As we drove down the mountain and out of the park we saw a sign for the Hanging Rock General store, and decided to stop in to see what they had. It's a small shop, but packed full of food and drink snacks for hiking or even camping. They sell a lot of odds and ends, like ponchos, bug spray, batteries...things you may have forgotten at home for your camping trip. As well as fire wood, fishing bait and even arts and crafts made by locals. The cashier was friendly, and we were able to find what we had stopped for.

Gas prices were $.20 per gallon less on Thursdays. The food/snack/beverage options are truly extensive. Slices of pizza were BOGO which equates to $1 a slice and it was actually very good. The location is right off Hwy 52 at the Mt. Pilot exit. The old store was always very busy but Thursday it was surprisingly slow. I can only guess that folks don't realize they have reopened. There's a large lot in the back for trucks to park, ethanol fee gas and diesel available at every pump. The only thing that bothered me was that they display the cases of bottled water in front of the store in full sun. That's not a good thing for the water in plastic bottles. Anyway, the positives here are so good I gave it 5 stars.
