You have to pay for parking ($5-$10). Walking to and from the bathroom is uncomfortable and feels a tad bit unsafe. Please make sure that you are not charged $40 or $80 to enter since you do NOT have to pay an entry fee for the brewery. They will try to stop you and charge you upon entering, do not give in to their pushiness, just walk to the right and up the stairs to the restaurant. Food is not worth the high prices here. Both our plates were missing items and ingredients that were mentioned on the menu's descriptions. I would not venture out to this brewery due to how expensive and uncreative the food is, the annoyance of having to pay for parking and also dealing with the obnoxiously loud DJ that blasts music for the incredibly drunk cruise attendees. There are so many places around the Island with better food, staff, patrons and an overall atmosphere to drink Ocean Lab's beer. We are rating this a 5 star for the beer and the vibes. We each had two beers and both were tasty. Sat at the bar and the bartender served us pretty quickly. We already ate lunch so didn't eat anything. We did have to pay $5 for parking but that seems the going rate for a gated lot in PR. We also walked to the ocean from our car! You would have had to pay more to go to the pool and dayclub but that's not what we were in the mood for that Sunday. If you like a brunch club atmosphere, it seemed like the place to go! read more

The variety of beers is very good. The ambiance being right next to the beach and the ocean gives amazing views of the Caribbean water. The food is very good quality and the portions are enough for one to two people to share. This spot was really nice. It had a lot of amenities attached to it. There was a concert venue. There was a pool area. They had a gift shop and the restaurant the restaurant was on the second level of the venue to overlook the water. We went at night so we couldn't really, get the views, but it was still nice. Food was good. The drink selection was more beer but I do think there was a full bar. Only downside was there were a lot of cats roaming around and for people that don't like cats that would be a turn off. Overall I enjoyed it. read more

FLIGHT 1132 TO SAN JUAN   A fabulous microbrewery sits less than 700ft from Puerto Rico's major airport.   I first heard about Ocean Lab Taproom from my brother-in-law, who suggested we meet here for food & drinks on 4/1/22.  This place is in Carolina, just east of the capital city and damn near close as you can get to Luis Munoz International Airport-- since jumbo jets are constantly flying overhead, things can get a little noisy.   I enjoyed a flight of 4, 5oz pours: their SJU lager, blood orange blonde, Mambo hazy wheat, and American ale.  Other options include Mayawest, Hopdiver, Ruby, Ocean Blue, and Sunset Amber.  Ocean Lab has a terrific gift shop featuring all of their beers where you can buy individual bottles, 6 packs, or mini kegs!   The Taproom Sampler ($36) included: coconut shrimp (5), blood sausages (3), cod croquettas (3), and bbq pork ribs (2) with pickles and dipping sauce.  Our group of four liked the variety, but none of us felt it was a good value.  There was plenty of empty space on that platter and for forty bucks, we expected more.   The Pig Latin tacos (2 for $11) had pulled pork, red onion, cilantro, and crumbled queso.  They tasted fine, but $5.50/taco is a big time rip-off.  We also got the Guava BBQ-glazed wings (10 for $15) which were good, even though some were tiny and had me feeling like Andre the Giant....big hands, small chicken.   Desserts were kooky.  Both the Mango panna cotta ($8) and Lavender pistachio tart ($9) looked stunning, like something you'd see at a Michelin restaurant.  They showed tremendous promise, but ay dios mio what a disappointment.  They were dry & flavorless, with hardly a trace of mango in the former or lavender in the latter.   Bread = 3 Circuses = 4.5   I liked the lights over the bar area; at first glance they looked like IKEA furnishings, nothing out of the ordinary....and then, boom, I realized they were beer HOPS.  Awesome.  Restrooms were clean with modern fixtures, service was pretty decent, and there was live music playing on our visit.   * TL;DR *   Although our group dug the vibes, the eats were overpriced and underwhelming (especially the tacos). The selection of brews were great, and the clear waters of the Atlantic is a backdrop that's nearly impossible to beat.   Also, Ocean Lab's crazy close proximity to the San Juan airport means you barely have to go out of your way (unlike Casa Bavaria, a German-Puerto Rican restaurant that's way high up in the mountains of Morovis).  Convenience, as they say, is key.   Honestly?  You're better off buying a cheap 'tripleta' from a food truck (or an 'alcapurria' and 'pincho de pollo') then coming here for a few pints afterward.  Your $$$ is best spent on Ocean Lab's brews, not their food. read more

We spent a week in San Juan eating out every day, and apparently we saved the best for last because everything here was great! THIS IS NOT A DRILL - GET THE FONDUE BREAD!!! On the appetizer menu, you will find the most delicious, mouthwatering, incredible, amazing fondue. It's not a traditional fondue where you dip. Rather, they ingeniously decided to fill an entire bread bowl with beer cheese and it changed my life. Definitely big enough to split between 3-4 people. My husband and I are light eaters, and yet we managed to eat the entire thing and we were full for the whole day. We also got the wings - amazing! The wings themselves were on the smaller size, but they made up for it in flavor and crunchy deliciousness! Also!!! All Wednesday they have a happy hour on their beers - select beers are only $3! So obviously we got both of their happy hour beers. Mine was the raspberry blond and it was incredible! Very very pleased with the whole menu, the beer selection, the service, the view. All 10/10! Honestly, so happy my partner and I came across the Ocean Lab Taproom while in Puerto Rico! Brewed on island, the Ocean Lab beers were our fav and my partner discovered that the taproom existed so we knew we had to eat there before leaving. They offer your standard "American" meals, like cheeseburgers, french fries, etc. which all seem right to go with the beer anyway. My burger and fries combo was good--- flavorful. No complaints. We also loved our ahi appetizer. I ate everything. I had both the Mambo and Orange Ocean Lab flavors. I am partial to the passion fruit Mambo more though! The scene at the taproom also gets you a view of the beach club, which is cool because the dining area is laid out like a stadium-ish, so your view is not obstructed. Also, it's pretty neat that they have a store on-site, so I made sure to buy shirts, glasses, and an ornament souvenir. Overall, great vibes. Good service. read more

