I had ordered onion rings as my side, and when my dish was finally served I had gotten fries instead- but again, too little time to raise a fuss. This has been our go-to wing spot for a while. We ordered our usual: #16 Combo One-piece catfish and 6 wings We always request the catfish fried hard and get the Kickin Bourbon wings. We also always upgrade the fries to the Cajun ranch cheese fries and grab a J's Punch with the combo. The atmosphere itself is not really much to talk about, and the customer service has always been more average than standout. But the food? Banging. The Kickin Bourbon wings continue to be the star. Sweet heat with good flavor balance and enough sauce to matter without drowning the wings. The catfish fried hard gives that extra crunch without drying the fish out. The Cajun ranch cheese fries are part of the experience at this point. Salty, messy, loaded, and worth the upgrade every time. And the J's Punch has become one of those "you just automatically order it" drinks once you have been there enough. J Wings has always felt like one of those places where the food carries everything else. You are not necessarily coming for ambiance, elevated service, or aesthetics. We sat ourselves and was attended to relatively fast. The menu was a good lunch menu. Several sandwiches salads and burgers. Plus a few other items. We chose to get a pretzel to start and wife got the cbr salad which is a chopped salad with bacon cheese croutons and chicken. She got it fried. I opted for the da brees sandwich which is slow roasted roast beef. I also got my fries the Messi way which has cheese and bacon. Fire. I only wish there was some kind of au jus with the sandwich. I know others come with it but for some reason not this one. Would have made it even better. We were both very pleased with our orders as well as the pretzel. Best pretzel I've had in a long time.
