I decided to order the 2-meat plate with Prime Brisket and Pork Spare Ribs to share with my friend. For sides, we chose the House Fries and Apple Cider Coleslaw. The meats were tender and perfectly seasoned. The sweet and tangy sauces complemented them well. However, the house fries were a bit inconsistent--some were crispy, while others were still soggy. The coleslaw was not really our cup of tea, as we were expecting a creamier consistency but got wet and sour cabbage instead. Service was outstanding, food was fabulous and we enjoyed our meal at a comfortable corner table with access to the bar in an environment that allowed for conversation and without interruptions. I ordered the Governor brisket sandwich with a side of brussel sprouts. Thank goodness for takeout containers - I was able to enjoy two meals from my leftovers. I enjoyed my time at Oak'd yesterday for dinner. All of the service I encountered was great and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I got the burnt ends (4.5/5), pork spare ribs (3.5/5), coleslaw (3/5), Mac and cheese (4/5), greens (2/5), apple pie (10/5!!!), and a cocktail (5/5). Everything was good except the greens. I wasn't a fan of those at all. On the other hand, the apple pie was exceptional. It was truly one of the best apple pies I've ever had. I seriously want to go back just to get the pie. Ambiance and restaurants is every new and great concept. Servers were also very nice. The food on the other hand was so disappointing. Not worth it all. The food was all cold when we're only ones there on Monday night. A lot the sides are pretty bland when it came to veggies. The wagyu brisket was so dry. The desserts were all in the open which isn't issue until I see all the flies flying over it. Then went to grab a fresh lemon by utensils. Kid you not 20 fruit flies sprang up when I tried to get one. Everything you have to grab yourself ordering food is own area, grabbing drinks, grabbing utensil, then throwing away and putting utensil in a bucket for them. I'm not sure where to start or what to say. This is an establishment started by a chef/operator with some investor capital. The ambiance in both locations is about what you'd expect in a 5'ish year old buildout (Dallas) and 3'ish remodel (Addison). The service in both locations is friendly and open to questions and back-and-forth chatter...both welcome attributes. Here's the rub ... I can't get my arms/tastebuds around the food. The desserts are to die for. The bourbon selections at the bar(s) are outstanding. However, and this is my opinion only, the rest of the selections have an expectation v price v flavor disconnect. We've dined 2-3 times at each location and have yet to be "floored" given the publicity and hype. We also attended 2 separate celebration/tasting functions at the Greenville location and literally felt like we were crashing someone else's private party as the cliques, investors, staff, etc. were all buddy-buddy and we were ignored like the ugly girl in the corner...despite sitting at a long table with a group of investors high-fiving each other rather than engaging other non-clique diners. SO...overall, again my opinion only, in the realm of relative newcomers to the Dallas BBQ scene...I can do better when the "cover charge" for 2 is $50+ ... (I dropped $40 for two to-go sandwiches on a Sat and the protein couldn't be chewed). BTW--dump that ciabatta bread/roll and go with something more traditional in the theme of a TX roadside BBQ shack. I encourage you to give it a try and form your own opinion. read more

Probably the best turkey breast I've ever had. I normally don't like turkey, but the smoked turkey here was so flavorful and tender and moist. We got three meat plat (ribs, turkey and brisket) the ribs were fall of the bones and the brisket was juicy. We also got smoked wings, it was pretty good. I really wish I could give a positive review about Oak'd BBQ. I can say that the people were very nice, very friendly and helpful. But sadly that is where it stops. When we walked into the serving line, the first thing I noticed was how unappealing their menu board was. It wasn't bold and colorful but drab and plain. And it was hard to see in places. Then I looked over where the meat was. My first thought was that it didn't look that good. I almost called my son over to have him look so we could walk right out the door, but I didn't. The meat was dry looking and had the appearance of not being freshly cooked. Now the meat that the server gave me was taken from a piece that looked better, but sadly it was dry and not very flavorful. All the sides and condiments looked old, and they weren't very tasty. Everything just looked like it had all been sitting out for quite a while. The dessert selection was quite extensive. But here is where they get you. Scan the QR code and you get a free cookie! But wait! I haven't even TASTED my food yet! Not fair. And the serving area looked like it could use a good cleaning! Great Texas BBQ here, you know I'll be coming back here again. Came here for some Texas barbecue and it certainly delivered. I ended up ordering a two-meat plate with the Wagyu brisket and half chicken along with two sides that were the mac & cheese and the seasonal veggies. Everything was delicious and I certainly enjoyed trying both of their signature barbecue sauces With my BBQ meats. What's also nice is that the sides do not overpower the meat and everything was very well balanced, and complemented each other. I am typically not a fan of brisket, but this waygu brisket certainly changed my mind, as it was savory and melted in your mouth, all along with a hint of the smoked-ness you can taste in the cooked meats, (which the smokey-goodness were never overwhelming). As for proportions, they do give quite a serving size, which I could barely even get through my entire meal. Also, some of my friends had ordered a baked potato here which was massive and looked delicious. I'm sure to try this the next time I come here. I did wish I had room for desserts because all baked looked delicious. I did like the rustic charm this spot has offering a chilled lay-back environment, which is great for large groups gathering or to watch a game here all while enjoying savory BBQ. This place has been open about 4 months. The open space is nice and large, and I'm looking forward to having dinner here when it freshens up. Love their happy hour menu and deals! Although I will add their BBQ is reasonable priced and expected in comparison to most. Their bartender did great handling the HH rush and made our cocktails to our liking. Not overly sweet and just the right amount of alcohol. One of the deals we took part in for food was the domestic draft and an appetizer for $10. Our selection was the smoked wings. The seasoning and the crispness of the skin was everything. They brought three sauces: Buffalo, bbq, and ranch, and all without asking. This is my kinda Happy Hour. Burnt ends? Somehow also bland. Not one meat had any depth or standout seasoning. For a place that prides itself on BBQ, the flavor profile was shockingly flat. Side dishes were no redemption either. What a dining experience today! The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. The layout is well designed. The wall posted menu is full of delicious choices. Look for " The Line Starts Here " neon sign to go through the serving line. I was warmly greeted by the owner at the meat station. Mr. Michael Lane , Managing Partner, described the choices and personally cut and stacked my chopped beef sandwich. Moving down the line is a feast for the eyes. Beans, Mac and Cheese, coleslaw, and an array of condiments to mention a few. ( see pictures). Then you reach the desserts! From concept to execution this is a cut above for BBQ. I had a brisket sandwich, side of steak fries, Texas chocolate cookie and drink. Good BBQ is expensive these days so expect to pay $25 or so but this was so worth it! Arrived just before the Lunch rush started. Super lucky cause I can see this as being a local favorite and the line was definitely much larger as we ate our meals. Went with THE GOVERNOR sandwich (minus the aioli sauce), if that's what you chose to call it because there was no way I was eating this as a hand-held sandwich. (Grab a set of silverware) [CHOPPED BRISKET, CANDIED BACON, SAUTÉED CHILIES, ONION RING NEST, CREOLE AIOLI] The brisket was cooked to perfection, super juicy & moist. The buns were mint, the whole things was an experience. My co-patriot went for the two meats platter and had the Turkey Breast as one of his choices. BBQ Turkey is IMO, a great indicator of how good the BBQ overall is. Too easy to dry out or undercook but they hit it out of the park.
