I think the food and shopping scene are a good match for this area--higher end places focused on quality, and with higher price points to match the west Omaha/Elkhorn clientele. There is also a strong focus on athletic stores--probably because Scheels draws that crowd here. Parking is always an issue so plan accordingly! There are several lots, but you will often find yourself driving around for a few minutes and walking a bit more, so plan ahead. All in all the variety of stores makes for a fun outdoor shopping day, and there are plenty of quick or fancy dine in spots to choose from as you fuel up in between stores!

They've cycled through a few food vendors and projects, and I'm hoping it helps bring some real traffic through again. I think JCP and the sewing shop may be the strongest parts right now and, of course, Sarku Japan is still out here thriving. Overall, I'm hopeful for Oakview, you can see the effort, but it'll be tough to find its footing with Village Pointe, not far away, and the Westroads trending in the right direction.

The interior is simple and nice, and stores are spaced out well. There are maps around, and escalators, elevators, and stairs they rarely get too crowded. There's a wide variety of shops, as well as restaurants within and surrounding the mall. If I had one complaint about West roads, I feel the flagships common area is very crowded. This is a little tricky to navigate in and out, depending on the time of day you come. But I do appreciate that they have so many options within this small space! If I was going to any mall in Omaha, it would almost always be Westroads. They do a much better job at selecting and retaining businesses!

Until recently it was mostly shopping, and now of course you have the "been around forever" Wheatfields, another Popp eatery, Andres, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Red Mango, 801 Chophouse, and the belle of the ball, Trader Joes. It's funny to think most Omaha millennials might remember Trader Joes as the only Abercrombie and Fitch in town for awhile. How fitting it became another millennial destination! The parking is kind of a mess, it's very cramped and most parking is for TJ's. One bright spot is Zen Coffee has a drive through there so you can grab a delicious matcha latte before your weekly shopping. I'm glad to see new life and staples stay in this plaza.

I get my hair cut at Five Salon which specializes in Aveda products. Next door is L'Occitane which is a line of beauty products and fragrances from Provence in the South of France. Kinda pricey but it's the real deal. Fun just to look at their beautiful packaging. Last year I started buying dress pants for work at Talbots. Again, not cheap but high quality (and they have frequent sales). There's a Bath & Body Works, Sur la Table for high end kitchen ware, Wheatfield's and Andres Tortillery for dining options, and other small boutiques. Last but not least, I absolutely cannot visit One Pacific Place without stopping at Nothing Bundt Cakes and picking up a couple of bundtlets - one chocolate chocolate chip and one Flavor of the Month!! Truth be told, sometimes I make up an excuse to stop at One Pacific Place just to go there. :-)

Theres also clothing stores, hair salons, and of course Bakers, our kroger grocery store. As a Kiewit kid, I had a lot of friends who lived behind this area and we would frequently walk around and loiter. Now, there isn't much of that, but they is a lot of places for adults to hang. Karma Coffee is a great spot to work or meet with friends and the Texas Roadhouse is always busy. Right of Dodge, if you're looking for something to eat, this is a great place to pull off.

The prior commercial property management didn't address the panhandlers in the area to control…read moretheir loitering. The panhandlers had once loitered inside the marsh, leaving massive piles of trash, and unopened cans of food and other food and beverage items, all unopened. One man tried to clean up the mess by himself, and he was overwhelmed by the large amount of trash, which included disposed panhandling signs. The previous management ended up having to bring in a large pink hauling dumpster and it was filled past overflowing with the panhandlers' garbage. The panhandlers have since moved across the street to the other berm, and they have begun to leave behind trash and disposed panhandling signs behind the berm, and down by the drain. Sometimes the panhandlers leave personal trash on the berm just under the trees, in full view of passing traffic. I know the current commercial management, Lee and Associates have gotten calls to put up no loitering signs on the opposite berm and in the area close by the drain. They have yet to do anything to help curb the large amount of trash the panhandlers leave behind.

If these changes are to be known by customers the corporate office has to make changes to the signs outside. The store employee came out and tapped on my window asking " are you here hanging out or picking up groceries?" LOL - I was a bit confused when he said that. My first thought was " no I just got off work to park in this spot!" I refrained and told him I called the number on the post in front of me and he told me that's no longer the process. Well the number worked and took me through the whole process of my parking spot number and the groceries would be out in a few minutes if not call the number in 10 minutes. These corporations are a bit more clueless than the common everyday folks. We like to be notified of change prior to the immediate corporate shift in change.
