    Wisdom teeth removal?

YES ... a bloody mess, but highly recommended. This is where dentists and their families go for oral surgery. I also had an implant with only a local anesthetic; no…

I was allowed to watch on a big screen as Dr. Harper examined my teeth on my first visit! It sounded scary to see up close, but it was really neat! He is the most gentle dentist, and thoughtful. He doesn't hurt you at all. Other dentists have shamed me for crying, even yelled at me as a kid. He fixed a temp tooth sitting on an implant that an Oral Surgeon put on too tight. It was put in so badly by the other doctor, it broke and loosened the real tooth next to it. Dr. Harper recemented it and shaved it down to fit properly no charge, after my cleaning. The hygenist is really nice, and patient as well. People who are afraid of the dentist should def. go here. Everyone from front desk, to the back team are friendly and make you feel welcome, when other dentists treat you like you don't know your own mouth, or that you're an annoyance for being afraid. They completely understand at OcalaSmiles. I drink a lot of soda, like lots of people, and every office I've been to it's "Just stop drinking soda all together"... and left it at that. Of course, I love my soda and didn't stop. By the time I found Dr. Harper, the soda had done damage. Instead of shaming me, or trying to browbeat me into quitting soda, I was given an explanation of HOW soda works and work arounds to prevent more issues. Now, I drink my soda through a straw and swish with water many times a day after having a pop. I know it's not the best way, but the improvement in my mouth health has never been this good since I started swishing all that sugar out of my mouth. They treat you like a real person, and they listen. When I gave them my nitrous number, they said "Ok, let's try it and see how it goes." They made me feel SO comfortable, that I didn't want as much nitrous on my second visit. I'll NEVER be a patient elsewhere. After avoiding the dentist for a decade, Dr. Harper has changed that.

In my early sixties I had a terrible experience with a tooth extraction at a "clinic" that was part of a chain. It took three visits to get the tooth removed and I was unable to be numbed completely. I was so traumatized I didn't want to get my teeth cleaned for fear of getting in the dentist chair again. I got up my nerve and started asking about dentist recommendation and Dr. Harper's name came up often. Dr. Harper was recommended to me by a woman I worked out with at the gym. She also had fear of going to the dentist until she started going to Dr. Harper. I have been going to Dr. Harper for many years now. He has filled teeth, put on crowns and referred me out when I had root canals and needed a tooth implant. I now have no fear of the dentist. Dr. Harper is kind, respectful and skillful to the point of having an artist for my teeth! Recently I decided to get veneers since my teeth were thin and grey looking from age. The process was not difficult. I had very little sensitivity during the temp stage and once the final product was placed there was no sensitivity. The entire staff at Dr. Harpers are warm, friendly and out for your best interest just like Dr. Harper. I wish there was a 10 star category because that is what I give Dr. Harper!!

He said that he had to check if I had cavities (which he could've tell by seeing the X-rays). When he broke my crown he told me that there wasn't cavities and that I needed a new crown now. He worked on the bottom tooth "to refresh the filling" after I started to feel strong pain, electricity going to my brain. I went to the office to see what was that strong pain. Dr. Tamburello saw the tooth that he worked on and said he forgot to lower the filling (which he proceeded to file down). After he finished, he told me that he was 95% sure that the upper tooth that was aligned with the one that he worked was fractured and to come back in 2 weeks and see if the pain was persisting. Two weeks later on June 3, 2026 I went to the office because the pain was unbearable and my cheek was hot and in pain. I told him in tears that I was still in pain and that I needed some antibiotics to lower that inflammation on my cheek. His assistant spoke on his behalf and refused. I told her I want to hear the doctor after she rudely interrupted. The doctor got mad just from that and he told me that he was going to defend her "10/10". There was nothing to defend. I just wanted him to prescribe me antibiotics for the pain. After this, I went for a second opinion and I was told that the tooth was fractured and the solution was to extract and do an implant which would cost $7,000. If Dr. Tamburello wouldn't have touched my mouth everything would be perfect and my teeth would be fine. The part that bothers me is that I went only for a cleaning and the practice bilked me and both of my insurance providers. Why should I pay the price of someone else's mistake? Also, I requested my record and they refused to give it to me, which that's against the law. Please save yourself from going to this place.

Due to the pandemic, we were long overdue for check ups and cleanings. This office is close to our…read morehome so this was our first choice. It took some time for my husband to get in touch with someone and after he did, we were then given instructions to complete paperwork online. Once we completed the paperwork, we then were given a call to set up our appointments. They were booked for a while so I think the soonest we could get in was a month. Whatever, what's one more month on top of 2 years?!?! When we arrived for our initial appointment, we were greeted by Megan. Megan obtained our information and took our pictures. We were then led into exam rooms separately. My first impressions were all positive. The office overall is gorgeous, clean, and cozy at the same time. I thought it was interesting there is a coffee station in the waiting area because we are at the dentist lol. It also makes sense for anyone who is waiting to come out or you are getting a cleaning anyway. Once I was all set up in the examination room, Megan proceeded to go through assessment questions with me and take X-rays. She was very gentle with placing those little plate things in my mouth to prep for each X-ray. I cannot tell you how many times dental assistants have jacked up my sensitive gums from that in the past! As I wait for Dr. B, I was entertained by the tvs on the wall and ceiling! They play Netflix and other streaming services! I thought that was awesome. Dr. B walks in and introduced himself. Very cool and professional. Dr. B engaged in conversation to get to know myself, my husband, and how we wound up in Ocala. Not only was Dr. B very personable, he is very knowledgeable and educated us on aspects of our treatment plans and reviewed our past work. Both my husband and I needed crowns and cavities. I informed everyone how annoyingly anxious I get and not one staff member made me feel bad. I went in four different visits. Cleaning, crown fitting/temp crown, actual crown and a cavity in the same quadrant, and an additional cavity. I did not pass out. I did not freak out. Holly is another dental assistant who was super outstanding! We had such a good conversation while I was waiting for lidocaine to kick in (it took Dr. B 3x before it did anything and my body is stubborn). I cannot say enough good praises for B Dental.
