We rented a beach house in Nags Head for one week in July. Prior to heading down, we reserved beach chairs and an umbrella online. We are so happy that we did, it was very convenient! The is not a trustworthy organization. I ordered chair set up and bikes months before my stay. I got a confirmation email. My account showed the order all set. A day before our trip they called to say they were out of everything and could not fulfill the order. They are incompetent and you should use another company or bring your own stuff. read more

I've never rented a kayak before, rented from this place today and seemed like very reasonable rates. A one person Kayak was about 30 bucks, two person was about 41 bucks. They will deliver them to you and pick them up after you're finished or you can pick them up and drop them off. We picked ours up around noon and didn't have to drop them until the next day around 5 pm or so. They also have a location in Avon. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Fabulous. Was 20 year customer of Atlantic Rentals, until last year. House we rented came with an equipment rental from another company, not Atlantic rental. What a disaster. I couldn't add to my order without another delivery charge, their prices were twice as much so the credit didn't go very far, and the equipment they provided was inferior. They had no phone number contact info so when I had a problem it was burdensome to get anyone to talk with. They refused to correct the situation. ATLANTIC RENTAL has been on the island forever. They are dependable and ethical. They contact you every step, their equipment is top notch. They are accommodating and responsive. We rented our equipment from them again this year and will continue to do so. They earned our business and loyalty and no credit is worth sloppy, bad equipment and non existent customer service. We rented bikes for the week with Ocean Atlantic today. It was only $35 for a week (as opposed to $15-20 a day). They delivered in under 90 min to our door. I was a bit surprised they were all Beach Cruiser Bikes with Back Pedal brakes. Personally, I've never ridden one of these. Honestly, it freaked me out and I didn't know how to use them. These things should come with instructions! After everyone stared at me like I was some sort of alien creature, I took a deep breath and took off. About 5 min later, I was golden. Wide comfy seats, free locks though "no one really steals here", and helmets included. Be on the lookout for those discount books - $5 off! read more

From day one of planning my wedding rentals with them, they both communicated information effortlessly, streamlined expectations clearly, and were infectiously courteous the entire time. Destination wedding planning can be challenging. Sam and Leah both articulated the importance of certain details about the specific venue chosen since it wasn't easily accessible to me, and also went above and beyond by enhancing the vision layout via a CAD drawing. The best part about that is I didn't even have to ask. They merely applied thoughtful customer service on their own and provided an impressive result in the end. Earlier in the planning process, they even sent samples of their linen choices available via mail with a fun card of congratulations attached! They both truly made me feel special and appreciated. Fantastic customer service! We rented chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, beach cruisers, and a utility cart for our week at the beach (did it on-line). The first day using the cart, we realized one tire was flat. I called Ocean Atlantic, assuming they might come after we'd returned to the beach house later that day to pump it up, but they came and found us on the beach within 30 minutes of my call and pumped up the tire. A minor glitch with a boogie board, and they quickly replaced it with a new one. We really appreciated the friendly, outstanding service they provided. read more

We rented a tent, chairs, tables, and linens - among other things - from Ocean Atlantic for our OBX wedding in April. Everything went off without a hitch and exceeded expectations. Everything we rented from them was high quality as well. I was very grateful that they arranged to have the tent put up a day in advance - one less thing to worry about the day of! They were very thorough during the planning process, sending me drawings of what the tent would look like, where the tables will be placed, etc. They also accommodated changes when the guest list decreased by a bit and offered us a smaller tent to help us save a little money! Prices were reasonable, rented 4 tables and 32 chairs for our wedding and paid for delivery and for the guys to bring everything up to the 3rd floor of the house we rented. We stopped in the store anyway. We found out that price is for set up and tear down service. Absolutely poor customer service. During a national pandemic we had to cancel our wedding, as if that wasn't hard enough to do Samantha, has refused a full refund for an admin service fee. A fee that is in place for a TWO MINUTE conversation to confirm the order. This is ridiculously unethical and heartbreaking that brides, grooms, families, etc have to cancel such an important day but you want to keep 20% for doing nothing at this time. I will never use them to reschedule our wedding. You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of people during something THEY HAVE ZERO CONTROL OVER. I used them again this summer. I called ahead and the bikes were actually there before we got there this time. Helmets needed some adjusting, locks and baskets were functional. I needed to swap bike sizes (mis-estimated for nieces/nephews) and they came back and swapped bikes for me, though there was some miscommunication possibly partly due to a family member rearranging how I had bikes set out so I went in person and did yet another bike swap and they didn't bat an eye. I am an event planner for my job, and deal with people all the time and rental companies. People are usually pretty up front and aware of venues, capabilities, warehouses, etc. Ordered our stuff per their advice, only to find out it was wrong sized and not what we needed. Had to make changes, which they claimed they couldnt because our truck was loaded. When I said to just bring the wrong stuff, they claimed that they wouldn't since I didn't need it. Just a mess! Go with a different compnay if you can, the only way we survived was because our caterer was AMAZING and solved the world problems. read more

We had been staying at the same house every year in Nags Head but the one thing lacking was a good grill. We looked around and ended up reserving a grill from Ocean Atlantic Rentals. Price was worth it and it comes fully cleaned, a full propane tank, and even a lighter! The quality of the grill may not be what you're used to but as people who like to grill almost every dinner, it was a luxury to have this instead of the charcoal grill at the rental house. Only thing we would note would be that the delivery charge was not clear that it was $20 for both delivery and pick up, not $20 one way. We just figured we could pick it up to save the $40. However, after rigging it up on the tailgate cargo carrier and someone sitting in the back holding onto it (only a half mile drive, but still a truck would have been better!), we decided just to call at the end of the week and scheduled a pick up. They were very accommodating and charged us $10 right over the phone. Well worth it! read more
