They've also been exceptionally competent throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic. The facility is always kept spotless and they adhere to strict precautions to ensure the utmost safety for the residents and staff. My mom has been there since February 2020 so I saw their care before and during Covid, I have had no complaints whatsoever! Even though families couldn't visit in person for a long time, they made sure to keep the residents engaged and busy all day, every day! They have had fun events like a Chili Cook off, celebrations of National Pretzel Day, National Chocolate Day, National Lemonade Day and plenty of other fun things to entertain the folks living there! They always go the extra mile to decorate and provide photo-ops to make it a lot of fun for all involved and so family's can see their loved ones enjoying themselves! I just cannot say enough good about the staff there - they've truly saved my mom & me They're honestly the best decision I've ever made for my mom. Beth P.

She has made friends with everyone there especially the employees. She is a very outgoing person so being there gives her a lot of opportunities to talk to people. The staff shows her love and is always happy to see her. What I like about Artis is Terri, Miriam, Lily, Marthe, Anna and many others are there for the family members also. They will listen to any concerns that you have. I get sent pictures and messages about my mom and how she is doing. Which helps a lot since I live in Miami. I love how all the staff is trained how to deal with people with memory issues. You are free to visit at any time and you can also take them out for the day or for an hour. I feel if your loved one has a memory issue this is the best place they could be. Thank you Artis.

He was diagnosed with both vascular dementia and Alzheimer's in 2015, and eventually he needed more care than I could provide for him at home. They kept him clean and dry and well taken care of. Everything is done on a schedule here, and it's a good thing because the residents all know when meals & snack times are. They get changed on a schedule (and sometimes someone needs an extra change) and they keep a list of the residents for each changing time so no one gets missed. The facility smells clean and looks clean all the time. They have a dining room with fresh cooked meals for every meal, no prepackaged or microwave stuff. They have doctors, nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, and hair dressers etc all come in, so the stress of taking him for appointments was gone. I didn't have to bring anything except for clothes and toiletries, they washed and/or provided everything else. The main "living room" on the first floor is used during the day for activities, and it has big windows and comfortable chairs for visiting in. Or you can visit on the covered back patio that has ceiling fans so it doesn't get too hot. The building has a backup generator, hurricane windows and is a hurricane shelter. I signed a paper that said he could stay there during hurricanes, which gave me peace of mind too. They have a fire sprinkler system in the whole building and fire extinguishers are easily seen on every wall. They are set up for 45 residents, and each attendant/caregiver has 4-5 residents to take care during the day, so everyone has help. Everyone knew my husband's name, which was a big deal to me. I wanted him to be treated as a person until the end, and he was. The monthly price was all-inclusive, so no added surprises. They billed medicare for his meds and doctor visits, so I didn't even have to do that. All I did was visit him, bring snacks, and sit and talk with him. Having him live at Mi Casa was a great decision!

