After an exhaustive search on several "foodie" websites, we decided on RIEDENBURG. It was absolutely the right pick! We made an early reservation and arrived to the most gracious welcoming host, Nicole Schinwald. She led us through the restaurant to a lovely outdoor garden giving a choice between outside or in the summer house at one of the perfectly set tables. We chose outside as the day had been so warm and the garden so cool! We were met by two lovely wait staff who were both warm & friendly and professional. A beautiful summer prix fixe menu was offered as well as the regular menu and an extensive wine list. (Try the Umathum Rosa, 2014, Burgenland. Outstanding wine!) What followed was one of the most delicious and relaxed evening I have ever spent in a restaurant. Beautifully cooked linguini with summer vegetables and truffles, chanterelle soup, pasta with calamari, crudite with herbed dipping sauces, crisp homemade crackers and warm olive bread all came to the table. Perfect pillowy, crunchy wienerschnitzel with lemon and cranberry and a gorgeous cut of lamb followed. Finally dessert... The Duett von Salzburger Nockerl and the Holunderblütenparfait! Spectacular! We sat for a long time, talked, drank and watched as other diners had similarly wonderful experiences. All the while, Nicole and the wait staff carefully tended to the guests. As we were leaving, we met Helmut. We lavished him with praise!! Not just for the food or the beautiful setting or the A+ service but for the entire experience. We felt in one visit that we were family. The care and attention given to the full experience at Riedenburg is amazing! Helmut ended out conversation by running to the kitchen, needing to flip a steak he was tending... Some other lucky diner was about to receive his gift! Bravo! Auf wiedersehen! Sometimes you get tricked.....by the first view..... To be true, the food was of very mediocre quality and the service was slow, slow, slow, slow. Schneiderwirt is offering very low quality meat, deep frozen cheap vegetables and nothing from this kitchen is even nearly fresh or reasonable quality. This place will see us never again.
