A year ago I left Ocean Options (Mike) with two Cruisair FX16 compressors, etc to "check out" What was promised in a week has not happened yet. Many calls, many excuses. Just went by their facility - locked up, no material outside. The two phone numbers I have are disconnected. Discouraging. read more

I called on a Thursday regarding membranes and service for a SeaRecovery aqua whisper unit. I was told a service tech would call me back. No call Thursday, no call Friday. Called back Monday, Service scheduler was out of the office and an appointment or confirmation of an appointment could not be made. Apparently the shop shuts down when the scheduler is out. Called again on Wednesday. First went to voice mail. Second call they just pick up and hang up. Certainly not the service oriented sort of company you can rely on while in the Newport area. Do yourself a favor and search out another company when it comes to watermaker issues they claim to be able to take care of. Or maybe they are just so busy they don't have time to take new business. Would be nice to know as they came recommended from a fellow captain. read more

Avoid. I have had two experiences with Ocean Options, both negative. In my most recent experience, I had a Mastervolt Battery charger that needed repair. I called and asked them if they repaired Mastervolt chargers. They said that they did, but that they had a backlog and would not be able to fix it for 3 weeks. When I dropped off the charger I told them exactly what was wrong with it and that I needed it back in 4 weeks, but that if it weren't repairable I wanted to know sooner rather than later so that I could find a new one. After 3.5 weeks I called them to find out if it was done. They hadn't even looked at it. I was told that the owner would call me that day. He didn't. I called them the next day and spoke to their repair tech. He read back to me the problem description I gave them, explained that they don't repair Mastervolt chargers, they send them to Europe for repair. He told me that it would be over a thousand dollars to send it for repair, that it would only have a six month warranty, and that I should buy a new one from them instead at $2000 plus tax and shipping (higher than the street price for these) which would have a 2 year warranty. I asked him how much the flat rate repair bill from mastervolt was and was told 490 euro. I asked if I could ship it there myself and was told I could. I sent a friend to pickup my charger and was told that they would not release it to him without paying an $85 diagnostic fee. I called Ocean Options to explain that they had not only done no diagnosis, but also that they lied to me when they said they repaired Mastervolt chargers, and that I would repair the charger myself. I spoke with an arrogant man named Ed who told me that my charger was unreparable and that they should be reimbursed for their time. When I attempted to explain to him that my charger was repairable, that Ocean Options doesn't repair them and that no diagnosis was performed beyond restating what I already told them, he hung up on me. They have been unresponsive to emails. If Ocean Options were the last and only option, I still would not do business with them. I encourage you to avoid them as well. It is companies like this and people like Ed who give the marine service industry a poor reputation. read more

After working with the manufacturer's tech, I called Ocean Options with the exact part numbers and pricing asking them to place the order to drop ship my parts. 3 weeks and 7 phone calls later I finally get the purchaser on the phone only to find out that parts have still not shipped. Worst of all, 3 days prior, one of the guys said he checked and that my order had shipped and to expect it in the next two days. They flat out LIED to me. Do not waste your time here. If you have any other option- go somewhere else. read more

I was looking for filters for my water maker , not knowing the serial number I took the filter to their office only to be told the parts department is on vacation the fact that anyone there could have gone and got these filters off the shelf seemed obvious to me but more effort than anyone there was willing to put forth and I returned to Newport not a short distance empty handed Awful customer service I will never retirn read more
