Supposedly this practice takes New Jersey family healthcare. Well they don't follow up on their office procedures because they let the ball drop where it concerns shots for spine problems. My son tried several times to get hold of staff and they don't answer their phones and now he has to go through the whole process again because the referral was only good for six months and now it's expired and he still doesn't have benefit of any of these procedures that his insurance said he was good for. don't use this practice. They don't care they have a very bad attitude and it's a shame cause when you need help, you can't get. read more

Horrible service. Especially office staff, Malia. They denied me service because they're misinformed and then yelled at me when I called back to speak to an office manager to resolve the issue. After arguing and yelling at me Malia then hung up on me. The office then stopped answering their phone. I record all calls so I'll be following up with proper procedures on handling this. read more

In November 2025 my wife was evaluated for bilateral shoulder pain and diagnosed (based on x-ray) with arthritis and bone spurs in both shoulders. We requested an MRI and were told to complete physical therapy first because the office did not want to pursue pre-authorization without PT. After PT was completed, we returned to the same physician and requested the shoulder MRI again, but the office declined again, stating the pain "might be spinal" instead of shoulder-related. We then attempted to schedule with their spine specialist in both November and December and were told both times to call back in a month because they were "changing systems." When I asked how we were supposed to proceed without the ability to schedule, we were told, "Find someplace else." We did. We contacted Professional Orthopaedic Associates and they scheduled her appointment the same week. Overall, we were not satisfied with the lack of clear ownership of the case, the scheduling delays, and the communication around next steps and imaging. read more

My disabled daughter went to see Dr. Pensak twice. The last time was on December 9,2024. She was complaining of shoulder pain shooting down to her elbow and wrist. He gave her cortisone injecjections in both her shoulder and wrists on her first visit. This calmed down her pain but eventually it came back. On the last appointment he ordered an MRI of shoulder which revealed osteoarthritis. She told him again that her wrist was very painful. At that time she was wearing a wrist brace. She had swelling and pain and he dismissed her. My daughter stated that it seemed that the doctor was not taking her seriously. Well I was recommended to take her to another orthopedic who did take my daughter seriously. He sent her for a wrist MRI and found that she had Kienbock's Disease. She has surgery last week. This does not even deserve one star. Dr Jess Alcid refused to give an MRI of my left hip in September, 2025, because he said it was pain from my back. He wanted me to do PT which would have caused even more damage because I went back in December complaining again and this time he said it was a hernia and still refused the MRI. I then got a script from my primary care for the MRI. The MRI showed many issues with the hip: tears to tendons and ligaments plus a ganglion cyst and more. Had I followed this doctor's recommendation, I would have caused even more damage. Plus my primary care said I did not have a hernia. This doctor needs to listen to his patients and order a MRI when asked. This problem could have been resolved months ago.He is not god. He caused me to endure 3 months of needless pain because of his incorrect prognosis and even more damage to the hip area. I will not return to this incompetent doctor. I had an appointment with another doctor and NOT with Ocean Ortho. To me, the saying is true, doctors bury their mistakes. read more

Wonderful surgeons, I have been a patient for a long time. However, they are not available when a patient needs them! A two to three month wait for an appointment is unacceptable when a patient is in pain. The doctors are never available to respond to phone calls . Physician assistants make determinations about your need to see the doctors. Unfortunately, I've decided to go elsewhere for these reasons. read more

Been going here for 11 years, and had to come back to check on certain issues. COVID-19 POLICIES: You get your temperature checked before coming in and are questioned if you have been tested or exposed to the virus. Masks required. Pretty standard for medical places I've been going to. WAIT TIME: I suggest coming 15-20 minutes earlier than your appointment time to accommodate finding parking, walking from the parking spot, and filling out paperwork. You also have to do more paperwork when passing by billing. Bringing a book, headphones, or work to do helps pass the time in the waiting room. DR. KASPER: I have been seeing Dr. Kasper for a long time and I like how extensive he is. For me, each visit has started off with an X-Ray, and he reviews them with me and assesses the pain points. He'll go over what day to day activities to see if any modifications can be done to help relieve the pain and gives next steps and a plan to follow. I highly recommend him. Dr. Michael Pensak is a wonder, highly skilled orthopedist. I am so happy that I found him to help repair my fractured wrist. He got me back on my hands again quickly!! Besides being such a skilled professional, his compassion through this horrible time for me was beyond the call of duty. I hope I never have to go through something like this again, but.... The waiting time to see the doctor is rid an hour, twice on a raw. I had to reschedule for the next day because they where running so far behind. They are over booking patients and when you ask about, why is taking so long the nurses have a nasty answer, " that they can help if the procedure take long. read more

I needed physical therapy for a minor back problem and i called some of the facilities that Ocean recommended. I was not happy with the initial contact with one of the recommended facilities. I called Ocean back to tell them and asked don't you have physical therapy? She said yes. I asked could i be evaluated by their own physical therapy department. An appointment was set up. 1. I was surprised to find that the doors for Ocean did not open until 8am yet i had an 8am appointment and their were many people waiting with me. 2. Liz who runs the desk was so organized that everyone was with their therapist by 8:04am; whether an initial visit or regular therapy appointment - which was consistent through out my appointments. 3. After the initial assessment both written and physical which was quite thorough I was given a schedule of appointments. 4. In many visits I had a different therapist who had my record of my performance from all previous visits. Asked the appropriate questions related to my response to the previous therapy appointments So, the therapists. 1. Each of the therapists that I came in contact with had tidbits of information to help me reach the intended goals. 2. Each of the therapists were aware that I had Asthma and was going through a difficult season of symptoms and watched my breathing and fatigue. Shortened my therapy session when necessary. 3. Each therapist knew what helped me and what did not. 4. Each of the therapists stopped my repetitions when I tried to do more, as sometimes it is counter-productive to the goals set. I am one of those individuals who is not concerned that someone is "nice" I think it is more important that they are skilled. I found all the therapist that worked with me, to be highly skilled and I had complete faith in their ability to eliminate the back symptoms that I was experiencing. I personally think they should advertise their physical therapy department to individuals that are not seen by Ocean Orthopedics. read more

I met Dr. Michael Pensak when I was brought to the emergency room with a severe arm fracture after a fall. He was extremely attentive and patiently and clearly explained the treatment options. I elected for surgery, and his skillful repair insured that I had a quick recovery and early return of function. The staff and nurses at the hospital rave about him and I can recommend him at the highest level. His office staff is also amazing, his assistant Cindy was so attentive and prompt about getting all of my paperwork completed. PLEASE be aware that they state if you are out of network they will take what the insurance company gives them and not bill you. This is NOT true. I received a $12,412 bill for an office visit (2), an MRI and 1 Injection which in total resulted in about 40 minutes worth of work and 20 minutes of that was the MRI. When I needed an MRI, I asked for the script to go to another MRI place in network and the checkout woman said that it is easier if I use their place next door and that they take whatever insurance pays and do not bill me even if I am out of network. I had no reason to disbelieve this since I have used this place before and never got billed the rest and 2 friends of mine were in the same situation and never got billed the difference. ($3764 I have to pay for the MRI) Dr. Kubec himself could not have been less caring, did not even know why I was there when I went to get MRI results, did not say one word to me during injection appointment and the office staff lied to me about the out of network benefits above the insurance not being billed to me. In addition, they charged well above the R&C according to my insurance company. Out of the $12,412 I have to pay $8762.59. Please be aware that utilize these deceptive practices. read more
