A beautiful park and zoo in Göteborg, and it's free!…read more Slottsskogen was the highlight of my visit to Göteborg as well as one of my favourite experiences on my trip to Europe. I highly recommend it, and if you only have time to do a couple of things while in Göteborg, Slottsskogen should be a priority. The park is huge--perfect for a picnic or a game of Frisbee, and there is a zoo (one of the oldest in Sweden, according to the website). It's a great way to spend a day, and best of all, it's free!

I love this place! Not much can beat a HUGE park in the middle of a city - being able to enjoy…read morenature at no cost is something I am a fan of. There are paths for walking/running/biking, there's a giant pond with birds and little boats, there is an area with animals like ELK!, there is a playground, there is plenty of room for picnicking... and more! The location of Slottskogen is also fantastic - from one end you can easily access the botanical gardens and from the other you can head directly into town. Whenever I am in Göteborg, this place is tops on my list!

Liseberg has the most beautiful Christmas Market! I loved all the little vendors they had…read moreavailable. Vendors were selling Glogg (Swedish Mulled wine), Glühwein, reindeer falafel, salmon falafel, mittens, scarves, christmas ornaments, chocolate, preserved meats, etc. The Christmas market had a lot of fast food restaurants as well as sit down restaurants. You can ice skate or go on rides (ride pass sold separately). There were lots to do!