My grandparents have lived here for over 15 years on the independent living side, and their building was just renovated again less than two weeks ago , they really stay on top of keeping everything fresh and well maintained. Everything is within walking distance, and the wide doors and hallways are thoughtfully designed to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs with ease. The staff are consistently friendly, the public areas are spotless, and security is always kind and welcoming when you come to visit. Parking is plentiful, with both paved spots and shaded parking available in front of buildings under the trees. The food is delicious, and the dining plan makes daily life easy and enjoyable. You can grab a quick order at the bistro or sit down for a more traditional restaurant-style meal. There are daily activities -- with even more during the holidays and different seasons -- and they decorate beautifully for every occasion. The rooms are lovely, bright, and comfortable. My 89 year old Mom was a patient at this facility. She was transferred from Memorial Pembroke in…read morelate January for rehab and we were expecting that to be at least for 3 weeks as was told by the social workers at the main hospital. We began getting discharge notices after the 6th day. She arrived late on a Friday evening so she did not get assessed by anyone upon arrival. On Saturday the PT person asked her if she wanted to do any therapy and of course My mom said no to that as she was tired from being transferred so late the night before. No PT on Sunday and On Monday got her first PT and second on Tuesday. On Wednesday we received her first Discharge order after only getting two days of actual PT. The aides PT and Nursing Staff and respiratory staff were Very good to Her and kept her well fed and very Clean. I cant thank them enough for the attention. Only one Glitch was a Young Flakey Respiratory Tech that walked in unannounced to my mothers room and opened the Curtain around my moms Bed while she was being Changed and Naked and Announcing he was there to do her Respiratory Treatment. I took issue with his Lack of Consideration for her privacy and just told him so and asked him to leave the room. When i went to the in charge Nurse to complain about his actions the Respiratory tech took issue with my complaining about what he did and began approaching me while I was leaning against to Nursing stations Counter and he was saying he didnt like my telling him to leave the room. While he was saying that he approached me even more and now I was feeling cornered and felt his action of approaching me so close was a bit hostile. I asked him three times to back away but he only came forward even more to which I said if he came any closer I was going to punch him. That when he backed off and went around, the nurses station and sat down in a chair. I finished telling the supervisor on duty about what he did in the room while my mother was being changed And then went to my mom's to see if they had finished prepping her for bed at night. Not 10 minutes later a policeman showed up because he called the police and they escorted me out of the building. The next day, when I went to see my mother, I was told I was not allowed in the building or to see her. The management staff, instead of protecting my mother's right to privacy as per the patient bill of rights that is posted on every wall in every room instead chose to defend this employee's actions and prevent me from spending time with my mother. The only time I could spend with her was for an hour each day, and it was outside on the bench beyond the doors of the facility. Management staff there is Rude and Disgusting and don't give a damn about the patient's mental well-being. Patients that have been in a facility like that need to have family members present and they chose to take away the right of my mother to have that available to her. So again, I would say that, for the most part, the whole staff from the nursing, the Techs and the Aides do a wonderful job with these patients, and I cant say enough about them and the treatment they provide to the patients but the upper management there is awful and the Social services personnel are cold and uncaring as well as condescending people! I give the working staff five stars, but the management and that one Respiratory Tech I wrote about get No star in my opinion! Thank you to all the staff that treated my Mother so well. You know who you are! Alexander Fernandez

What made it worse, it happened in the very beginning of Covid. My sister and I did much research and we chose the Sheridan at Cooper City. Not possible we could have chosen better. Clean, affordable and filled with kind and caring people. The food was great and the activities (led by Paula) were amazing. In mid 2020 my mother fell and had to have a second hip replacement surgery. In February of 2021 my father passed away. The Sheridan staff gave my mother extra special attention and she began participating (after much encouragement from Paula) many of the activities an made new friends. When my mother fell ill with a UTI in December and was hospitalized for 4 weeks before passing away at age 95, Mary Buchanan and her staff reached out to me frequently to check on her and ask how I was doing. They worked with me moving out and with all the little things that had to get done with the kindness and compassion that they showed during their stay. If you have a loved one and are looking for a quality ALF, look no further than The Sheridan at Cooper City. I have no doubt you will love Mary and her Team.

I found the entrance to be secure. I found the young lady at the front desk to be polite and welcoming, yet thorough. I met with Musi Gal, who is a sales counselor- and I found her to be welcoming and polite. She spent well over an hour with me giving me a tour and reviewing what options there were available. She was down to earth, very informative (more than just the ALF) and transparent. I had visited many other ALFs, and she was the most genuine. I really feel this is important with ALFs. I met with other salespeople for ALFs, and many were very "salesy" and in a rush. Musi took her time with and did not make me feel rushed in any way. She was willing to show me the many areas I asked about. We went through lots of introductions of people that worked there- but in a really authentic way. I asked to see the memory care area- and it is BY FAR one of the nicest Memory Care areas that I have viewed in the area. The residents in the memory care area did not feel like they were being "corralled" into a small room. There seem to be enough staff on hand to handle the "neighborhood" I was in. It felt comfortable for my very important family member. I feel that when my family member needs to transition, she will feel safe and like she is a part of another family. Musi did not give me any pressure and gave me the most information than any other ALF I visited in the area. The residents seemed happy and healthy! Check them out- they are well worth the visit!
