and helpful staff, this place is a breath of fresh air for the town and offers some truly sumptuous deli treats, including a fantastic range of freshly made sandwiches. There is also a well presented seated area in which you can enjoy a meal. Indeed the two course lunch deal at 7.95 is astoundingly good value for money and comes highly recommended.
