This is located just a few miles west of the Florida/Alabama border on Interstate 10 and has always been a great place to stop for food, snacks, gas and clean restrooms. The Derailed Diner inside the travel center is a sit-down restaurant with a train decor that includes a crossing sound that plays at regular intervals in the parking lot. There's also a fried chicken takeout place inside. On my most recent stop I was excited to find that they have added a spin rack of paperback books. I'm always looking for something new to read on road trips and these racks are getting harder to find. I bought the science fiction novels Planet of the Damned by Harry Harrison and Solar Express by L. E. Modesitt Jr. along with some Stuckey's treats. read more

RIP OFF ARTISTS!! I went there after a long drive from Florida on the way to Louisiana. Stopped there to get gas. Paid $30 for gas and got distracted because I saw a blanket that I wanted to purchase which I did. After the purchase, I walked out of the store. Got in my car and drove off! We didn't realize that we forgot to pump the gas until we were way too far to turn around. I called them and explained what happened and I even had my receipt. I figured with technology like video and register info, they could see that I didn't pump the gas but just drove off. I was told by the manager that "this happens all the time, no worries" and that they would get back to me. A week and a half later, NO CALL. So I called. They gave me the run around and then a manager told me that she shows that 14 minutes after the time stamp on my receipt, that the gas was pumped and I said "Of course it was! It was pumped by whoever pulled in after me! Duh!!!" I said "Just go look at the video and you'll see that I did not pump it but rather, just drove off!!" Then, I was told someone would call me back. ANOTHER manager called me back and said "We don't have the video". And that there will not be a return of the money. I was like, are you kidding me?? $30 gas ain't nothing to just blow off! They could have just sent me a check or something because it's not my fault that they didn't save the recording of something that happened in the same 24 hour span! smh. RIP OFF ARTISTS AND SCAMMERS. This place is a bit of a head-scratcher. The inside leads you to believe that they're trying to emulate one of the big "destination" travel centers you see along I-10 in Florida and Texas, but the outside will have you questioning your decision to stop at all. The parking lot is tiny. They have virtually no windows. A diner on one side, typical "truck stop" fuel pumps on the other, and a front entrance with a 70's psychedelic, disco theme. If you do happen to find yourself here, thanks to the need for fuel or a restroom, you'll be pleasantly surprised with all they have to offer, including large, clean restrooms, a few restaurants (Subway, Chester Fried Chicken & a railroad-themed diner), expansive self-serve coffee/tea/soft drink station, specialty candy, baked goods, popcorn, gifts, etc. read more

This is the nicest gas station I have visited in the US. I nearly walked right past the entrance, which is a VW bus. I thought that was pretty cool! When you walk in, there are cool little kid-sized cars and trucks, souvenirs, clothes, artwork, a restaurant and lots more. The bathrooms were clean, which any traveler can appreciate. The diner has a train that dings every so often, as if it's coming through. I would definitely pass up other stations to stop at this one if you are coming through the area. read more

This is an interesting place. When I am on a road trip and need a pit stop, I try and pick the most interesting looking gas station or rest area. When it was time for fuel and a bathroom break, I noticed one of the stations had a Yelp review so that's where I stopped. While the appearance from the outside makes it seem that this was a typical truck stop gas station, inside was much more. First off, this store is very large. There are also some very odd items one would not expect to find in a gas station. The first oddity was a giant wall of toys and a room filled with dolls. I have no idea why a truck stop would sell such items, but they did and my kids thought it was neat. I did my very best to keep them out of that room. The next thing that seemed out of place, but very neat was the room set up with sports memorabilia and home decor. Imagine my surprise when I saw several pieces of LSU memorabilia along with the Auburn and Alabama stuff. I guess they get enough LA residents that they want everyone to fee welcome. Yet another interesting thing is the large selection of Stuckey's merchandise. I don't know who in their right mind would set foot in some of the Stuckey's shops I've been to lately, but if you're a fan of their pecan logs, you can get them here and not feel as if you will be murdered at any minute. The restrooms were acceptable, but you could tell they get lots of use. The staff was friendly and all in all, I had a good experience. This is a "truck stop"?!? WOW!! ~ It's amazing what people can do when she puts her mind to it. Karen and Jim Brown were owners of several truckstops and other businesses in the South and Midwest. In the year 2000 Jim died leaving Karen to tend to their businesses... including the Oasis Travel Center in Robertsdale Alabama. Karen realized what she was selling was a journey, not just gas or a burger, but a journey... she's reinvented the truckstop to be an experience, almost like going to Disneyland (without the rides & Furry fandom). I know that's a bit of a stretch, but that's kind of how it felt... and oh ya, this truckstop is pretty freaking amazing!! So if you're ever driving east or west on the I-10 coming through Alabama make a stop, exit 53, it's pretty cool. Oh yeah and the food was awesome. Good rest stops are hard to find on I-10, and I've passed this one not knowing a hundred times. Very glad we stopped today, now it's permanently on our list of rest areas on this drive. Clean bathrooms, safe, snack and drink options, plus a subway during regular hours. Sadly the awesome diner is closed indefinitely due to staff shortage. read more