Someone had recommended this place for the nice views and I'm glad we were able to check it out. The food was good for the most part, we ordered the ocean calamari bowl on whim and it was very good and refreshing and the sauce they serve with the totones is delicious! I got the wings and they were perfect! I ordered it with sauce on the side so I could add as much or little as I wanted. The chuleta was a bit greasy. I'm glad we got the flight to try out a few of their beers. My favorite was the ocean mambo as it was perfect for beach vibes and wasn't too heavy. The our entrees took a little bit of time to come out, around 30 minutes. But it wasn't bad considering our flight and appetizer came out right away. The service was good and our waiter was friendly! Also, I'll note we were two tables away from the end on the right side (close to the stage) and there was an unpleasant odor coming from the bathrooms on that side. So I'd recommend d sitting closer to the middle, also I made the effort to go to the bathrooms downstairs, that were closest to the macaws. Ocean Lab has a fantastic taproom looking directly out to the Atlantic Ocean. Get there for sunset and beers! The sandwiches we ordered for dinner were great and the staff was attentive and very helpful. I wish I had more time inPR for a second visit! The beers I had were excellent. I started with a flight of 4 beers and then enjoyed a pint of Ocean IPA. They had around 14 beers on tap with an excellent mix of styles. The merchandise shop is one of the best I've been in. A wide variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts and other clothing, hats, stickers, etc. They also have a huge selection of to go beers. If you visit, I highly recommend you make a visit to Ocean Lab. I think the brewery itself deserves 4 Stars but the pool club regardless they are all associated. We started our experience at the taproom the beers were pretty good. I had the pig tacos which were nice as well. I didn't care for the truffle fries because they had a cheese sauce on top. My sister had the wings, which were tasty. The taproom is overlooking the beach/ pool. We asked if we can pay the fee to swim and on the weekends it's club members only so you can't even join or pay. They didn't even want to let us pass to go to the beach, which is a public beach. Security was very rude. Once I made it to the beach I wasn't allowed to go back to the taproom unless I walked all the way around, which is stupid because beach goer's would definitely spend money at the taproom. For a soda water and beer, we paid $10. Yow. Good people watching though. This brewery is located in the club but you can walk through the club. No enjoying the pool or showers unless you pay the fee, though. Kinda wish we had spend a day lounging at the club to be honest. Or went to a concert here. Looks fun. A bit hard to find from the beach since you have to walk through a day club, but we were recommended this spot and were so happy we came! We sat upstairs and were able to watch the sunrise over the ocean while enjoying our delicious drinks. Our first stop after arriving to Puerto Rico was Ocean lab. We were looking forward to visit the taproom as many people recomended. We arrived after eight pm, and the person in the lobby told us that the kitchen will close at 9 pm. However, the hostess said that Kitchen was closed and only were offering drinks. This is such a creative concept for a brewery. First off, it wears many hats. Such as a beach front place to chill, concert stage, bar, brewery, pub and I believe a hotel ? Its truly massive, but no matter where you sit, you'll have a great view of the concert and or the ocean. The brewery has an impressive gift shop store, which you can tell they focus on branding. The beer selection here is absolutely delicious. I hate IPAD, but their blood orange IPA is amazing. Service was okay, I remember feeling like we were forgotten about a bunch of times. Actually found out about these guys from another restaurant we visited during our stay. Had one of their beers: Ocean Lab Stout: dark, smooth and delicious. This full flavored stout has roasted malt and chocolate notes that are complimented by malty sweetness for a smooth medium bodied finish and kind of light on the alcohol content for a stout coming in at Alc. Vol 4.6% Having tried this we found out they weren't too far from where we were staying and thought we would try it out. Located near the airport, there is a little noise, but the hour (plus) we were there only one plane took off. The view is phenomenal - crystal blue pool waters with the Caribbean sea in the background. 2nd story seating offers great views and a natural air conditioned breeze blowing across keeps the temp just right. Menu isn't overly large, but has a nice selection of apps and sandwiches. We opted for the wings with guava BBQ - some of the best wings I've ever had. Nice crispy skin and tender moist meat. We also had the chicken sausage sliders - add the pickled items, adds a nice flavor to the sausage. Really large gift shop that has a large selection of tshirts (long and short sleeve) with some 3/4 zip style, polo, hoodies, etc - plus some pint glasses and other souvenir glasses. Really highly recommend! Also, they are located at a club (need to pay to use pool and beach access) that looks like it would be a good way to spend the day. read more

Great location with views! I think you do have to pay $5 to park and walk a little bit to get to the entrance- I didn't see any other parking. They are located above a beach club which gets bumpin with music. We got a couple drafts plus a flight. Their beers are delicious and I've never seen them available at home so we tried almost all of them! The mambo (passion fruit) was my favorite. Service was excellent, we were checked on multiple times and we were never dry. The menu is standard bar food, we got the guava BBQ wings which were super tasty! But some were much smaller than others with little meat on the bones. read more