Their customer service is horrible, I waited for two hours, and when I asked when will they start Mike's answer was "when they get here" then walked away. Our crew pulled in on a super, dismal new yeas eve to "celebrate". It was nice to find a cute safe truck stop. Bathrooms were clean and not run down. I wish we had the chance to try the Derailed Cafe but we had to head out. If you want a safe place that is 24hrs and allows you to park for a shut eye, this is it. read more

Cool little road side travel center. It's a little gonzo with the decor in that theme park style that we love with a few photo ops and a neat diner (the De-Railed Diner). Other than that it's got your usual candy snacks fuel and souvenirs. If you need to stretch your legs I recommend checking this place out. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this travel plaza, conveniently located right off I-10. The restrooms were large, clean, and well maintained. There was a Subway restaurant and a diner. The store had plenty of merchandise. The building was a unique eclectic decor: you enter through a door like you are going into a Volkswagen Bus. Inside, the cashiers reside inside a pirate ship. In the diner, the servers enter and exit the kitchen through doors in the side of a school bus. There is a de-railed railroad car adjacent to the diner also. The gas is Marathon and is a reasonable price. Not too many pumps, but we didn't have any problem finding a place to gas up. Overall this is definitely a great place to gas up, use the clean restrooms, grab some food, and stock up on snacks or souvenirs. read more

AVERAGE Alabama gas prices right now $1.81. Oasis sells for OVER $2. So now that a new places has come in and sells for cheaper, Oasis ACTUALLY filed a lawsuit. I guess you just want to continue to price gauge people along I-10. If you're looking for a GREAT place, go to the new place, you won't be disappointed. When I'm in the area I like to stop by The Oasis travel center. You know you have arrived when you spot the hippie bus and Derailed Diner. They have some travel and vintage memorabilia throughout the store and diner. This feels like a tourist trap- and I kind of love those, ha! The Oasis has a lot of merchandise including a variety of conventional and no conventional snacks, souvenirs and gifts, some apparel, car maintenance products, houseware, etc. The fudge varieties at check out are really popular. They have some pretty off the wall and silly items, gag gifts and novelties in here, and that really gives The Oasis its charm. read more

As compared to other travel centers, this one is really nice. I had to stop for gas during cross country trip and this seemed like a good place and the gas prices were reasonable. Very easy in/out to Interstate. It does not look like much, or very big from the outside, but once you go inside it is very clean and had a lot of stuff. There was a Subway and a sit-down restaurant, which made the place smell soooo good! I think there were 6, maybe 8 gas pumps, but they weren't busy when I arrived and my entire stay lasted less than 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and said to have a good day when I left, even though I only went in to use the facilities. read more

July 27 2019. Stopped for first and last time to get gas and bite of lunch. Every single garbage can over running including ones near front door. Flies and bugs everywhere. Got gas and moved to go inside. Nice store and restaurant but the outside first impression terrible. Truck stop behind so you have that traffic. Stopped at Oasis on the way back from a trip to Tallahassee. Very few bays for trucks and bays were filthy. As I entered the cashier at the fuel desk was busy telling her life story to some woman so I figured I'de head to the restroom. When I returned I was surprised to find this lady still talking. Since I had had a long day I really wanted to pay for my fuel and drive home but had to wait for this lady to finish talking about God knows what so I could leave. I travel through this area often and I've given this place multiple chances. First the high points. Yes it's a unique place that has a large selection of trinkets and snacks with a couple of restaurants in house. It is fairly clean and the staff seems to be friendly even though clueless for help. Since I travel for business daily, I fill up frequently and I have to have receipts for reimbursement. If you need a receipt, this isn't the place for you. I don't remember ever getting a receipt at the pump, always have to walk in. And when I ask the clerk "do you guys ever have paper in the machines? She replies # whatever pump I'm at doesn't give receipts. I've heard this multiple times and there seems to be zero effort to fix it. I'm suspecting this may be a strategy to get you purchase useless trinkets inside or the overpriced food and snacks. Either way, doubtful I'll be back unless I run out of gas in The parking lot. read more

I live about 2 blocks away from Oasis and as such, have few other options for groceries. This isn't too big of an issue and I don't understand why people dislike it so much. There is a Subway, Stucky's, and a Derailed Diner (which I have reviewed) inside. The cashier seems to be friendly and the prices are decent for a shopper with little money. I only wish they had a larger selection. As far as snacks go, they are very disappointing but they have strawberry milk so I couldn't give them anything lower than three. read more

We were traveling through Alabama on our way to Panama City and stopped by the Oasis Travel Center and it was well worth the stop. It is an incredible store. We ended up having lunch there and the food was fantastic. I would have never expected the quality of the food to be that good at a travel center. On the way out we purchased some of their caramel and cheese corn and it may have been the best I have ever had. I was told that they make all of their gourmet popcorn fresh in the store and you could definitely tell. We will definitely be stopping there again on our way out. read more

This place was chaos. The parking and gas pumps are in an awkward location, so traffic and direction of where to drive are insane. I don't see what the hoopla about this place comes from... It was dark, drinks were flat and there's a big pirate ship in the middle of the store...
